where do game developers post their devlogs nowadays? is TIGsource devlog forum still a thing? i want to keep up to date with all the cool hip indie games but it's so scattered just following random devs on twitter/youtube/their discords.

I keep up with them through youtube (freetube) too. But here's some of my favorite devs:

I've heard lots of mixed ideas on devlogging and don't know if it's worth doing myself. On one hand it can help you stay motivated, especially if other people like what they see, but on the other hand there's the potential to get people overhyped and/or ruin any surprises your game might have.
I tried devlogging once, though nobody really cared as I didn't have anyone to share my stuff with and didn't have anything interesting to show anyhow. Didn't help that I had a bit of an ego back then and thought I could enginedev a 3D game, so I was spending more time devlogging about the engine than the actual game.

3D engine dev is interesting though, I watch a lot of devlogs that mostly descend into detail about the engine and find it interesting. Besides, if you develop games or simulations mostly for fun then there's no problem with it iyam.
