Mature text chat hangout games

I think the best thing the internet has to offer is interacting with people in various simulated environments. Imageboards, forums and chatting is OK, but a social video game with customizable avatars beats them all in my opinion. As a teen I hung out in Roblox, but the platform has been gutted of any potential for that in the past few years, and I'd rather find a more mature place because I am not a child any longer. Pony Town has an 18+ server, but the playerbase is immensely immature, and I prefer hanging out in three dimensions. VR Chat is for voice chat, which I don't want. Second Life is ugly and DNSL made it look even worse. Not Interested. Meadow is almost the best social hangout game I have ever played but it has no chat. Hanging out online as a non-human character with other assorted creatures is the ultimate form of escapism. Animal Jam Classic is almost as good as Meadow but I feel weird playing it because I never played as a child. All the other people are old players. I just want to spend my nights doing this again, but I can't find good games.

>Meadow I should check it out again. I used to check it out alot when it came out. I bought the soundtrack and still have it in my playlist. Definitely a great relaxing game. Speaking of Meadow, someone recreated the experience in a Rain world mod sharing the name of both games. I believe it doesn't have a text chat like Meadow. Just an emote system for communication. Experience might be very similar to Meadow. (Haven't had the time to check it out myself) plus, the code of the mod is open and still receiving commits. :) https://github.com/henpemaz/Rain-Meadow Besides the mod, the base game itself is very solid. I've sunk alot of hours in it. Rain meadow just has the exploration and social aspect, excluding the whole surviving bit. >I just want to spend my nights doing this again, but I can't find good games. I can maybe suggest games similar in gameplay to Webfishing. Although I wouldn't recommend Webfishing itself because the dev abandonned the project. (though the modding scene looks interesting) There's a game coming soon called Rift fishing that, I think, recreates the feeling to a degree. It is still the same gameplay. Just fishing and chatting. No stakes at all.

>>9263 >Rain Meadow I had no idea something like that could be possible. I'll try that out if I ever get Rain World. >Rift fishing Oh cool! I forgot to mention Webfishing in the opening post, but you said it correct that it has been abandoned. I also heard something about exploiters and public IPs getting exposed through it which doesn't sound fun. I hope there will be 18+ servers or something like that on Rift Fishing. It could be perfect.

Check out the mmo Haven and Hearth. It's not purely social and your character is always under threat of perma-death, but it's an awesome medium for social interaction and roleplay. It's worth a look as the game mechanics offer a depth of meaning that enhanced the social aspect - character stats, material quality crafting, even mintinv of coins (daily advanced) and entirely player controlled in-game economies. Programmer dudes would have an advantage there too, as the developers allow scripts and client mods. Infact unless there's a very specific subset of hearth players already here, you'll probably be set to dominate the PvP side of the game if your chose. Oh and don't be fooled by the player count - it's the type of game that can thrive alongside fluctuating player activity. If you're interested in meeting with fellow lainons, find hearth beacon thing on the wiki :)

>>9277 Not op. This one sounds pretty cool, specially seeing as fellow lainons may be playing it. Will check it out once/if it's available in gog eventually.

>>9277 >Haven and Hearth Oh I have heard of this game before but completely forgot it exists! I haven't played MMOs, I should try it out. Also I should've included ss14 and ss13 in the opening posts. I played a few rounds of ss14 and it's not really a sit back and hang out type of game, but it scratches the itch of somewhat mature online gaming interaction/escapism.
