Who here has played "The Silver Case"? It's a sort of psychological Noir story set in a vaguely cyberpunk alternate version of 1999 Tokyo. It's also Suda51's first real game after working on titles for others before. Masafumi Takada composed its music, which is great. The presentation is very unique. It's a hybrid visual novel with 3D exploration and puzzle segments. The VN sections also have various other visual mediums incorporated: there are anime segments, FMV segments, live action segments, 3D rendered video segments... it's all very odd. Despite having been released in 1999, the story has a lot of forward thinking themes- the story comments on how crime inspires people through the media, how the internet makes it impossible to contain dangerous information, how the internet connects dangerous people, the loss of identity in modern society, various Japanese cultural and political nods, isolation in the modern world, obsession with computers... You should give it a shot if you have a stomach for anything weird.

This looks interesting OP. You've convinced me to give it a try.

>>1597 I picked it up in the steam winter sale and got a few hours in. I honestly wish they'd just drop the free movement sections and kept it 100% on rails, so far at least these parts of the game have done nothing but halt the progression of the story I'm invested in.

>>1734 Lunatics is a bit of a slog, I agree. It's basically an hour of fanservice for Moonlight Syndrome players and then everyone who survived that game dies. The Transmission storyline has a lot less useless exploration after Spectrum; Parade is when the game starts getting really good. Make sure to do the Placebo storyline concurrently with the Transmission story (i.e. Transmission 1 -> Placebo 1 -> Transmission 2 etc.).
