If you haven't tried it Hypnospace is basically like browsing old Geocities websites in 1999. It's a really awesome game that simulates what the internet used to be like.
The Christian themed websites where people freak out about Pokemon being Satanic were dead on. People on this board will really appreciate this game.

My opinion of the game is turning more lackluster as I keep playing it. Basically, the developer is too conservative to make the websites as interesting, mature, edgy, sexy, cyberpunk, anarchist, or surprising as I would have wanted.
I was fine with the heavy emphasis on Christian webring stuff at the beginning because the 90's had a ton of that, but it eventually grinds on me that you don't even see the pushback that I also remember running into. Or much satire of religion other than them over-reacting to Pokemon. I looked it up and found out the developer is a devout Christian and he must have tended to avoid the sites that made fun of fundamentalists. The Antagonist of the game is supposed to be an adult in a position leadership, but he behaves unbelievably like a 10 year old "Satanic" brat. I still haven't seen any mention of anime in the game yet either, even though I remember Sailor Moon gifs and anime webrings being everywhere.
It's still a neat game with vaporware music, but I would have enjoyed it better if it felt a little more mature. I had hoped the game would have been more like this website:
