Cyberpunk 2077

Chani · 2019-06-06 03:11
I figured this would be the best place if any to discuss excitement and hope for this game. Hopes: Parkour elements possibly featuring wall and obstacle climbing, ledge and roof hopping (It would add to the /punk/ feel of exploration), It'd be super comfy to climb up some building and chill out alone, scoping out the surrounding areas. stealth elements including visibility, noise, lighting, could even have thermal tracking implants or other forms of enemy tracking/locating Hacking seems to be an interesting concept in this game, I'd be interested to see further implementation and uses. Too many people seem to be focused on the "negative aspects" of the game (sunlight, seemingly lack of different dialog choices, barren environments, etc) I guess we'll see in a couple days at E3, but nonetheless, what hopes do you guys have for the game?
Tomohisa "Tom" Kanezaki · 2019-06-06 18:03
I hope there's some more expansive chill open driving than what I've seen. Like some of the attempts to recreate Deus Ex in GTA really lampshade how claustrophobic and fenced-in the last two DE games' level design is compared to the first games. and vehicles are only ever used in cut scenes. The driving looked really cramped and crowded, even in the chase, and I'm hoping there's some fuarrrking freeways you can just cruise around on at night and enjoy the... what's that Japanese word for watching night city lights from a distance and feeling comfy? I'm sure we had a thread dedicated to it...

>>2046 Seeing as how character customization isn't going to be that in-depth, I'm hoping they make the game easy to mod so we can see all kinds of crazy fan-made stuff. >>2048 >attempts to recreate Deus Ex in GTA Sauce?
Dujour · 2019-06-11 13:24
>>2058 As I understand it this system in a Pen&Paper RPG is implemented to prevent overpower player characters. I think Shadowrun also have a similar mechanic, and it make sens in those games as P&P RPG are about teamwork and collaboration (it won't be fun I one player would be able to do everything by him self). In a single player computer game this system might be used for balancing but maybe the devs will prefer giving the players a option to become a killing machine as the game seams action oriented. They might also use a different system to prevent players to become overpowerd like require some special modules to install new cybernetics like in Deus Ex and Deus Ex: HR that are in limited quantity in the game.
Void · 2019-06-12 14:59
My biggest hope/worry is regarding whether the game will really support more meaningful world and npc interaction or if it will fall into the Deus Ex trap of largely reducing cyberpunk to window dressing for kill boxes and stealth puzzles. I want more in depth conversations along with interactive systems in the game world and less combat tourism. The preview articles about going to pacifica to slaughter hordes of generic gang members worry me.

I'm not interested. It looks like another retread of the same ground as DE:HR or DE:MD, except they have no real interest of having any sort of interesting social commentary and just want "cyberpunk" to be a purely aesthetic thing. They already backpedaled on it being an RPG where you can take different paths and careers, there's only one linear storyline and the other factions in the world are just there to be window dressing and sidequests. Maybe in five years when the DLC is done and people have figured out how to mod it it'll be worth ten bucks.
The Phantom Phreak · 2019-06-18 07:47
>40 min of the gameplay they released are all pre-meditated storyline with no open world dinamycs other than a measly vending machine My guess is that the open world dynamics they are hyping up is very limited and might not even scratch the surface of some other older open world games. It might have a good storyline tho, but the skills upgrade stuff is obviously a gimmick that serves no purpose to advance the game other than waste your time with "omg so cool".

It's called a genre. Or are you calling this game a Doom clone too?
Neo · 2019-06-18 14:11
>>2091 If it has the same themes, aesthetic, and mechanics as something I've played before why would I be interested? That's not a genre, it's someone else's take on the same game. I understand your feeling, I remember being very excited when Deus Ex 3 was announced, but as far as I can see those caught up in the 2077 hype either don't remember or were too young for that.
Ivan Petrov · 2019-06-18 14:50
>>2092 I've been playing Deus Ex since it originally came out, friendo, and I've played them all. The genre you're looking for is rpg/shooter/stealth and there's a crapload of games with those qualifications. Right now I'm hyped about it because Squeenix pulled the plug on the DX franchise after it didn't make good numbers so this is my personal replacement. And since we're at that I really wish there were more games on the same vein.
Vasya Pupkin · 2019-06-18 21:20

