I like playing text games and roleplaying online. Here's a few clients and games I like to play. >Clients - Mushclient > Windows only, one of the oldest clients and so you're most likely to see plugin packs for this one >http://mushclient.com/ - Mudlet > https://www.mudlet.org/ > Cross platform, works on all operating systems, supports scripting in lua/python/etc and has a plugin system built in - TinTin++ > CLI-based client for linux, has its own scripting language you can use in either of the two clients above too, bare minimum and spartan OOTB Games I've Played - Sindome > Cyberpunk roleplaying game where you try to survive The Big City despite everything the jannies throw at you > Not really a combat game so you'll want to exercise power over others using your nonexistant social skills or by playing a female > You gain skillpoints through afking, skillpoint gain capped at 3 per day - Alter Epoch > The Other Cyberpunk game with heavy roleplay > Has a turn-based combat system where you emote out combat > Gain XP through making long emotes and then XP is allocated to skills used recently > Big Crafting System > Downside is furries play the game. - Geas > German Medieval Grinding Poverty Game > "realtime" combat system where you can target limbs and lose them, too > learn by doing skill system with extreme grind rewarding specialized builds and punishing jack-of-all-trades characters > Weird fantasy lore with hyperborea tier writing, though the staple fantasy races are playable - Inquisition: Again > Shares features like combat and XP with Alter Epoch because AE is a fork of it > Medieval Roleplaying game with strong focus on a peasantry vs highborn conflict > Extremely in-depth magic system that requires you to play text-mahjong to cast spells > In-depth crafting system with ascii art for things you create > Some people speak french and try to pass it off as the "roman" of the game's lore. - HavenRPG > Urban Fantasy VtM type game > Combat and mechanical sex, you can get RAPED > ?!WEIRD!? Engines - Evennia https://github.com/evennia/evennia > Only modern MUD engine > Made in python > God save you

I tried to play AArdwolf and Sindome, but didn't got far, I'm not a heavily social person and I mostly played singleplayer games my whole life so I can't enjoy them, but I think they are interesting

>>5322 They are definitely something. I like to stay away from 'commercial' MUDs though since once money gets involved things tend to get pretty bad. They are something though aren't they?

I miss lainMOO. Since that's too short to post by itself, are there any MUDs that really make you feel like you're playing a non-human species? Everything I've looked into treats races as flavor text - you can still use the same items, travel to the same places, navigate the same spaces, etc. as a human can. Only game I ever played that even started to explore this was Everquest, where race size is a factor in what armor you can wear, what spaces you can enter, and your metabolism. There was also varying degrees of natural night vision, but some MUDs have that too, I think. Ideally, a MUD exploring these ideas would also have mechanics for quadrupeds, dietary differences, mechanics for different senses, special actions, etc. I'd code it myself if I wasn't too autistic to settle on an architecture & world representation.

>>5340 Geas kind of has something like that. All the races have different statcaps with humans being the baseline, they also all have different sizes for armour but this is kind of badly implemented and you can't really tell how large/small the armour is compared to your char unless you closely examine it. There's several degrees of night vision too with dwarves having the best since they live in caves and elves having the second-best. Each race has its own lang they can use, uh.. I would say that you'd probably be safe with looking for MUDs that aren't based off whatever carrionfields is based off of because those have like 100 races that're all marginally different but then again I've never played those muds so I wouldn't know. I think you're gonna have to make this mud yourself, sweet.

>>5310 I used to play the hell out of DoorMUD. http://dmud.thebbs.org/ And there was a game about 10 years ago that was on the google play store, I forget the name of it. It was something like bitrunner or zonerunner or something like that. It was short lived, but was really nice.

Anyone know any good ones? All the ones I know are filled with swathes of old people who don't ever do anything interesting.

>>5659 Been playing one called Alter Epoch. It's all right but instead all the players are horny anime wankers, and the admins are all white women who keep falling for random internet predator/grooming tactics despite being over 30. I also believe they're being trolled by Peruvians for some reason so they disabled the webclient. Here's the link. https://ae-mud.com

>>5659 I've been playing BatMUD (https://www.bat.org/) on and off since about 1999. Still fairly active as far as MUDs go: I usually see 100-200 players on (who are mostly Finns). Folks on there don't seem super social nowadays, but there is a LOT of content and a lot to occupy oneself with mechanics-wise.
