So, anyone here play anything VR? You can strap on the headset, controls, and trackers to move around and literally live inside the game. Probably the closest we have come to Snow Crash so far, getting rid of your flesh and sculpting your perfect self in Blender.
Or just play games.(USER WAS WARNED FOR THIS POST, You should always elaborate on your opinions rather than just spilling the soykaf. Which games / activities do you do in VR ? Have do you virtual museum tours ? or played the SIMS 4 ? We don't know because you didn't tell us .)

I'm waiting for valve deckard to drop before entering vr
Roger Pollack · 2025-04-15 13:10
are people actually having sex on vrchat? it just seems a bit insane to me, like why?
Dox · 2025-04-15 13:18
I want to but I don't have any nice VR stuff not wanting to succumb to Meta products and I don't want to feel closed in by the Apple ecosystem. I'd have to dish out nearly 1K or more for something good. There also is some open source and open hardware VR projects out there which is cool and I hope more people work on them.

Cybering has been a thing for decades and there always has been sex games popular online or people in MMORPGs roleplaying sexual things. Lighten up.

Wish Deckard would come out already

Two more weeks, but personally it feels like a flop. Index was amazing, and a Index 2 would sell well.
>>8348
Yes, given how you can move your whole body, and be whatever you want. It's very popular.

Index's biggest downsides are low res (compared to competitors) and the wires, which are also surprisingly easy to damage on top of being cumbersome
it's also way too expensive, especially now that it's getting on in years
if Deckard comes in with relative hackability, doesn't report the sound and temperature of your farts along with a 3D scan of your house to meta (or valve), is at least somewhat affordable and supports both standalone and wireless streaming VR (basically quest 3 but without terminal cancer) it can scoop back a lot of market share from zucc

And a v2 version should fix that and bring it up to speed.
Naomi Nascimento · 2025-04-15 13:58
I also have been thinking it would be interesting to go into VR while on drugs that make it feel more real like increase odds of phantom touch for example. I was thinking of making a thread on it on the drug board but last time i tried to mention anything about VR and ASMR + drugs it went unnoticed.
I still have some concern on if using VR would make my myopia worse but I heard the cause is not enough sunlight as a kid so cant be helped if that is the case.

I currently am more interested in the Bigscreen Beyond 2 but ouch the $1K price but is actually cheaper than some of the predictions of the price of Valve Deckard. I would think something nice and light would be. a lot more immersive and less likely to break from normal use from not having the weight fling around if you move your head fast.

Many people do, even vrchat worlds made for taking drugs like lsd in.
Dox · 2025-04-15 14:38
all I want is one of those glasses form factor things but without soykaf resolution and FOV
the sooner I can replace the gigantic monitors on my desk the better

You could always use a projector as a monitor if that's all you are looking for.
Faye Valentine · 2025-04-15 15:52
i've had an Index for a while, VTOL is pretty fun but VRC is too intimidating for me...
i wonder how many others have a headset?

is 50 degrees FOV not enough? the wider it is, the more distortion at the edges.

50 degree fov is laghable.
XERXES · 2025-04-16 07:30
I got a quest 2 last year. Played a lot of singlelplayer games and it was a blast
Rigjt now i only used it for beat saber and tetris tho

Several thousand hours in; come because there's broadly nothing else good on VR after alyx & beatsaber (all the indie content are inside vrchat); stay because ERPing as a catgirl is fun ^.^

"Phantom sense" refers to the phenomena whereby your eyes have essentially root access over your senses; and in the dispute of eyes vs sensory stimuli, your eyes win. This means, with a bit of focused practice, when a person touches you in-vr, you can sort of feel it; if your eyes see you being deep inside a catgirl, well.... :PP
Very addictive, due to mostly zero-transitioning cost (ie no need to go outside, just pop on the headset and have fun with friends). Remarkably good for social anxiety.

still a big bulky thing sitting on my desk
plus, it needs to project on something (something big and bulky, since my walls aren't white and perfectly smooth), and it would look like ass unless the room is pitch black
they're also crazy expensive for a good one
>>8360
50 degrees is garbage
would need to be at least the same FOV as my actual glasses before I'd find it bearable to use for entertainment, let alone productivity
especially with 6DOF which is a must as well if I want to emulate a large workspace

Beat saber is really nice, it's what I bought VR for, until it got overshadowed by VRFPS and VRChat.

>So, anyone here play anything VR?
When they actually come out yeah, I even pay full price on release for them. What came out recently, Metro, Behemoth, Batman? No, those came out last year
>ArkenAge - January
>Literally nothing else 3 months later
One game a third into the year so far
Agent Jones · 2025-04-19 15:13
I hear Metroid Prime in VR via Dolphin is a great experience same with Half-Life 2 VR. What are some other fan conversions of non-VR games that stand out? I've tried Minecraft before, but I feel like that game has too much busy work to enjoy in VR and would rather stick to playing it normally.

I think this could be enhanced via the rubber hand experiment like procedure. You just need someone to touch you synchronized to someone in VR touching you then your brain will treat the virtual body as your own.

There is an entire field called "teledildonics" which does exactly that :DDDD just not for hands, if you get my drift

Well that isn't quite what I meant. That is just replacing sensations. What I was talking about is creating a mental connection to the non physical body so without actual physical stimuli you can feel physical stimuli.

With the ability to re-enact or roleplay essentially any fetish or scenario imaginable, it can be a lot of fun to certain kinds of people. It eventually got old for me but I do still enjoy the eye candy that are other people's models.

I enjoyed HL Alyx, although i wasnt able to finish it (my steam account got hacked)
Asides from that, I played some VRChat, but I didn't get much fun out of it
Most people on public worlds seem weird in a way i can't really describe.. I'd be nice to play with like minded people and see what they have to say
