When did DEI ruin games?

When did DEI start getting into games? I thought recently I would finally play Deus Ex Human Revolution and almost everyone is black. In the beginning stage in Detroit I thought fine but then when it goes to China and there are hardly any Chinese people there I lost it. Then you have to go save some hacker with a Dutch name, he's also black for no reason. Human Revolution was developed 2007-2010. I am so sick of this nonsense being absolutely everywhere, even in old stuff going back 20 years. As I am so offended by nasty surprises like this, I decided I want to find out exactly when this started and then not bother with any non Indie titles beyond that point. Any ideas?
