Piracy Console Suggestions

Arthur · 2020-05-17 02:47
Hey, in this quran time I've been considering buying a 7th gen (ie Xbox 360, PS3, etc.) home console in these boring times. But the thing is I'm a cheap bastard but buying used games doesn't support the original developers, so I'm looking to pirate. Anyone know any consoles I can easily pirate games on? (no soldering required pls) I'm just looking to play some games my PC can't run like the last of us, red dead, etc.

>>3116 Yea get a ps3, HEN has been around for a while now and it's stupid easy, just need a USB
Awanama · 2020-05-22 11:46

3ds is really easy to hack and has lots of exclusives on it

>>3116 Xbox 360 is cool and cheap for pirating. If you choose lt3.0 instead of Freeboot you can even play online the few games that are still played.

>>3116 Wii is the cheapest piratable option at least where I live.

it sounds like you want to run xbox/ps games, so maybe this isn't relevant to you, but nintendo systems are either extremely hackable, have very good emulators, or both (with the exception of the switch, since it's still new). i've of course run the dolphin emulator for years and at this point its honestly better than the original hardware in a lot of ways, especially for gamecube games. the wii u emulator (cemu) isn't as polished but still runs everything i've thrown at it. the wii and 3ds both have very active homebrew scenes. not so much for older ds or gamecube but this is kind of beside the point since the wii/3ds are backwards compatible. apparently ps emulation is really good, but i haven't bothered trying it. for both xbox and ps i find that all the games i want to play have pc ports and the pc ports are easier to pirate, cheap enough to be worth buying, or at least can be found cheaply on keyshops or ebay. >>3128 can confirm. i have a 3ds and at this point hacking it is trivial. literally copy some payload to an sd card and do a little trick with the built in original ds emulator. there's a very nice guide that shouldn't be hard to search for. honestly i would recommend doing this even if you aren't going to pirate since it gives you the ability to back up save files and alter them if you want. >>3127 i know the ps vita homebrew scene was good, but i've never owned one (although i had the original psp). is it still fairly active? are people just using them to pirate jrpgs and visual novels mostly? the western game selection of ps vita was pretty bad last i checked. what are you using yours for?

>>3141 I hacked my 3DS pretty early on and I'm wondering if there's more convenient tools now. Do you have a resource for getting up to speed on the modern stuff?

Silly question here but I don't want to create an account to psxplace. Is it possible to set "HEN" ps3 to run ps2 and ps3 games from disk AND run pirated games from usb?
Awanama · 2020-05-27 15:35
>>3141 Mostly i play jrpg series like YS, Trails of Heroes, Atelier and Tales. For homebrew still active, you can check VitaHacks, VitaPrivacy and GbaTemp. If you don't mind about weebs, you can go for vita
Ivan Horvat · 2020-05-27 16:09
>>3150 Not sure if I got your question right, but after you install hen yeah you can still play original disk games
Debbie Charteris · 2020-06-04 15:45
>>3141 The Vita scene is still pretty active. An N64 emulator finally arrived a few months ago and games like Mario 64 and Mario Kart are fully playable. A Dreamcast emulator is also being worked on. I do use my Vita to play a lot of VN's though ye, as well as play games like Persona and stream my PC to my Vita so I can play everything I want on it

>>3170 >stream my PC to my Vita so I can play everything I want on it How? Are you using steam link or something?

3DS (can run DS and GBA natively) and Vita (can run PSP natively and possibly PS1) should be your go-tos. After that, PS3 (can run PS1 and PS2 ISOs) and a Wii U if you want the entire Nintendo console back catalog. Also look into picking up a PS4 (ideally Pro) on FW 6.72 or lower while the hack is still relatively obscure and prices are low. You should be able to find a brand new Pro on 6.72 pretty easily. Check wololo if you're not sure.

The xbox 360 can emulate PSP games if you are interested in a modded the console, but since you said no soldering, you would want to buy a RGH/JTAG xbox 360. Although I have an xbox 360, I have no experience modding them but I do know that if you buy a pre-JTAGed console then you can load games off of a USB device; plenty of tutorials floating around in the information super-highway

>if you are interested in a modded the console Brilliant I didn't even bother writing down the password to fix the stroke I apparently had when typing that

Pretty much any desktop computer can emulate up to PS2/GC/WII/PSP nowadays. Set up an emulation frontend like BigBox, EmulationStation, or Hyperspin. Get a large drive like 4TB+ and before you know it you'll be sitting with tens of thousands of games and a rom collecting addiction.

Get a PS3. It's way easier to pirate and emulate games than the 360 and it has way more exclusives. In terms of multiplats, PS3 versions are usually slightly inferior but not a whole lot (except Rockstar and Bethesda games and Bayonetta, stay away from those).