>>2606 The fact that things will go downhill not far from now really puts your life goals into perspective. I wanted to be a writer. Realistically, I never expected to change the world, but I put passion in it as if that were my goal. I thought that culture was the beating heart of man. But stripped of everything, man only has sticks and stones. As a writer you're just an entertainer. What's the word? Content creator. You're writing soykaf to keep 'em busy for a while. I've looked down at the things I was doing and every time I just saw a product. It's horrifying. Even if I put all of my heart into it, it doesn't change. I don't even think that what I make might inspire someone like things inspired me in the past. At best I think it'll keep someone entertained, give 'em a laugh or two. And it was really all just that. You called it culture to signal that you were one of the few who cared about the subtext. Even that was just a social game. I'm an intellectual, I give a soykaf about what this means! In a way it's even more blindly consumerist. You swear by this product and put it into your heart, dedicate your life to making more of it, instead of just chewing it up like everyone else while you go about your day.

The new footage is looking pretty good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RF0cRaVVQco I just realized something, though - the requirements list Windows 10, but not Windows 7. We don't know if this means it's Windows 10 exclusive, and I don't think anyone will promise or confirm anything about that soon. There's no way I'm replacing my Windows 7 installation or giving CDPR money if they force me to use Windows 10. But I still want to play the game, so as a last resort I might dual-boot Windows 7 and 10 on my machine. There's plenty of guides on how to do it, but none on whether it's even a good idea. I remember reading that dual-booting can cause instability and weird bugs, but that was in the context of Linux/Windows and not different Windows versions.

bunch of media sites got access to gameplay demos. have any of you read through some of the articles? from what i've read it seems like the customization, role playing aspects, story choices, etc. are really good. it also seems like stealth and, to a lesser extent, hacking are nothing special, which is kind of disappointing given that i love playing "stealth mage" type builds in rpgs. i really hope they polish up the stealth gameplay before the actual release and don't give us bethesda-tier crap.

This game is buggy as soykaf lol. CDPR seems to be taking a cue from the Todd Howard school of "using your customers as beta testers". Still pretty fun though. I haven't played enough for a real verdict but whether or not it has the staying power of a Bethesda RPG or will be played once and forgotten like the deus ex reboots will largely depend on whether the emergent gameplay is varied enough. I'm a bit concerned by how quickly I'm getting levels and perks. Seems like by the end of the game I'll be good at everything which would make the RPG elements kind of pointless, but I certainly hope I'm wrong. Say what you will about Bethesda RPGs, but they do a decent job of making multiple playthroughs worthwhile.
Hong, Guil Dong · 2020-12-11 00:18
From what I hear, it's very shallow and couldn't even get the aesthetic right in the end.
Crazy Jake · 2020-12-11 00:27
I've played about 5 hours of it so far. Not enough for a full review, but overall, my impression of it so far has been pretty good. I picked the Corpo background and was initially happy that I could act like an entitled, spoiled priss, but as soon as I reached the convergence point of the three backgrounds, I noticed I stopped getting those flavour of dialogue options. Hopefully, they'll come back as I progress through the game, but I'm not holding my breath. I was having a lot of fun being mean to my assistant and telling bouncers to look after my car while I conducted business. I feel like I'm getting kinda old though, because the game feels very overwhelming to me. The city is (or at least feels) huge and there's just stuff happening everywhere. This is the sort of game that I would have played 14 hours a day for a week straight when I was younger, but now I play for 5 hours and I need to take a break because I get tired. I wonder what the point of having a penis size slider was too, and if there will be narrative consequences for it.

>>3967 Yep. I've seen a fair amount of gameplay at this point, and it basically is the thinnest of cyberpunk aesthetics. Most of the approach is sex. Gibson and Stephenson set the bar for sex by making it a brief flash of strong connection in cyberpunk, rather than something that saturates the environment. Really pathetic. >>3966 It'll be forgotten soon enough. It's simply too repetitive and shallow.

>>2665 >You're writing soykaf to keep 'em busy for a while. I've looked down at the things I was doing and every time I just saw a product. It's horrifying. But the horror is caused by unrealistic expectation of literature. All human art is an attempt to communicate ideas by laying out symbols in a pattern and hoping they register. Example: the character had a choice at the end of the movie that mirrored the choice at the start, but they made a different decision because the story was them growing as a character. That's extremely contrived, but very satisfying.

