Exactly what it says on the tin Which ones have you been playing recently, lainons? Personally, I've been checking out Darkwood lately, but what about you?
Zhora · 2020-06-06 22:21
>>3181 Beneath a steel sky
Eldon Tyrell · 2020-06-06 23:33
Not sure if it counts as horror but I've been playing some Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead recently. Died horribly to the zombie of a prepper when I invaded his bunker.

>>3182 I didn't really played Beneath a steel sky, but wasn't that a cyberpunk/post-nucler (or something in this kind) game? Am I missing something here?
H.R. Giger · 2020-06-07 21:57
>>3187 Yeah, sorry, I meant that for another thread, but the main guys voice is really fuarrrking scary

I started playing Blair Witch and it seems pretty good. Looks good, feels good and everything looks very nice but its easy to lose sight of the dog. I was playing Kuon a bunch too but I quit and really need to go back to it >.>
Delilah · 2020-06-27 15:44
>>3259 >Kuon Watching a bit of footage. Japanese houses in the Heian period were actually lit that dimly. Women would have their skin painted white and blackened teeth, so they'd look insanely creepy. No wonder Japan is so heavy on ghost stories.

>>3262 Though I have to specify the rest of this fashion is Edo period, Heian had those weird eyebrows and longer loose hair and looked a lot weirder

Recently bought Silent Hill Homecoming and Downpour because screw it, I've played all the other SH games that matter. Played through Homecoming and it was just...average. I would get seeing it as a disappointment considering what it was supposed to follow up but I was expecting much worse given its reputation. It wasn't great but far from abysmal too, at no point did I regret giving it a try. A few hours into Downpour now and immediately it hits me with both an ambition that HC lacked and a lack of polish that HC had. I do like that it seems to be a much less action oriented game but its technical shortcomings are kind of letting it down for me, it's kind of a pain to play and it just feels cheap. Maybe soldiering on will change my tune but I had a better first impression with HC.
H.R. Giger · 2020-08-11 20:02
>>3318 hc was almost unplayable for me on pc which is like kicking dead whales down the beach, its far from being a good silent hill game but i had a lot of good memories making my friends play it and watching them get spooked, of you still own a 360 then thats the optimal way to play it
Haruyoshi · 2020-08-31 09:32
>>3181 I finished SOMA a few weeks ago, it's the most I've enjoyed a game since I played shadow of the colossus on ps2 on my tiny soykafty crt tv like 12 years ago
Random · 2020-08-31 11:40
>>3259 Its pretty good but barely related to the actual films. Its also one of many modern adventure horror games with shoehorned in survival horror mechanics that don't add anything to the game.
Yet Another Lainon · 2020-09-02 04:33
I started playing deadly premonition on the ps3 today, the graphics are terrible and the gameplay too
The Oracle · 2020-09-05 15:31
>>3443 SOMA is one of the best horror games out there full stop. Not only is it a fairly competent environmental horror but it manages to render new things terrifying (the sea trench walk) and also explores more philosophical horror about consciousness. Genuinely a superb game although I would have trimmed some of the hide and seek out of the Theta segment, especially from the maintenance tunnels.
Ein · 2020-10-24 22:13
>>3447 I actually enjoyed it quite a bit for awhile, the terrible PC port ended up being unplayable for me though.

>>3447 The cutscenes tho. A cranberry, turkey, cornflake sandwich is the mark of a man atoning for great sins.
