The Fin · 2026-03-08 21:40
People have their fair reasons and I wouldn't say it's such an unusual way of thinking nor is it new.
Destruction vs Prosperity I think is the crux of it. I know it's hard to say but I'd rather live in delusion that the world will be better than live in delusion that the world will be worse. Why it's important to think about now, is because our technology is at a breaking point where it can be total collapse or near utopia. Historically we have improved greatly but historically we have never had this much destruction power.
Misanthropic people have a pessimistic outlook, they usually say that the bad outweighs the good.
Though, if we progress like we have always done then why hold the bad outlook? It is statistically the wrong outlook. :)

>What do you lainons think about misanthropy?
It's an example of 'overdosing on red pills' -- which is taking an unconventional, but legitimate philosophical or political position a step too far into illogical or stupid territory. In this case, it's a step beyond nihilist-humanism; that Kant was wrong, and that there is nothing in particular (beyond our egos) that makes human beings particularly special or in possession of particular worth, which in turn makes the concept of inherent human rights incorrect. This in and of itself is an unorthodox (to us) philosophical position, but is still a logical one. Where it becomes illogical is going from "humans do not have inherent worth" to "human beings are inherently bad" which leads into stupidity. Hatred of a class which includes oneself is equivalent to self-hatred, which is illogical, unnatural, and self-defeating. Many philosophical misanthropes also maintain a list of "exceptions" to the rule, which also undermines their supposed point on the inherent negativity of humanity by going as far as to show instances which they believe to be "positive human figures," and therefore showing their own rules aren't even hard ones, are inconsistently applied, that the speaker is unwilling to commit to their own philosophy, and therefore their position is not worth considering. It would be equivalent of taking the philosophical stance that "genocide is wrong." (what a controversial statement) and with ones' next breath giving an example of a genocide which the speaker believes is morally correct. So, is genocide right or wrong -- are human beings inherently negative or not?
What I'm not talking about is when people (read: teenagers) have soykafty experiences or are outcasts and cope/respond by lashing out at 'humanity' and saying stuff like, "Oh, I just hate all people." That isn't an actual philosophy and it's just indicative of immaturity.
unknown · 2026-03-09 16:45
Humanity is so rotten, people are so cruel and empty, I don't even know who I am anymore. I identify with things I never thought I would. Life and people are so complex, yet at the same time so empty and alike. People always take advantage of good people, women almost always take advantage of good men, and I was someone who was a victim of that. I think I will always have extreme hatred for humanity.

>if we progress like we have always done then why hold the bad outlook?
Crabs in a barrel. I've seen this strange behavior of individuals in despair and impending demise trying to pull others with them. And as tragic as it is for them, you try your best to free yourself of the arm reaching from the grave that's gotten a hold of you.
>>96978
True in a sense. Technology really is just the expansion of options and possibilities. A stick to pull ants from a hole so you can eat them is technology in comparison of only having your bare hands. The problem is that there is hardly a reason to stop pursuit of that, let alone to give up what we already have. While based and spicy mail pilled, I don't think everyone can just go and live in a shed in the woods.
Not to say that you do you and from the sound of it it's what would be best for all parties involved but for the rest, the real problem is that technology simply has advanced far faster than mankind has matured. CRISPR, aerosolizable pathogens, LLMs, psychological warfare, H-bombs, centralized industrial computation and soon biotech and possibly true AGI on the horizon, all while we're busy putting each other in chains, it's like handing a rifle loaded with armor breaking rounds to a toddler with downs.
We have not figured out yet how to deal with psychopaths in positions of power, yet we're approaching what once was considered the might and abilities of God.
Tesla was right when he spoke about man made horrors beyond our comprehension. But the problem isn't tech, it's us.

What does it matter if such a statement were self-defeating? There is no stake here.
Nor should it matter if it's unnatural. Humanity is far beyond simple unnaturalness by now, and just because something is unnatural, does not necessarily make it wrong, in the same way something being natural does not necessarily make it good.
Finally, illogical. Well, you'd have to be more specific on this really...
I don't subscribe to these beliefs mind you.
Lain Iwakura · 2026-03-10 06:12
>>96987
True, it does not matter if it's self defeating or its logic is contrived. If someone espouses a belief, no matter how well constructed, where their argument is simply against people living in general and totality then they are the enemy of humanity. In earlier times those kind would be exiled and relegated to live in the swamp. That is if they were lucky. Thus the misanthropes and other antisocial and hostile elements should be appreciative that modern civilization is this permissive towards them.