I watched one of my friends play Cyberpunk 2077 while we were drinking and shooting the soykaf. It seems competently put together and ran smooth at 1080p low on a 1070. Looked like a cross between borderlands and watch dogs. Not my cup of tea, but if I see something that actually stands out to me, I'll pick it up when it's cheap. >>3973 The reboots had fun gameplay, but the level design and story didn't hook me like the Original or even Invisible War. I swear the writers only played Liberty Island in the original with their focus on nonlethal vs lethal like it's a real choice. The only reason Paul harped on about nonlethals was because you were killing his compatriots. The new story was not good, especially all the stuff about how the man is keeping down the Augmented Americans. It's so patently absurd because augs would be the domain of the rich and powerful. The original was so believable, and even moreso replaying it after 9/11 (never forget). IW was less grounded because they decided to make all the original games endings simultaneously canon, but it was cool to see the consequences.

I've played like 12 hours so far, I think it's a slightly above average game so far and would rate 7.5 or 8 out of 10. Graphics are very good on the models for many of the main characters and certain things here and there, otherwise the game just has "good" graphics by today's standards. The story is very interesting and cinematic, lots of awesome nods to Neuromancer which I've enjoyed; I will say however that the balance is probably more around 80% talking and dialogue / 20% doing things. That doesn't necessarily bother me because the story is really good but it does almost border on being an extremely cinematic visual novel at times. I've been kind of disappointed by the open world (like I am in most open world games to be honest) to where I don't feel it serves much of a purpose unless you enjoy driving around and looking at random stuff which can be cool when you first get a game. Lots of the stuff in the game is gated by story stuff which annoyed me, for example I found out about "Clouds" which is a cool place you go in the story, I read about it while exploring in one of the intranet terminals, it said that it was in megabuilding 8 and I spent the time to explore and find it. That was fun, but it turns out you can't use the service yourself, it's for a one-time story deal and that really annoyed me. I find the gunplay satisfying, but many of the uniquely cyberpunk 2077 aspects of combat feel tacked on and like you're going out of your way to use them for the sake of using them. Other than short circuiting robots it's better to just use rifles and pistols. I don't know I'm just kind of word vomiting and giving my impression. I think it's a cool game but I felt like they easily could have done a way better job. Oh yeah I can't find any good side questlines, not saying they don't exist but they've all been one off isolated meaningless incidents so far. I'll continue the game and beat it as I'm having fun but I think when you stack it up to games like Deus Ex and even New Vegas it becomes apparent that they dropped the ball a bit in many ways. Oh yeah one more thing. The fuarrrking clutter, every room has one million tiny little things you loot, most of which don't matter. It feels like there is no sense of satisfying gameplay loop because it's like >clear room >walk around it for 30-45 seconds scouring every corner to make sure you don't miss stuff >repeat sometimes keeping it simple really is best in certain aspects.

>>3994 This is pretty much how I feel about it. It really defied my expectations. Note that I've never played much of the witcher, so I'm only familiar with CDPR's work from listening to other people talk about it. For some reason I thought cyberpunk was going to be somewhere between the bioware and bethesda styles of RPG. It isn't like that at all. Oddly enough it reminded me of Grand Theft Auto with some (but not enough IMO) nods to the classic immersive sim genre. Maybe a bit like ubisoft's big budget sandbox games as well. Point being, this isn't a game where your character is a blank slate. The game tells you who this person is and what they're like; you just pick their hair color and, more importantly, what they do. The main quest line is a pretty linear story, supplemented with side quests that form tidy little mini arcs with a reward at the end but not much of a lasting impact on the main story. It isn't like a more traditional RPG where some side quests will not be available depending on what kind of character you're playing (or at least wouldn't make sense to do if you're committed to the roleplay). Like in the Elder Scrolls each class has it's own faction quest line thing, and you really aren't supposed to do all of them with one character. Cyberpunk isn't like that. You're expected to do any side quest you encounter and feel like completing. This isn't to say you don't have options. As with many immersive sim games the real options are in how you actually carry out the missions and how you spec your character. Even more "meta" decisions that you make outside of a particular mission usually have more to do with *how* you are going to accomplish something rather than *what* you're going to accomplish. When you get a mission you'll be told what needs to be done and be handed a couple leads. If you dig around a bit you can usually find a few additional leads that usually involve some puzzle solving and produce more elegant solutions to the problem. It's all a lot like deus ex and the game pulls it off very well. Actually, I think it does it better than Deus Ex because the writing is usually better. Deus Ex, on the other hand, does its more nuts and bolts mission puzzles better. If you're told to break into a building and steal something, Deus Ex gives you all kinds of weird and wonderful ways to go about that, with lots of potential for mixed class emergent solutions to boot. In cyberpunk I found myself looking for the "stealth hacker door" because I'm playing a stealth hacker character and I know damn well the devs put a door in for me somewhere. I almost always found it. It's usually something like "just go through the vent behind the dumpster". In deus ex you might get off easy in one mission because you've for the right perks to walk in the front door, but the next mission you're doing some arcane puzzle solving because you don't, and even though the puzzles take more time they're never annoying because you're meeting new people and getting to know the world.

>>3993 >I swear the writers only played Liberty Island in the original with their focus on nonlethal vs lethal like it's a real choice. I think they focused on this because they were able to create a fun trade off. Lethal is permanent, easy, cheap, but loud. Stealth is temporary, harder, more expensive, but quiet. The game is similar to a survival horror game. There's not a lot of resources and your pockets are small. The need to avoid detection and the scarcity of ammo constrains player choices and turns even simple rooms into a puzzle. ...until you deliberately max out your inventory size and turn yourself into a walking armory with min maxing. By the time you get to Tai Young Medial, you're an unstoppable cyborg killing machine. Every boss fight starts with a stun lock and ends with a reload.

I noticed another major difference to the pre-release version - there is SOOOO MUCH literature - messages, emails, blurb!!!! I don't mean a "I want to play a game not read" amount of text, but a "am I reading a book or playing a triple A game? WTF?". This indicates CDPR had 'devs' who didn't know how to code and employed them creating useless text fluff for their 'contribution'. 43 hours in. It's a great game, very fun to play, plenty to explore, tons of texts to read, absolutely amazing environments and scenery. Starts rather slow and story holds you tight, but it becomes more like GTA and 100x better after you get a terrorist tulpa and more freedom. Progression feels great, now I double-jump over buildings, walk on roofs and have 250 different ways of cleaning the room. Unlike in other RPGs, variety stays through the game and paths that you haven't invested in are still viable - I have 0 combat perks or skills and still can own everything with firearms, which I do from time to time. Controls on PC are somewhat bad so I play with a gamepad - there's not much precise shooting going on (you mostly wait for your smart sniper rifle to lock on the head) and cars/bikes steer MUCH better with triggers and sticks. Story is great, characters are great, everything is cyberpunk as fuarrrk, nothing is normal, nobody is sane, everyone is either a psychopathic edgelord or a naive fairy holding on to hUmAn vAlUeS and getting fuarrrked in the ass by the City and it's exactly how it should be in a game called "Cyberpunk". Everything in this game is exactly how it should be in a cyberpunk game and I love it. Bugs? Yeah, whatever, mostly cosmetic, seen worse. Hope they make it a franchise or something, this universe has way too much lore for just one game from one studio.
Hiro Protagonist · 2020-12-14 20:20
>>4029 >Unlike in other RPGs, variety stays through the game and paths that you haven't invested in are still viable I'm still trying to decide how I feel about this. On one hand it's nice that you can change things up if you get bored of one play style but on the other hand I wonder if replay value will suffer if all builds eventually converge to the same thing (i.e. being good at everything) in the late game. There are a ton of different perks, armor, and weapons though, which results in what feels like fast progression but it still takes a long time to truly max anything out. Not to mention the upgrade/crafting system for gear, which I assume will help out in the late game once I've found my favorite gun and just want to dump points into making it more powerful. Stealth is fun but I'm having trouble making non-pacifist stealth viable. Mostly because I haven't been able to find a gun that can one-shot people and also can be fitted with a silencer. I've been stacking perks under the cool tree that raise crit chance and headshot damage when you aren't in combat, but still my silenced weapons take multiple shots to kill people, which usually gives them enough time to reveal my position. Also I can't figure out how to play stealth melee/blades. Maybe I'm missing perks but if you sneak up to someone there doesn't seem to be any point in stabbing them when the grapple thing is already an instakill (unless they're strong enough to resist it... but if that's the case you're not going to be able to kill them in one stab anyway). Overall my main complaint wrt combat is that the enemies are too spongey; at least they are on the highest difficulty. It's fine that I die in two shots, that's a fun challenge, but it limits what you can do as a stealth character if most enemies can soak up multiple headshots from anything that isn't a sniper. This game could use a "hardcore mode" like fallout has that turns off some of the aides, lowers carry weight, makes food useful, and makes both the player and the enemies do more damage.

