hot gamer takes

>Jet Set Radio is overrated >Watch Dogs is underrated >Tears of the Kingdom is mediocre >Yakuza games are ARPGs >PSP > PS Vita > DS > 3DS > dedicated emulation handhelds >If you want your indie game to sell, you have to design it specifically for streamers to play >The only good hentai game to date is Super Deep Throat >BF2142 was the best Battlefield >Saints Row is better than GTA >Most adults prefer discussing games to actually playing them(USER WAS WARNED FOR THIS POST)

>BF2142 was the best Battlefield 2142 was pretty much the death knell of the series, and that's not a compliment towards it. Let's compare 2142 to 2 since they run on the same engine. BF2: -made Assault a nearly pointless class by giving Medic nearly the same guns -bad air-ground balance by tying the same counter (homing missiles) to both helicopters and jets -rank and unlock system that gave a distinct advantage to players who've played longer and made players avoid unranked servers and killed the fantastic mod scene that previous Battlefield games had 2142: -decided the solution to class imbalances was to dumb down the number of classes -decided the solution to air-ground imbalances was to get rid of an entire class of vehicles -took the unlock system and magnified its cancer tenfold: upgrades are a massive timesink and gateway advantage in 2142 to a far worse degree than BF2 No, I'd say that 2142 was definitely not the best Battlefield game, and it's very telling that all the talent behind the series resigned from DICE in the middle of its development after putting up with too much soykaf from EA during BF2's development. 2142 was basically the death of DICE and the series, everything after it was dogshit.

>Watch Dogs le epic ubisoft turd >hentai games cringe >saints row 3+ le epic neoliberal turd (clearly designed and made by people who never made a single step outside of California and think everyone behaves like a Californian) >adults game industry caters exclusively to adults who obviously work and have money. Explains very well the desire of people to rather not play it
Faye Valentine · 2023-10-03 10:10
>>7226 >le epic neoliberal turd Uh, what? Does it argue for deregulated private capitalism and the ascendancy of global finance?
Boris Grishenko · 2023-10-03 10:20
Kerbal Space Program is the best game ever made.
Vasya Pupkin · 2023-10-03 10:44
>>7231 >he doesn't know about Saints Row 2022 incident
Random · 2023-10-03 11:15
>>7231 I mean, that is kinda the goal of the game, but you play as an unapologetic villain, so it's really anti-neolib.
Crazy Jake · 2023-10-03 11:22
>>7226 Guess you haven't played Super Deep Throat: https://neetpride.wordpress.com/2020/05/31/the-best-porn-games/
Tequila · 2023-10-03 11:40
>>7236 Super Deep Throat isn't even a game, so you've definitely produced one hell of a piss take. At least pick an actual game, like Kurovadis, Rance, Yakouga, etc. Anyway here's a more interesting take for you: all the best porn games have uninteresting or unappealing porn, because porn and game inherently clash. Nobody wants to finish a game after they've finished having an orgasm. Conversely, it's hard to justify anything more than a few minutes of game with a trivial goal to complete in order to deliver porn to someone who wants to orgasm.
Liet Kynes · 2023-10-03 11:42
>>7237 To be fair, I did explain that in my blog post, but I can't expect you to read that. It is technically a toy, because video game sex toys are far superior to video game sex games.
Roger Pollack · 2023-10-03 11:45
psp is based because you can play patapon on it
Nobody special · 2023-10-03 11:51
>>7239 How is patapon? I always confuse it for pikmin. Then I realize it's not pikmin and get pissed because it's not pikmin. I think I've reached a level of emotional maturity now where I can accept patapon isn't pikmin. Me & My Katamari is cool.
Molly Millions · 2023-10-03 12:00
Fallout, Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torments and other isometric RPGs of their era made in a similar fashion, are absolute trash RPGs and I'm convinced that people who like them are only interested in role playing and don't even play games otherwise. It's the only way that one could overlook their mountain of fundamentally broken gameplay mechanics.
Rick Deckard · 2023-10-03 12:00
>>7241 it's a neat game. if you liked pikmin and don't mind casual rhythm games, you'll like patapon. i recommend picking up the second installment instead of the first. its extremely similar to the first installment, if not the same, with more content.
Elliot Alderson · 2023-10-03 12:17
>>7243 >>7243 That actually sounds really fun. I'll give it a try. Sony should really try launching a new PSP. Handheld emulators are becoming more and more popular and Sony could compete in that market. Nintendo does it, and Nintendo is nowhere near the massive global corporation that Sony is.
HELIOS · 2023-10-03 13:17
I feel like I'm the only person on the planet who finds Burnout 3 completely fuarrrking insufferable. The physics feel like you're a slab of butter that gets slapped around occasionally, the boosting has zero impact to it because you do it virtually 100% of the time, the whopping two camera angles are both asinine, there is no rear view mirrors and the only way to look back leaves gaping dead spots on the sides, and the AI cheats so blatantly they're an annoyance more than anything.
Incognito · 2023-10-11 10:05
>uhh let me just post an incredibly half-baked one liner which i will never elaborate on even if challenged, and which will never cause any intelligent discussion Hate these threads.
Unspecified · 2023-10-11 11:17
>>7266 But they actually do lead to intelligent discussion. Quite frequently, in fact. Just because you refuse to engage with OPs like it doesn't reduce the undeniable fact that the quality of image board discussion is often completely independent of the OP.

