Which console would you choose?

If you were only able to choose a single console to purchase, which would you choose based on the amount and quality of it's exclusive titles? It can be from any generation, current or past but it must be a console. I'm looking to buy a console, but I'm purely interested in what exclusives it has. I'm most familiar with the PS2 and that would be my first initial choice. Note that pic related isn't all exclusives but it has a lot.

Just emulate them

This is an impossible thread to answer. The exclusives i value will be completely different from the ones you value. In my case it would probably be a PS4, since most exclusives i care about (bloodborne, demon souls, persona series) are all there. The only advice i can give you is to check which consoles have retroactive compatibility. Might come in handy for you, since you don't want emulation. Also, unless you specifically like old games, be careful when buying an old console based on recommendations. Older games are often disappointing unless you already "get" the game from playing it back then. I love neverwinter nights 1 to this day, yet i wouldn't recommend it for anyone, simply because the UI and controls are a mess. Same for soul reaver, commandos..basically all old games had this flow to them, and you either get it or you end up hating the game.

PS3 Classic 60gb model, the one that is backwards compatible with both ps1 and ps2 discs. That would cover a large amount of my favourite games

Probably Wii, sure the games aren't really the best save for a select few, but it's a great emulation machine. You can get more for your money with a homebrew Wii over any other console that doesn't allow modding/homebrew/whatever. Second choice would be homebrew 3ds, though you can't emulate more powerful consoles on it, the actual 3ds library is good and there's a lot of hidden gems.

That list forgot the best game, Shrek the third, it has the best minigame called shrekelboard, its worth getting just for that minigame alone.

The PS3 if virtual titles are allowed. I don't like cinematic storygames much so my first choice was a retro console (Genesis), but the PS3 has a few fairly large (for consoles) retro collections, racing games, most of Rockstar games's PS2s, inFamous, Ratchet and Clank, and Yakuza. Just the named stuff could last me 20 years. Backwards compatibility would be ideal. Cons: My actual PS3 only lasted 8 years, controllers don't last long either, and online services are sloppy.

>>1645 Probably the original Xbox, I would have had the Dreamcast as it was my first console but I had the Xbox for so much longer. List of games I would have with it off the top of my head; -Mercenaries -Halo 1/2 -Midtown Madness 3 -NFS Underground 2 -Project Gotham Racing 2 -Shenmue 2 -JSRF -THUG 2 And probably some other ones that I cannot remember right now, it's also hackable with some emulators so that's a plus.

Wii u because while the games on it suck, it has near perfect emulation of N64, Gameboy, Wii, and some ds titles i believe.