The game is generally pretty good, but I still think it easily needed another year in development. The story is actually pretty interesting, but the main quest is far too short, especially by the standards of the same devs who made The Witcher 3. Most of the game is just wandering around the map, ticking off boxes by doing various mini-missions and finding tarot cards which, while fun, does get boring and samey after a while. I managed to plough through about 80% of the story and only stopped when I googled how many acts the game had (spoiler: it's two) and that I was already most of the way through the second act. I wasn't even rushing, I just assumed I still had way more of the main quest left to play through. This leads me onto the next point: pacing. The pacing in this game is just fuarrrked. Without spoiling anything, Act 2 puts pressure on you to progress through the main quest as fast as possible, implying that something bad will happen otherwise. However, Act 2 is also when you're supposed to go out exploring the city, doing side quests and generally box-ticking map markers. Originally, I assumed that there would a lull after Act 2 ended and that I would have a bit of breathing room to do some exploring, but apparently that is what I'm supposed to be doing now. It feels very weird, like I'm just wasting time or something. Also, Act 1 ends far too quickly and the bulk of the side quests don't appear until Act 2 anyway. There are a lot of good things about the game though. They nailed the ambiance in the city and I enjoy driving around it, exploring different areas and looking for the secrets. I would go so far as to say that Night City is the best part of the game and obviously had a huge chunk of man hours dedicated to crafting it. Still, I wish they developed more time to the story and less to making a huge ass city with all these unconnected busy-work dots on it. I've heard people call it a "GTA clone", but it reminds me more of an Assassin's Creed game in this respect. Oh yeah, and the glitches are plentiful. I've had to reload quite a few times because my hands get stuck while trying to hack computers, encountered tons of visual glitches and missing dialogues/shard texts/etc. Pic related: a random floating phone I saw while walking down the street. Made me crack up.

15 hours in and I'm very conflicted about the game. I love the story, setting, atmosphere, music, gunplay. I think the side quests are very fun. Driving on keyboard is a mess. My gripe with it is everything else. On the technical side the game is fuarrrking awful. It's glitched as fuarrrk. The city NPC AI is technically non existant. Performance wise is awful as soykaf. So I'm conflicted. Right now it's between a 5 or a 6/10. if they ironed out the glitches, actually programmed the AI, and changed the way the engine loads/unloads content, it'd easily be a 9.5/10. I'm having tons and tons of fun, it has been years since a game has caused me to lose sleep. There's a seriously good game underneath all the pile of crap. Or how in mass effect you get that "ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO DO THIS MISSION? YOU SHOULD DO THE SIDE QUESTS FIRST." message before you start the third act? It's absolutely essential to include breaks like this in an RPG story because it gives the player character an in-universe excuse to fuarrrk around with fun but ultimately pointless side quests. I handled this in my roleplay by imagining that my character (ACTUAL SPOILER:) accepted their inevitable death and just wanted to fuarrrk soykaf up and help people with their last month on earth. I delayed taking the leads that give them hope of a cure, so that when i start them i don't interrupt the pacing. Honestly, they handled this better than FO4, Skyrim, ME3, or even the Deus Ex remakes (although in the latter there were less pointless sidequests so it was less of an issue). The "wait for so and so to call you" and "meet me at such and such time" mechanics are great because there are situations where you actually can't progress in the main quest, so you can do side quests without feeling like you're wasting time. Still, I think they should have added a gap between the climax event of act 1 and the big reveal that motivates act 2, or at least made more of the game open to you in act 1. It feels like an extended prologue/tutorial. >I've heard people call it a "GTA clone", but it reminds me more of an Assassin's Creed game in this respect. In terms of story pacing, I'd broadly agree. Rockstar games tend to do sidequests really well, and I can't say that Cyberpunk lives up to their standards. However, I will say that the way side quests turn into little story arcs spanning multiple missions is more like GTA than AC. If they were copying AC then your only sidequests would be those hit contracts you get from random fixers. On the other hand, GTA's quest design is really repetitive. AC always had interesting puzzlebox infiltration missions even if their impact on the story was minimal, and I think Cyberpunk does as well (which largely derives from their aping of Deus Ex's quest design). >>4034 >The city NPC AI is technically non existant. This is definitely true. Enemy AI is pretty mediocre too. It's not terrible when you compare it to other games out there, particularly other RPGs, but I was disappointed that they didn't do more with it. The one thing they did do better than average is the stealth/search AI. Enemies don't just beeline to you as soon as you fire an unsilenced weapon, but they do have a general idea of where the sound came from. If you're spotted the AI will follow you, but if you break line of sight they'll search for you in a believable way.

