Favorite N64 Games

>ITT: We talk about our favorite Nintendo 64 titles that we have played.
After getting Windows 10 installed on my old HP, the first thing I did was install Project64. I have a generic USB N64 controller coming to me in the mail. Give me some good ideas of what to play lainon! I'm already starting Ocarina of Time.

Goldeneye was key.

Smash 64 is pretty good, even though it's been completely been surpassed by every sequel. But Paper Mario has been surpassed by Thousand Year Door but it's still an enjoyable game.
The best game on the N64 in my opinion was Sin and Punishment. Also, Majora's Mask was pretty nice, I prefer it to Ocarina of Time.

Super Mario 64, being a launch title, is actually pretty fun and had lots of love poured into it.

If you are into SRPGs you should give OgreBattle 64 a try

DK64 was a really great game. A friend of mine recommended Conker's Bad Fur Day but I never played it.

>Turok: Dino Hunter (German Shazbot Edition)
Parents don't giving a flying fuarrrk that I mow down androids instead of humans was actually great.
Was a cheating bitch tough, didn't knew how the fuarrrk the memory pack's supposed to work but it was pretty rad overall.
>Chameleon Twist
Liked the tongue platforming and licking things to catch and shoot things.
>Pokemon Stadium
Transfering your pokemon party to the big screen.
Also party games that even my dad wanted to give a shot. Snap is cool and all but Stadium is also.
then of course the obligatory zelda oot, smash and lastly the only mario's that matter: kart and super
also holy soykaf /inter/ is back, how long have I been gone?

A lot of people say this is the worst era of video games, thanks to the transitioning to 3d gaming, a lot of games for the n64, ps1 and saturn looked good at the time, but look ugly today. I don't really care though! I still love my n64.
As for the games:
SM64
Conker's Bad Furday
Jet Force Gemini
Doom 64
Majora's Mask

Starfox is a must.

It was great at the time but it doesn't hold up at all by today's standards

Mario 64, Zeldas, Harvest Moon 64, Rocket: Robot on Wheels, and I can't believe no one's mentioned Perfect Dark. Better than Goldeneye in every way (except the framerate goes to soykaf now and then).

My favorites:
Super Mario 64
Doom 64
Ocarina of Time
Turok 2
Jet Force Gemini
Star Fox 64
Paper Mario
Goldeneye
Perfect Dark
Kirby 64
And of course, Super Smash Bros.
By the way, it was not until recently that I noticed that one of the worlds in Kirby 64 was actually Earth during an ice age after humanity either escaped to other planets or got wiped out. Look closely at the image.

Oh and I almost forgot F-Zero X.
H.R. Giger · 2018-10-11 03:15
>Doom 64
See also Doom 64 EX, Doom 64 Retribution, and Brutal Doom 64. The N64 doesn't have a lot of third party games that have aged well, but Doom 64 is worth playing today.

Goldeneye is great already, but one of my favourite tihngs about it is the speedrunning community. Unlike most speed games, goldeneye's community is based almost entirely around single level runs. Also, where as these days most speedrunners use an external timing aplications, goldeneye still uses in game time. This is particularly interesting because the in game timer only has an accuracy of 1 second, so in order to get a new record you'd need to improve by at least a whole second over the previous best. This is very difficult since most levels which only take a minute or two to run.
Most speedrunners will play through an hour long game over and over, but goldeneye runners will spend months perfecting just one level, just to improve by a second. I find this level of dedication very impressive, if a little autistic, and would highly recomend you look into this community on youtube or twitch.

You should use Mupen64Plus.
I'm not saying there's anything wrong about P64, but some time ago they bundled malware on their installer, so you should be careful.

Bastard, that was my first thought when I saw this thread. Mischief Makers, Blast Corp, Wave Race, Super Mario 64.
