metal gear time limits

Ive been trying to play Metal Gear games lately and in the plot there's always some kind of time limit and that's making it really hard to enjoy the games. I want to assume the game is just lying but then I remember that Kojima is always trying to push the boundaries of what videogames can do. Like I remember in Metal Gear Ghost Babel at some point the bad guys said I had to beat the game in like 1 hour or they were gonna nuke the U.S. And then I beat the game in 1 hour. Were they lying to me? I really didnt want to find out. Can we just make a list of all the real time limits in all the metal gear games (including metal gear acid) so I know when to believe the game when it tells me thousands of innocent people will die if I dont hurry up?

MGS (PSX) only has a time limit during one specific boss fight IIRC

>>7411 And is also the best MGS.

>>7411 >>7412 Should I even play the mainline metal gear games if I don't have the original hardware? It seems like mgs 1 2 and 3 were designed specifically around the consoles they were released on and I'm not sure if it would still be worthwhile to play those games without those features.

>>7415 Absolutely. Psycho mantis is ruined in the original MGS if you don't have a console but it's a tiny portion of the game and more of a gimmick than anything else. They're great games

>>7415 >look at me i'm so cool i play on a _console_ and other such fake-elitism The only thing that is annoying on emulators is that MSG2+3 will do different things depending on how quickly you press or let go of buttons. For example to aim an automatic weapon you need to press and hold square half-way and then to fire you press all the way. Emulators don't understand half-pres or slow pressing of buttons it is either all the way or not. That means you can't really aim properly. MGS3 also uses soft circle to interrogate a guard and hard circle press to cut their throat so that's another thing you can't really do on an emulator. Which means you can't get airstrike frequencies which means you miss out on airstrikes all together. The more I think about it there are a number of things you miss out on if you play on an emulator. None of it stops you finishing the game and enjoying it though. >>7320 MGS1 has some time based easter eggs like when Meryl is larping as a guard and you get her attention she runs into the toilet to change. If you go after her quickly enough she does the following cut scene in her underwear because you didn't give her enough time to finish changing. There's also a way of getting her in her underwear when you first see her in the jail cell but I don't remember if that's time based. MGS2 has a deadline for the last part of the tanker mission when faggy fuarrrkface is doing his speech. The plant mission has deadlines related to defusing bombs. I suppose the underwater parts are also sort of deadlines since jailbait can't hold her breath that long. MGS3 has a deadline for a boss fight but it works in your favor. If you dick around for too long the boss dies from old age.

>>7587 >Emulators don't understand half-pres or slow pressing of buttons it is either all the way or not. Isn't this because the original PS2 and 3 controllers were touch sensitive and most controllers these days aren't? I use my PS3 controller with an emulator and I don't get this problem at all.
