Serial Experiments Lain

I recently saw SEL (in a day), pretty much heard about it from the TSUKI project and lainchan. I don't watch too much anime, I saw NGE, Texhnolyze and some other not-very-good ones in the past. But SEL was pretty cool, all the esthetics are really cute and the philosophical parts were nice. However, I don't find myself worshipping Lain yet, should i re-watch it? Did i miss anything? I just want to get all there is to get from this anime.

Rewatch it for sure! Only a genius could get all of it in one watch.

It's a kid's tv show lain what were you expecting. But definitely re-watch it at some point, I would leave it for a while first. I've been watching it again by just dipping in and out of episodes, not necessarily in the right order. It's an interesting way of experiencing it. Don't forget to visit >>>/lain/ either!

Do things in your own time, Lain. Do you feel like rewatching now? If you do, go ahead. Otherwise, just don't worry about it. Love comes from us all, time is irrelevant.

>>63 I don't think SEL was intended for children, Lain. It hardly has anything appealing for children (aside, maybe, from the aesthetics). I can easily see my child-self feeling uncomfortable/scared over SEL.

I'm really glad I found this chan, overall I love this community, what a nice change from previous sites I lurked. Anyways, I will definitely rewatch it, the whole series kind of reminded me of Yume Nikki, I liked that feeling. Even though it's the next day already I still find myself thinking about this anime

>>66 Why do new faces get so emotional over this site? Like it comes off fake, to me at least.

>>70 Dunno, I like when people are nice to me

>>70 not the same lainon and i never exposed my love for this place in public, but i suppose it's because the rest of the internet tends toward soykaf. before discovering lainchan about 3 months ago i used to lurk 4chan, try to figure out the change: you jump from nazis and traps insulting each other to lovely paranoid techies with a much better taste in almost everything talking about the things they love. Even the lainzine alone is enough to prove how beautiful is (or used to be) this community

I couldn't make it through the first episode. Way too uncomfy for me. Also I don't watch anime, maybe that's why.

>>61 you could also watch all the cut scenes from the game. I found that helped too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkXzOlytPME

>>82 I really don't like anime a whole lot, but I still liked lain a good bit.

>>70 Also not him, but when I found this place a ~7 months ago I was pretty excited. It's hard to find places to talk about programming and /cyb/-inspired techno-paranoia irl and 4chan has gone to soykaf and 420chan is dying.

>>111 I worry about chains in general. Anonymous image boards that aren't 4chan used to have growing user bases from either cross posting or 4chan runoff that got sick of the culture and looked for alternatives. Now it's largely a parody of itself and people there get exactly what they want in the form of a recycled memetic slurry that replaces actual content. I like to see that synthetic interaction and keep an eye on it because it still informs the trends and ideas of the common parts of the net, but it's become detrimental to places of genuine thought exchange.
