Neocron

Have you ever played this? It came out in 2001 and is to this date as far as i know the only Cyberpunk MMORPG. It is pretty dead now but you can still play it for Free. Both the original going by "Neocron Classic" and Neocron 2 (Neocron Evolution) It features a complex skill system with min maxing and implants. There is housing and a high anmount of Lore and Immersion. If you can look aside the dated graphics you will still find some enjoyment. But the learning curve is pretty rough.

I played the singel-player demo and had a lot of fun. I've mentioned the game here before, for its System Shock/Deus Ex feel and authentically horrid aesthetics. I think we could use it as a sort of Second Life with combat, if we wanted a nice dystopian place to meet, without all the hassle of being oppressed IRL. Is there a mod community?

>>479 No there is no mod community other than the devs that still try to keep this game alive. Unfortunatly there isn't so much customisation either in terms of Character looks a few decent options but when you get 20+ people on screen the models begin to repeat themselves. Other than that there is lots of cool places to hang out and RP with. I used to be in a "gang" back in the days selling drugs and extorting money was a daily business. People also used to play as cops and would bust us from time to time.

>>478 >as far as i know the only Cyberpunk MMORPG You could add The Matrix Online and Shin Megami Tensei Imagine too

Don't know if it counts as Cyberpunk, but I'd say Anarchy Online fits the bill. If you have good enough 'computer literacy' you can literally hack yourself to other places in the gameworld.