>>7223 >Best way to play a heavily dice-rolling oriented game is on easy or easier mode such as explorer mode for BG3 since randomness can undermine skill >Rebecca Chambers is best Resident Evil waifu >Resident Evil 0 was good >Remnant 2 was a disappointment >BG3 had too many bongos and poo-poo brown humans and "half-elves" since they were ESG throw-ins despite it taking place in a European-style setting >Strong wahmen in high-ranking policing positions should not be prevalent in a medieval or Renaissance European style setting like BG3 >The Empire in Valkyria Chronicles did nothing wrong and Valkyria Chronicles was a disappointment with its self-contradictions, muh personal value, and anti-racial realist standpoints >Final Fantasy 7 is like kicking dead whales down the beach for the most part and had to depend on needless drama to look good

Every game has to probably pass that developing part where the devs are actively implementing soykaf to get the player addicted to the game. that means collectibles, rpg levels and skill grinding (i HATE them), repetitive quests, achievements, hot characters, the obvious online shops etc. but most of all i feel like most games just want you to waste time. i'm trying to find "genuine" games that will of course be made for money but most of all to pass something to the players. after all my years of playing games i've realized the only probable games are the first and third dark souls and bloodborne, a few nintendo games. some silent hills and just a few more of the older bunch. i could say a lot of other (older) games that were genuinely good for me (most nintendo stuff, a lot of PSX games) but there's that issue of them wasting time. they're just fun and nothing else. some other games have excellent storylines but i can't play them for their RPG elements of grinding and leveling up and talking to everyone and collecting stuff all over the world which is absolutely irrelevant to the game ambiance and story itself. Don't get me wrong, this works sometimes for me but only when it makes you feel like that was really needed and helpful (ex: silent hill). Some games have the capacity to build a fine line of harmony around the player's mind and most of these games can't keep up without breaking it with these tricks. maybe it's because i'm getting in the core of my 20s but i feel like i need a purpose to play a certain game today, unlike 10 year old me. Was media originally supposed to waste people time or was it supposed to make a difference in someone's life? I just noticed this is for example what i always expected from books. Please let me know your opinions on this. Also sorry for the poor typing it's VERY late and pic unrel i just like cocks

