Greetings Lain Here is a hair-line crack on the inner circle of this Playstation 1 disc. The game happened to boot without issue, I assume based on the console's error correction ability in the laser-reader. As you can see from these photos, its more prevalent on the reading side, and about half as extensive on the data side. I'm determined to play through this game, but I'm hesitating because having done some queries about this subject, there are rumours circulating that if I play a cracked disk, it may disintegrate while spinning in the console. Possible fixes boil down to super-glue, or even just some scotch tape. Though some say such measures may upset the disc's proper balance while spinning. Please let me ask - Could this be an exaggeration? Assuming the crack isn't noticeably expanding, would it be fine to apply a dab of glue for reinforcement? Also, would it be considered excessively paranoid to imagine the CD may "explode" mid-game? Thanks, Happy Halloween folks

>>5512 Great choice lain, you're in for a good time. Is there any reason you want to play the original disc? You probably have half a dozen devices that could emulate this without skipping a beat.

Just reinforce with super glue and give proper dry time so it won't tear appart from the forces involved.

>>5515 I'm assuming you mean great choice that Parasite Eve is supposed to be a good game. The original Sony Playstation console is all I got. As far as I'm given to know up to now, CD players like the Ps1 don't nearly spin as quickly as more modern CD drives, so it seems I won't have to worry about disintegration. Its increasingly apparent my solution here would be to handle it carefully and reinforce it with glue like >>5516 suggested. From that point its just remaining aware if the crack ever continues growing, at which point its R.I.P. CD. I'll attempt to doctor this cut soon - just in case someone might convince me dabbing glue or some type of a circular hub eyelet sticker or both may ultimately do more harm than good. >>5515

>>5519 >I'm assuming you mean great choice that Parasite Eve is supposed to be a good game You bet, novel combat, intriguing plot, great soundtrack and beautiful 90s prerenders. >As far as I'm given to know up to now, CD players like the Ps1 don't nearly spin as quickly as more modern CD drives That's right, the PSX has a much slower 2x drive. >Its increasingly apparent my solution here would be to handle it carefully and reinforce it with glue Good luck fixing it, it's worth the effort.
