amid all the insanity, horror, and chaos of the world, what is it (if anything) that gives you a sense of normalcy and peace, and thus at least a chance for some happiness? religion? family and friends? community? country? politics? philosophy? science, reason, rationality? money? love? work? egotism? drugs or alcohol? obsession? for me, it's the knowledge that there are at least a few genuinely good, kind, honest, compassionate, sensible, decent people in the world who are not weak but lead strong, healthy, and successful lives. I wish I could be one of them. It helps me just to try.

Family and friends, given by God, give me peace and companionship through my struggles. My friends are my community I'd say, there is no wider community the way there used to be, where I am. Work to me feels like more of a bone to chew before the coming kingdom. It's alloted to me, and I'll do it, and savour even it. In a way similar to how I appreciate a nice view or a walk through the woods, I can appreciate a hard day's work and the rest afterwards.
