I'm looking for games that combine genres that shouldn't work but do. 1 is Racing Lagoon on the PS1, a hybrid between an RPG and a racing game. 2 is Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, a hybrid between an RPG and a fighting game

The best I've got is Ninja Golf
It's a pretty good golf game / beat 'em up

"Shouldn't work", but do? I can't name any of those, any time someone tries to combine disparate genres it seems to have been a disaster worthy of ridicule from my view. So with exception to OP, I'll talk about a genre I'd like to see more of. It's completely infuriating how few racing + shooting games there are in the world. Why the hell wouldn't I want to shoot up and destroy my rivals in a racing game? Why the hell wouldn't I want to go as fast as possible in a scrolling shooter? Developers who refuse to ask themselves this need to seriously reconsider their priorities in life.

I suggest the Ys games which combine hack-and-slash with RPG and puzzle especially Ys: Origins, Oath of Felghana, Memories of Celceta, and Ys 8. I am currently on Ys 9. The first two Ys games are cool but you may not like the combat system.

Friend of mine is making a game called Veredilia that's a mixture of Sonic the Hedgehog (Sonic Advance or Rush more specifically) and Mortal Kombat of all things. I have no experience with either so I can't comment on how faithful it is to either one.
The scoring system requires both a fast time and lots of kills at the same time. Trying to balance the two, rerunning stages and learning where you can get some cheap environmental kills or take out many mobs at once has been fun.
Does it work though? I... don't really know, I feel like MK fans wouldn't find it MK-like enough while Sonic fans wouldn't find it Sonic-y enough. It has a lot of stop and go between speeding and fighting because the two just feels... incompatible. It's also very dissonant with the themes/presentation.

There is an adventure golf game for NES, forgot what it's called, though.

I know one for the Megadrive called Battle Golfer Yui, it has funny dialog and aesthetics but the gameplay is the standard 16bit golf affair plus a useless exp system.