Am I the only one that really likes the game? It isn't everything it could be, but it still is fun. The story is nice, the world is nice, walking around at night as well as in the day is cool It has the typical problem of standard events around every corner which becomes ridiculous (just like witcher, where you have monsters around every corner), but still a very good game. The level of technical difficulty to produce a game running in 48Kb required ingenuity (See the mathematics of Cambridge scholars Braben & Bell in the game "Elite" for example) The fact there are more bugs, and lower quality standards today demonstrate regression of product quality. Not a big fan of having a celebrity as a main character in a game. I don't like Hollywood and I think Keanu Reeves is probably a pedophile, or drug addict or something else equally fuarrrked. Seeing a Hollywood person in the game is a big red flag for me, because Hollywood has a recent history of taking cyberpunk classics and fist-fuarrrking them. Think Alita: Battle Angel, New Bladerunner and GITS. Also, they are fuarrrking planning on ruining Akira with a soykafty Hollywood remake next year as well. Another thing is the price of the game. $100.00!?!?! For realz!? I deliberately consumed as little marketing about this game as possible. I feel like if I did, I would be sorely disappointed because the list of features is very average, even somewhat outdated. Even without knowing what they promised, it seems clear that they didn't fulfill their promises. I still bought it on account of being an absolute sucker for the cyberpunk aesthetic (obv there's not going to be "real" cyberpunk in a AAA game). On it's own, the game is fun enough. It has its strong points which are the characters, story bits, worldbuilding and aesthetic. All of these it does well and they're what make the game enjoyable. It also has weak points, such as trying to do everything GTA does (but poorly), actually trying to roleplay (V is an established character, Street Kid is obviously canon), the world feeling kind of empty once you try to take a closer look (only 2 prostitutes total) and its over-reliance on sexual imagery to be edgy. The above could be a passable mix of priorities, making for a decent game, but it is unfortunately marred by being incredibly buggy, unperformant, and unpolished. Bugs include models getting stuck during emotional cutscenes, clipping through things everywhere, and having to frequently reload the game Performance means not hitting 60fps on a 1k PC less than a year old Polish includes cops being unable to drive so they teleport into your blind spot the instant you commit a crime, NPC behaviour being just bad, missing obvious stuff like being able to get a haircut. Overall 7/10, would become 8/10 when they fix the last paragraph.

Notes on my Cyberpunk so far: >In-game story is pretty fun and makes sense so far >Johnny Silverhand's character has been butchered from the tabletop game, he is now a complete psycho that is willing to murder countless amounts of innocents to achieve his goals and is completely heartless to V and only wants them dead before realizing that killing V would also result in his death as well >Character designs range from fuarrrking awesome (like MOTHERFUCKING ADAM SMASHER) to downright stupid (like with some of the gangs and people you meet on the street) >Drving is stiff as hell and NPCs have an annoying habit of jumping right in front of your car and getting run over, reminds me a lot of GTA 4 of Watchdogs except somehow worse >Combat is much more simple than what was teased, seriously feels like borderlands which I'm not a fan of either, enemies take too many bullets to go down, you can also go nuts with stabbing a person and they won't even flinch >Hacking is simple as well, thankfully it is not as annoying as in a game like Watchdogs, but it feels significantly cut down from what was teased, if you're in a middle of a gunfight you probably won't use it all that much >Body modifications are dumbed down as well, gorilla arms are only useful in higher difficulties from what I've heard, and the monowire I've noticed isn't very effective in combat and you also can't hack anything with it, you can only hack off peoples limbs. >Stealth is downright bad, enemies can detect you very fast, and buildings usually only have one or two entrances, it is also pushed aside in many missions in favor of combat, it is impossible to have a 100% stealth run, you'd be pretty dumb to have a character that uses stealth only >You have to grind a lot to get good weapons and modifications, I did a lot of side missions over and over again to unlock body modifications and to get cash >AI is seriously lackluster, it seems a lot of the time that enemies only have an interest in charging you, or sitting behind a wall and lobbing grenades at you, the AI can also cheat and spawn enemies right next to you, I noticed this especially with the police, I've seen cases where the police will spawn IN THE EXACT SAME ROOM AS THE PLAYER, CDPR could have learned a lot by studying how Rockstar and Ubisoft have handled the police in their games, you can also avoid the police by driving down the road, I've never once had a police car chase after me even after I gunned down multiple officers >Bugs are plentiful here, I am seriously amazed at how many there are, either models will get stuck and frozen, or objects will randomly get suck and float in the air, or the UI will bug out and become non-responsive and useless, or people will turn into low poly mudmen when you round a corner, in the worst cases I've seen, there have been crashes or characters will not appear in missions and will soft-lock the game >Controls aren't too hot, I'm not the best PC gamer around, but I have to stretch my hand in the heat of battle, that isn't too bad, what annoys me the most is that the controls are often not responsive at all, character movement and shooting is usually fine, but doing stuff like using a health item, or using the phone, or getting in a car, or interacting with items will not always work even after multiple key presses, seriously no idea what's going on In the end, it is alright, but the game is far from polished and needs a serious amount of work before I can call it "great", if I was a person that got really hyped and spent a ton of money for the collector's edition, I would be very pissed.

