What games did you enjoy on the original Xbox?

Nobody special · 2024-03-06 09:07
I bought a Xbox recently for 20 bucks and I'm having a lot of fun with it. I really like the controller (I must be the only one to prefer it to the PS2's) and more generally I find it super comfy to play on it late at night. I've also noticed that games were cheaper than on their PS2 ports, which is a plus. So far I've played: -Halo 1 & 2 -Silent Hill 4 -the Splinter Cell games -Project Zero What games did you play on the Xbox and which one do you recommend? I'm open to any genre.

I enjoyed this on the Gamecube, but I suspect the Xbox version probably had less bugs and glitches.

Breakdown >I must be the only one to prefer it to the PS2's No, the dualshock is terrible, tiny piece of soykaf, awful buttons, retarded analog stick placement, no triggers, it just is like kicking dead whales down the beach.

>>7596 Not too long ago, I completed Silent Hill 2 on original Xbox. I also recommend getting: Mechassault 1 and 2 Fable: The Lost Chapters Ninja Gaiden Black Crimson Skies Black

I will always recommend Psychonauts. It's my nostalgia game, I played it a few years back and it still holds up.

Good stuff! The OG xbox rulez. It is amazing how expandable the console has become through hard and softmods. Made mine 1TB just like that. Also, remember to get rid of that clock capacitor!! soykaf WILL DESTROY your console. Saved two of mine from certain death. You should check out Blinx 1 & 2, Jet Set Radio Future and if you get extra bored try out Fatal Frame, DOA Xtreme Volleyball, Conker Live and Reloaded, Fusion Frenzy, Shenmue 2... I've also heard things about Phantom Dust so maybe also check that out.

>>7598 Glad we agree, but even besides the poor manufacture I think it's really comfortable in the hands. >>7601 That's interesting. I know that there is a community that revived the online mode, have you ever tried that? Also I didn't know Shenmue 2 was on Xbox, a shame the first one isnt really. Btw Fatal Frame is actually called Project Zero in Europe. It's a really good game, albeit q bit repetitive but nonetheless really scary

- Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2 Fun 3D platformer set in Australia, with boomerangs and battlemechs! - Star Wars Battlefront 2 Huge variety of modes, planets, and playable characters from Boba Fett to ewoks. Star Wars when it was still good, before it was turned into 3 million different Funko pops. - Need For Speed: Most Wanted - Black Edition I'm not sure what the difference was between "regular" and "black" editions but apparently the latter was the way to go. The actual races seemed a little too easy most of the time but police chases are loads of fun. All three were also available on the PS2 (and I think Ty was on Gamecube) but these were a big chunk of my weekends as a kid.

>>7596 The MGS2 port is really good considering the Xbox actually has pressure-sensitive buttons too. My one complaint is that the underwater swimming effects sometimes tank performance. The DDR games (Ultramix 1-4) are also fun.

I have a hacked xbawx, I like riddick, conker and abe

Advent Rising. Kept me old xbox way too long just to play it. It's one of the games Xbox360 didn't / couldn't emulate.
Special Agent Bob · 2024-03-07 20:09
>>7602 I have, it was fun but it's dead as fuarrrk and I'm not joining some soykafcord to organize games.

>>7615 Heh, I checked and there's 41 players on Halo 2 atm. Its not too bad, but I get your point If you're really nostalgic of the old days then it may be worth it, but otherwise playing it on PC should be enough. It's like people reviving the dreamcast online to play Quake 3.
Unnamed · 2024-03-08 20:10
>>7620 Halo 2 is not supported yet. You are talking about xlink kai, that's just a tunneling software.
Technician · 2024-03-13 10:06
>>7602 Sorry for the late reply, >>7601 here, Oh soykaf my bad. For some reason I thought of resident evil lol I did try out some tunneling tool to play halo 2 online, but it was just a bunch of NA and SA people playing. It mightve been the one lainon mentioned above me. Surprisingly active! Havent tried insignia.live yet but the project sounds cool. Had also forgotten that the xbox and ps2 had pressure sensitive buttons. The only game I know that takes advantage of them is xtreme volleyball.. was there any others? Also what dashboards do yall use? Heres mine.
Drano · 2024-03-15 21:36
>>7621 Welp nevermind they just added support. Full lobbies, hundreds of people online, I wish it would stay that way.
Auto 90's · 2024-03-15 22:53
Doom 3 on harder difficulty plays a bit like F E.A.R with its clunky mechanics and dependence on the flashlight
Undisclosed · 2024-03-17 10:24
this one was good. 3d adventure platformer with a cheesy story and very cheesy cutscenes. boss fights were too easy IMO

>>7596 If you have a lot of money, see if you can get the whole Steel Battalion set.
Ender · 2024-08-12 20:18
>>7596 Halo 2 was the best game I had on the original Xbox. It was the only game I had on the Xbox. It was a very good game.
Zero Cool · 2024-08-17 17:47
>>7596 I can't believe only one person has recommended Jet Set Radio Future so far. Of all the original Xbox exclusives that haven't been ported, it's probably the best game. Great stylized visuals. Excellent soundtrack. The gameplay is fun, but for a game based around rollerblading it has a shallow trick system. The focus is more on exploring the map and tagging things with graffiti, so if you don't go into it expecting something on the level of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater you'll have a better time.
Lady Jessica · 2024-08-17 18:02
You have to play the Fable games! They're great. I'd even argue they're better than Skyrim.
Jet Black · 2025-04-16 13:44
The Otogi games are worth playing. Early FromSoft games that are more along the lines of a typical 6th Gen action game. I've only played the first one but I believe you can play both on the modern xbox consoles if you buy them from the store.
Hitomi · 2025-04-16 14:33
>>7997 JSRF was the cornerstone of my childhood. I still listen to the soundtrack on occasion. It's imprinted such fond memories on me, and I'm always washed with a wave of nostalgia whenever I'm reminded of it.

>>7596 Dead Or Alive 3 is the best fighting game

Pac man world 2 was a secret gem

>>7635 i thought i was the only one that played this
Special Agent Bob · 2025-04-20 12:13
Get Gauntlet: Dark Legacy. The Xbox version is the best version of the game. Also, Fusion Frenzy. I plan on hacking my phat Flacon Xbox 360 with RGH 1.2 just to play some Xbox games that I never got to.
Turner · 2025-04-20 14:47
Burnout {3, Revenge Rez HD Soul Calibur II SSX {3, Tricky, On Tour} Timesplitters 2 Second Sight

>>7596 call of duty 3 was good. morrowind. psychonauts. oddworld.
Gyula Kovacs · 2025-08-10 21:48
A little surprised no one mentioned "Alter Echo" (pic related). Great game, but the difficulty curve goes fuarrrking insane near the end. Really cool / innovative gameplay for the time, ~2003. The game also released for PS2, but I only ever played in on the Original Xbox.
Roy Batty · 2025-08-11 03:08
>>8700 What is the gameplay loop like?
Batou · 2025-08-11 04:57
What about this one? The fact it had voice chat made it unique compared to the GCN version as far as I'm aware. Apparently you could still connect to some private servers to this day with your new (old) Xbox. Have fun lain!
Mitnick · 2025-08-19 21:53
>>8702 11yo me would fuarrrking love this.
Haruyoshi · 2025-08-21 02:24
Panzer Dragoon Orta and Shenmue II if you're in NTSC regions.
