I started playing in 2020, i found in the lockdown enough time to spend playing a few videogames, one of them being FFXIV. I spent like 800 hours while playing the MSQ (i absolutely loved Shadowbringers) and completing every single Alliance raid and Trial. I stopped playing a few months ago, when Endwalker released. I actually bought the expansion but only played like halfway into the MSQ (I think the last MSQ boss i defeated was Zodiark)
I love how this is a more RPG approach to the MMORPG concept.
I think i read in some thread here in /inter/ that we could form a FFXIV lain group of something. It could be great and probably would take me back to the game.
What are your thoughts about the game? If you haven't played yet, would you consider playing the free trial if you had a group of Lains with you?

I played the first MSQ basically in like a week and a tiny bit more and that's it.
I have been thinking recently about playing it again, but honestly I kinda want to play less video games overall, especially multiplayer ones that get you hooked. FF14 from what I remember like half a year ago was pretty good. I played support so soloing wasn't ultra efficient.
Overall I think it's one of the best if not the best active MMORPG. I heard story gets even better especially in endwalker.
So if I wanna play a MMORPG I definitely play it over WOW and Destiny 2. Never tried runescape tough.
>FFXIV lain group
Not aware of it.
I might also really want to explore the ERP..... I mean social aspects, but most people chill in the newer housing areas, that I haven't unlocked yet... and getting to that point would need like 200 hours of grinding.

I absolutely loved playing FFXIV and the game only got better after meeting a lovely group of people to play with as well.
Recently I've had to drop my subscription, at least for a while. I absolutely loathe the MSQ for ARR, hell I find the job quests more engaging and entertaining than the MSQ for ARR. I really wish I could skip it but I see people online referencing how it's an important building block for the story in the future, but idk.

Honestly you can find social aspects in older housing areas as well, as I denoted above I'm still in ARR and have participated in quite a few events. Nightclubs are cool as hell from past experience, though can be quite dead (although this could be because I'm in ARR? Not sure). If you weren't aware there's this club event called Club Cyberia for FFXIV, even have their own website, give it a look you might find it interesting.

> most people chill in the newer housing areas
Actually, a ton of FCs have their FC house in the first ARR residential areas, just because they happen to be the cheapest. It is true, though, that the newer ones are a lot more cooler (i love the kugane one).
You can also say that there's a "real estate mafia" in ffxiv, high-end players that have unlocked everything that's unlockable in the game just like to spend the game wasting Gil collecting houses.
Btw, parties are cool experiences and all but i find static parties and mount farming a lot more satisfying experience, i met wonderful people playing unsynced trials with them.

I mean, it is important, but there's a LOT of narrative bloat and it can be annoying feeling that you're wasting your time playing it. I watched a 1.0 and ARR summary on youtube before getting into Heavensward.
I would love to play with Lains someday, btw. Maybe we could materialize that wish of having a FFXIV Lain group