What I liked: 20 hours of required gameplay, shooting effects and katana. The rest? There is no rest, it's just not ready. The "game" itself is not bad by current standards, it has a well detailed plot, but current standards are so low gamer vermins are ready to take all that bullshit as granted and give as high as 5/10 for a "game" that is overall so bad you can hardly call it a beta-test or even alpha release. The implementation of level scaled weapons and armor absolutely killed the gameplay for me, since you have to constantly swap out your guns to keep up with the growth in enemy damage and health as you level up. I heard people excuse it as "It's an RPG", but that's not a quality of all RPGs, Deus Ex didn't have this, most "classic" RPGs didn't have this. Stronger enemies were different enemies, not the same enemies with a number inside turned up a few notches. This seems to be a modern trend in RPGs to have scaling like this, so that you can feed the player flashier and bigger numbers that amount to nothing in the end since the enemies get stronger too, Skinner Boxing. The gunplay itself feels very flat because of this, many enemies can just shrug off a whole magazine of headshots from a pistol for some reason. The tabletop game had extremely lethal combat where you could drop dead after a shot or two, but in this game you have to pepper every single enemy with tons of lead until they decide to keel over, grenades exploding next to their feet launch them but barely dent their health, it all feels so dumb and cartoony, especially since the original tabletop had its combat inspired by FBI crime reports.

Who the fuarrrk even thinks that level scalling is fun?
Unnamed · 2020-12-21 16:03
>>4088 Maybe you're just playing it wrong. If you want to keep a weapon just use crafting to upgrade it, put good mods on it and pick perks that improve using it. I've only noticed having to change clothes a lot if I want to optimize stats but the armor values of different clothes aren't usually so drastically different that it would make a difference in gameplay if you pass on most of em. If you play on harder difficulty than normal then this game like previous Witcher games will require you to use items to survive most combat situations.

Nobody important · 2020-12-21 16:29
>>4093 >If you want to keep a weapon just use crafting to upgrade it Therein lies the problem, upgrading a weapon levels up the damage one player level worth, but upgrading it increases the cost of further upgrades exponentially, so to be economical with upgrade parts, it's better to switch out your gun or craft a new one instead of using the same one over long periods of time. It's worse with guns that are "Rare" or "Epic" since upgrade materials are also tiered and increase exponentially, so you'll hit a wall with those types of guns even sooner, getting a rare gun is supposed to be a reward, but the only "reward" you have is that it's much harder and more expensive to keep that gun from going obsolete as you progress through the game. And crafting itself is bound to the tech stat, so for the most part if you want to circumvent the looter shooter level scaling, you need to spec into a specific attribute in detriment to all the others, having a "mandatory" stat to level up to circumvent a crappy feature is bad balance. The entire crafting feature seems like some badly thought-out stopgap to deal with the drawbacks of looter shooter item distribution, and it messed up plenty of different things. There's no reason to stock up on medical items if you can pull them out of your ass whenever, there is no reason to buy ammo if you can pull it out of your ass, if you find a weapon blueprint, you will never need to buy the gun again since you can just craft it, and the crafted gun is going to be the highest "gear level" it can be, the crafting system pretty much almost obsoleted the whole "open world" aspect of the actual game. Something I also forgot to mention is that the guns have barely any depth, there are no secondary firing modes, there's no "unique" projectile weapons like grenade or rocket launchers (that aren't late-game implants), the Power/Tech distinction is mostly a gimmick, with one not even mattering much until you get the ricochet predictor implant, weapon types have universal ammo and there are no ammo types like New Vegas (the TTRPG had AP ammo), I don't think enemies even have armor apart from just thicker health bars, the recoil feels stiff, and the damage scaling makes the guns feel piss poor all in all. Don't even get me started on the lack of flavor items like good descriptions or data and such. Like the rest of the game, the guns and gunplay suffer from an extreme lack of depth.

