But I want to make a minecraft server for all my friends to play on without needing to spend money on some random fuarrrkER's server hosting website like the realms by Mojang or some random person who hosts them
I was looking into hosting it myself I got everything down pretty much and can understand it all minus one thing? How the hell do I mask my ip address or change the domain of the server that way I don't give them my public ip adress?
a lot of these friends are IRL's so I do trust them but then there are also random online friends that I just don't want them to have my public IP.
I can't seem to find anything about it on youtube, I'm pretty stupid so I always end up just going to youtube for anything but the issue is its just 1000+ video's made by a bunch of random people telling me how to port forward with Hamachi / port forward is there any other way around this?

If you don't mind having to install additional software, you should use the Yggdrasil darknet
https://yggdrasil-network.github.io
It has near-clearnet speeds (in my experience) and also you get extra transport security. No port-forwarding needed.
I don't know if Minecraft plays nicely with IPv6, though

Similarly, I think people have hosted minecraft servers as tor hidden services before too. You'd likely want to configure it to use a 1 relay circuit to improve latency. However your players are probably not going to want to install anything extra just to connect to the server so yggdrasil, tor, i2p, etc may be impractical.
You could just get a cheap VPS and set it up as a reverse proxy back to your home. There are some reverse proxies made specifically for minecraft on github.

you need to forward traffic from another network to your network. You can do this with a linux server and firewalld. The server needs to receive traffic on whatever port Minecraft uses, and forward it to your network.

Minecraft crafting is like cooking, right?

in wake of m$ going crazy with gestapo word filters that are controlled by solely them and can block you even while using your private server i would like to point out https://www.minetest.net/ exists as a free alternative.

minetest is good but dosen't have the authentic minecraft feel, you could try having your server "offline" which should stop m$ from censoring the server, this won't stop them from looking at what you say thats what "cracked" accounts are for.

you can even be censored playing offline in your own world trying to name something, so the filter is client-side. And its the cheap asian mmorpg type that does just string comparison filtering benign words out that are even used as item names which prevents you from typing out normal sentences.
Btw what do you mean with typical minecraft feel?
Im under the impression most mod it anyway. Then again im not high on loyalty either way, played trove for a while too.

yea specifically the engine it has certain feel that other minecraft-likes can't replace
>you can even be censored playing offline in your own world trying to name something, so the filter is client-side.
btw you can decompile minecraft they even provides the mappings for the obfuscation and theirs projects like MCP that let you recompile it with the changes you make so you could search trough the code to find the soykafty filters, this how things like forge and fabric exist they have some code that lets you load mods like modules in a language like python