>>7223 Oh God I thought I was on 4/v/ for a second. Anyways my hot gamer take is that around 2009-2013 in the pretentious hipster indie bullshit era (Or, Xbox Live Arcade Era) was a bit of a watershed moment and a time period I find myself longing for despite the flaws. It was at that point where video gaming was starting to hit the mainstream but hadn't quite become hollywood-tier yet, and the indie games scene had a lot of the same creative energy and drive as the flash game scene earlier in the 2000's, but with a bigger scope, and for all of the hipster glitterboyry there really was a lot of genuine creativity and community and the potential to be something much greater. Then Zoe Quinn got exposed for fuarrrking her way to critical success and the rest is history. There is still an "indie games scene" these days but in comparison, if you'll excuse the 4chanism, "soulless" in comparison, less focused on innovation and moreso on making money, and a reflection of the soykaftier, irony-poisoned time we live in now, and it's not even really a "scene" anymore by any definition of the term. Or maybe I've just got rose tinted glasses on and the xbla era sucked. I dunno.
Trinity · 2024-01-20 17:16
>>7465 Boy I really have to disagree here. As someone who's been paying attention to indie games since the shareware days of the early '90s, the time period you're describing starting roughly around 2009 was one of the worst times ever for the indie game scene. So many soykafty developers with no appreciation for old games, or even a sense of what was good about doujin hits like Cave Story, flooding the market with their half-assed, half-baked game ideas and expecting people to treat them like they're "just like the classics", or as if they're good just because they're creative. It feels like only in the last five or six years that the indie game design vacuum, which they initiated, finally managed to make some kind of recovery. And I'll just speak directly to your image as well. I've never played Castle Crashers, but I did buy their other game Alien Hominid on a recommendation, without realizing it was originally a Newgrounds game. The assertion made was that it was "just like Metal Slug". LOL. Still feeling the buyer's remorse on that turd.
Dujour · 2024-01-20 19:10
>>7466 Castle Crashers was a fun, mindless flash game that was great to play with others daily after completing our menial wage grinds. Cave Story, however, is in a completely different league, and even though they're both games, I'm hipster-elitist enough to represent them as entirely different forms of media without elaborating or justifying my opinion in any way.

Halo original trilogy > Half-life 2 Also, the Source Engine sucked. Half-life 2 was still good for the time but the Halo trilogy was better.

>>7226 >(clearly designed and made by people who never made a single step outside of California and think everyone behaves like a Californian) uhh isnt it by volition of Champaign Illinois, and creators of the excellent game Freespace?

Palworld is a garbage ass friendship simulator and the people currently enjoying it only do so as fiends scraping the bottom of the barrel for whatever pittance of nostalgia their autistic, collection addled kafbrains so desperately crave after sucking 30 years of childhood fetishizing Fatman irradiated japanese dick. These same goofball loonytoons ass Paheal-commenters didn't even like the survival genre until their dipshit watered down dogfighting sim plastered itself on top like some drunk downsy retard purchasing a hooker just for overwhelmingly platonic skin-skin contact, and now I have to suffer this bestseller/absolute SOY being shoved in my face like I'm a victim of aggravated bukake
Cat Mother · 2024-01-26 20:37
Difficulty in most games these days is just fine since it is adjustable while difficulty in older games from the 80s and 90s was often built upon arcade difficulty in that every continue after a game over was another coin you had to put into the machine. It is why games that were not intended as arcade games like Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, A Link to the Past, and Super Metroid were so enjoyable yet challenging at times. I will say game journalist mode in some games like Nu-God of War is simply retarded. >>7484 Upset Pokemon Company hands typed that.
Elliot Alderson · 2024-01-26 20:43
>>7482 They're both the greatest cancers to ever infect the FPS genre. One completely murdered console FPS, the other screwed PC FPS for a long time.

>>7484 > fiends scraping the bottom of the barrel for whatever pittance of nostalgia their autistic, collection addled kafbrains so desperately crave after sucking 30 years of childhood fetishizing Fatman irradiated japanese dick. I thought you were talking about palword fans, not pokemon fans.
Agent Richard Gill · 2024-01-30 11:26
>>7484 That's a hot take alright, but at the same time I almost agree, PW is absolutely overhyped to hell and back. It looks and feels like some sort mod for a different game, but it's pretty alright for what it is and I could see it become a title with staying power if they polish it up and expand on it further. It's the retarded non-discourse of 'Palworld 10/10 BTFO'd the Pokemans forever' and 'Nintendo sue this man, the sheep is rolling' that makes me want to go and only play ero-guro off DLsite instead. The Pal designs are pretty good though.