good that I didn't pre-order

pirated it and played it for about 100 hours, did most side quests, played through all the starting sequences, and all endings. I did not buy into the hype when it was first announced so I went in with no clue what to expect (other than soykaf since it was a AAA game that made millions from preorders alone) The good: - some of the 'cinematic' cutscenes are very nice and atmospheric. I seriously believe this game is at its greatest during these short moments of contemplation. When it prompts you to lean or sit somewhere and wait while some npcs harps on about a heist or a plot or something or another. - the gunplay is kind of enjoyable here and there. I like what they tried to do with weapon subtypes (smart, tech and power) and they have cool sound design. Melee weapons on the other hand are a bit boring, you just spam M1 for fast attacks and hold it for strong ones, blocking and dodging are rarely ever useful. -the city looked pretty from afar, if you dont look to closely then it looks like a genuine cyberpunk city, with megabuildings like in dredd, flying cars and soykaf - I liked the akira bike, some vehicles looked nice while others were just filler. The bad: pretty much everything else lmao. -sidequests were terrible aside from like 2. boring, filler, samey content that boils down to 1. get inside the place /// 2. click this computer/escort this person outside /// 3. leave the area (there's one where you crucify a spic that's pretty neat, the election campaign thingy was also ok) -most of the time you are working for the police like what were they thinking -most of the world lore is exposed through fuarrrking notepads scattered throughout the map for god's sake -mmorpg style itemization, orange > purple > blue > green > white being the power level of items. while 'upgrades' and mods for weapons and clothing offer boring number increases -some of the stuff just looks plain unfinished or NYI. for example I specced deep into crafting and you can't craft more than 1 item at a time, meaning that if I wanted to turn my 3000+ green crafting components into blue ones (at a rate 9:1) I would've had to craft ≈333 separate instances of the thing. -police. folks already mentioned it. they make no sense in how they operate (can't drive cars, spawn just outside your field of vision) there is no reason for them existing, only to prevent the player from going bananas on the pedestrians (by the way they despawn when you look away, so a huge crowd can vanish into thin air just because you looked at an add for one second) -driving feels like you are on ice, there is no telling how colliding with objects will go, sometimes you slide right under a car like in fuarrrking harry potter while other times you hit a traffic cone and stop dead in your tracks as if it was made out of solid concrete. losing control of it is unavoidable, it gets better as you get used to it but it is still no excuse -while it pays tribute to almost everything in the cyberpunk media, it does feel like pandering a bit. I feel like it missed the whole 'high tech low life' point the genre makes. you dont really ever interact with 'poor' people, which should be like 90% of the general population in a cyberpunk setting, and there is absolutely no gameplay downside to getting chromed up. even shadowrun of all games addressed this properly with the essence system. cyberpsychosis is not a gameplay concept here, only an empty title attached to a filler sidequest. . I could go on, but overall I think the game was disappointing and forgettable at best. even if all the bugs were patched out of the game tomorrow you are left with a hollow experience that becomes a bitter journey during those small moments where the game shows promise

They literally got an 18+ rating but they showed like three boobs, and a penis/vagina in the entire game. For one, how did they get an 18+ rating. Two, fuarrrk them.

>>4523 That's all it takes for a R18 rating in USA.

so much for this game ever getting better. There were some cool scenes, but it was super grindy and didn’t feel as cyberpunky as it did like a gta mod.

>>5371 Funny now after all that hype by the fanbois pumping money up their ass. Now that they got scammed out everyone is in denial and nobody wants to admit that they wasted their money on scammers. As usual i dont except gamers to learn, just wait for the next hype hoax by some aaa game slavery scheme and pretend its gonna be different.

>>5374 Gamers being retarded? Always have been. Let's not kid ourselves a lot of us would do the same if we were in the for-profit game making business.

>>5508 With the number of people who really really really want to believe that we are in a cyberpunk dystopia I'm kind of sceptical
