How to Prevent Gamer Thumb?

Hi I've been a gamer all my life since the pampies to the paddies. How the fuarrrk do I prevent getting "gamer thumb"? Does it only happen if you're a console gamer or do all gamers get it eventually? Please help I don't wanna end up having massive deformed thumbs.

Stop gaming so long without breaks of at least half an hour. No way around it. Your body adapts to what you put it though. I suppose maybe you could wear closed finger compression gloves. They usually are for people with arthritis. My thinking is it would even out the pressure on the thumb. Not sure if it makes risk of tendonitis better or worse. There are ones that only cover the thumb and wrist but i couldnt find any that were closed finger. Pic is some Tommy Copper ones which appears to have rubber grips.

If you want a cheap option take some cotton gloves cut off the fingers you dont need leaving thumb and wrist area then roll a couple layers of finger cots over. If you don't know what they are they look like condoms for micropeens because they come rolled up. Or just cut the fingers off some nitril or latex gloves and use that instead of finger cots if you can't find them. This may get a lot sweatier than copper compression gloves though but is a way to test out the feel.

Such things might be the result of weak finger/wrist strength, OP, you might try doing some fingertip pushups to make them stronger.

Is this a joke post? Because this actually happened to me and I've been wondering why it might be. My thumbs are freakishly huge compared to my other fingers, and I do a lot of gaming with a controller.
