Does anyone here like fighting games? What do you play?
I mostly play SF2 on fightcade and some guilty gear.
Hagbard Celine · 2017-05-02 09:47

I love fighting games.
I usually play Street Fighter (Alpha 3 is my favorite), various Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct, BlazBlue, Guilty Gear, Bloody Roar and Melty Blood.
I once won a BB/GG tournament too, but I've only been playing casually for a couple of years.
I've been meaning to get into Tekken for a while too. I remember playing Tekken 3 a soykafload of years ago but I was never good at it.
Elliot Alderson · 2017-05-02 13:04
I'll watch a tournament if one's on Saltybets.
If I actually joined up I'm pretty sure I'd lose everything on loyalty bets on coin-op and Ponies.

Do you play a3 on fightcade? When I get my stick fixed maybe we can play? I play karin, sakura, adon, and rose. Which characters do you play?

I don't play on fightcade, actually this is the first time I've ever heard of it hahaha.
Also, sure, why not? You'll surely kick my ass tho, I've always played on my PS1 and I haven't touched the game in a very long time. But of course, no problem
Unknown · 2017-05-02 15:27
I was born a Tekken man, I'll die a Tekken man.
I'm praying Tekken 7 on PC works out, because I don't really play/own consoles anymore.

Just check this thread periodically. My stick is broken and I have to replace the PCB at the moment but I'm very physically sick and don't have the strength atm. Shouldn't be more than 5 days from now.
Fightcade is great and alpha3 gets a decent amount of players. You should definitely check it out.

it probably won't get many players compared to console

We had a Tekken 7 machine for like a month, and I think this rich Vietnamese kid had his parents buy it from the arcade -_-
My fav fighting games:
Capcom VS SNK 2000
Tekken 6
Blazblue CS
Godzilla Destroy All Monsters if that counts lol

Masami Eiri · 2017-05-03 11:13
The fighting game I want doesn't exist.
Buruki One and Bushido Blade came close.
I want realistic martial arts and ragdoll physics, but all I ever see are floating combos and DLC costume changes, and the same god damn movesets from the 90's.
Turner · 2017-05-03 22:50
I've played only a few fighting games but the ones I've played have always been fun. I've played Soul Caliber 2 and 5, Street Fighter 2-4, and my personal favorite being MvC2. Here's hoping MvC Infinite turns out well.

>Here's hoping MvC Infinite turns out well.
It won't. It's neo-capcom after all. They will fuarrrk it up.
Debbie Charteris · 2017-05-04 12:55

>capcom is one person
I hate this way of thinking. They can do both good and bad stuff just as any other person/company.
From what I've seen the only way they could ruin this is by making a soykaf ton of DLC and they already announced that.
Gameplay wise the game looks tight.
Elliot Alderson · 2017-05-04 20:44
Melee netplay, and occasionally Brawl. They're fun. Playing with items on or off is fine.
Some day I'll try SF.

Personally I would love to start playing fighting games more. However, there is absolutely no scene for it in my area. Soul Calibur, Smash Bros, Touhou 12.3 ~ Hisoutensoku and Guilty Gear are probably my four favorite fighting games though.
Marly Krushkhova · 2017-05-06 16:08
SF 3.3 , Garou MOTW and some Guilty, but my friends have either bad ping or aren't interested in fighting games.

How does netplay work? Can you play random people or is there some Id system you use to play others?
Rick Deckard · 2017-05-09 12:58
Been on the MK: Armageddon grind for a while now. I'm so glad to be using my ps2 again.

I don't mean to sound impertinent, and I mean this in the kindest way possible - smash isn't a fighting game. They're waaaay to incongruous to a fighting game with the platforming aspects and lack of things like digital stick inputs.
Jane Doe · 2017-05-17 06:36
>>165
It's a fighting game: characters fight. To say it's not a fighting game would be to lie.
Random · 2017-05-20 00:31
>>165
Note: I'm only speaking for SSBM (melee) here, I don't play the others enough to judge them.
I'm uncertain how having analog stick inputs can invalidate something as a fighting game.
The basis of player interaction is still fighting, the mental strategies in more traditional 2D fighters carry over easily enough, etc. etc.
The platforms add an extra layer of complexity, but not in a way that radically differentiates ssbm from other fighting games.

I really like Alpha 2, Third Strike, Heritage for the Future, and Mark of the Wolves. I picked up Tekken 7 when it came out and I hate myself for never giving Tekken a shot before. Unfortunately, my desktop is rather old and it can't really handle doing anything but treasure battle. I don't really play often, but I definitely would if fightcade had a native linux client.
Meddler · 2017-10-01 11:22

Do you have problems with Fightcade in Linux? It always worked well for me (and with all the games you mentioned minus Alpha 2 which I didn't test)
Lunch · 2017-10-01 20:30
Darkstalkers and Mortal Kombat.
Just another Random Lainon · 2017-10-03 07:06
Not really, but I love jog 'n jabs like Final Fight, Violent Storm and Undercover Cops.

Oh, you gotta play Zombie Smashers X 1 and 2.
ZSX 1&2 were River City Ransom clones with punks and skins fighting zombies and ninjas.
3 was more of a space trading sim with added pterodactyls.

Thanks, never heard of those before. I'll check them out.
Agent Smith · 2017-10-30 12:51
I'm a massive fuarrrking casual that is like kicking dead whales down the beach cocks, but I still love them. Every few weeks I invite my friends over for a GGRev2/Heritage for the Future/Sm4sh "tournament."
I've spent a little bit of time on the HftF fightcade, but I'm barely able to do a CQF, let alone a dragon punch or pretzel.
I really do need to just sit down and train for a bit, but I'm worried that I'll git just good enough to make playing with my friends not fun for anybody but not good enough to actually do well online or at IRL events.
Tequila · 2017-10-30 15:42
I play Melee, Smash 4, USF2, KOF98.
Jet Black · 2017-11-06 21:36
i play tekken 7
Just another Random Lainon · 2017-12-26 14:33
I play sf2 and 4. I wish I could enjoyably play 4 online but the connection is basically a joke
Mentat · 2018-02-09 03:39
I used to play a lot of street fighter, mainly the 4 and 3. But I also love darkstalkers and Garou.
Arisu Mizuki · 2018-04-30 12:54
Are games like Melty Blood still being played? I play that and under-night when I want to let off some steam.
John Titor · 2018-05-02 16:12
for me the only fighting game that's managed to captivate my curiosity was Immaterial and Missing Power, after which I almost instantly switched to Hisouetensoku. I used to not like the dynamics of fighting games, but playing soku intensively showed me just how complex fighters can be. All the wisdom on positioning, timing, mechanical skill and reading, and how a player has to combine all these into quick judgements for their decision making. I didn't branch out after that, soku is still my main fighter, though I did try to get into the newer Touhou floating figthers and EFZ
I also had interest for smash but the unwieldy controls and the fact of these games not intended for play on PC turned me off