General health, easier access to gathering information, more educated. Death in war has gone down significantly in proportion to the human population (Though this is arguable because of world wars and also past wars not being 100% covered).
Yes, I am aware of the negative uses of technology that have been used to deprive humanity and humanity's unfortunate consumption of it.
Do I hate the human for being foolish? Do I hate the ill for having an uncontrollable mind? Do I hate the wolf for eating the sheep?
What is the point of hate? Do I receive anything good in return of hate? Was hate made in the same way that greed was - survival?
Hatred is extreme, dislike (in the context of the lack of liking) is normal and so is distrust (depends, you wouldn't trust a human with your newborn but you also wouldn't stay away from strangers in fear of being murdered by them)

...is poor. a culture where adverse mentalities and sedentary lifestyles are commonplace isn't particularly healthy in the first place. and on top of that all the other fads being pushed like non-meat superfoods or gyms, as people are also being degenerated by their environment full of exhaust gas, pollution and microplastics.
civilization has always been societies constructed by sickly masses from the beginning anyways, encouraged by their drug (read: grain) addiction. the standards of health have started low and have only sunk lower
also dysthanasia is not a good thing. i just wanted to say that, i could probably spin that to be related to the broader paragraph but i can't really think about that right now, smth about technology i guess
>easier access to gathering information
also a bad thing, especially considering where we are. it's never been harder to get the right information, or even useful info (mainly on stuff that matters, basic stuff sure), especially in this post-truth technological society.
plus, knowing too much can be terrifying, or it can just utterly disillusion you like it did me
>more educated
joke. modern education is more like domestication, dulling students with crap of little interest, and won't be useful to them as they are then. something that should be fun, which is learning, has been conditioned to be a sterile, stifling mindless and judgemental activity of memorization and rituals for a great number of people, as can be observed. the unknown is a humilating experience when it was supposed to be exciting, education is the second major chain man is shackled into (the first is family), and it's only the pipeline towards neo-slavery.
children used to educate themselves just by living in their natural environment. guess what sort of environment we aren't in
(to be more technologically on-topic, videos are a common lazy way """teachers""" try to engage students, and those still aren't particularly engaging. e-books are useful but people don't like to read)
>Death in war has gone down significantly
the fact is that you still have wars, and operate under a system that constantly needs wars in order to not collapse upon itself, at least not as fast anyways
i don't deliberately try to be like this, i literally just cannot see eye to eye with the vast majority of people nowadays thanks to what i've found out through reading and being so open (and only partically what i've experienced in a short life) it's definitely not hate, but most definitely distrust i feel for them, and i wouldn't want to force this upon someone else at all (yes, this is also >>96994 )

>...that's the excuse for people who DO breed, when they talk about delusional bullshit such as "genetic immortality"
Again, you're just being completely self centered. Maybe that's why you're this miserable in the first place? Because if all you think about is what you can get out of it on a solely individual basis and then you don't even get what you want because nobody likes to share with you for that reason, it'd explain why you're being such a sourpuss online, and have to get mad at people continuing their legacy.

>you're just being completely self centered.
selfishness is in everyone, so i don't get why this is a bad thing or how you think this innately makes one miserable. i, however, like to be selfish, usually just not at the cost of somebody else like what most people do when they breed...
also you didn't refute the delusion accusations so this:

this is still bullshit LOL. you don't continue your legacy through what is literally an entirely new and separate person

Consider me successfully baited then. I just wonder why you think writing in such a stereotypical and irritating way will evoke any different type of interactions. I don't bother being around other people much either but if people react frequently to you in what you consider typical, have you considered that a commonality in this might be you?
>selfishness is in everyone
Sure, and it's even a good thing like when those oxygen masks drop in a plane. It's like saying sure people need water but you act as if you were a fish. The misery in selfishness doesn't come from thinking of your own interests. Like stated, you even should consider them all the time. The problem stems from not considering anything else outside of you and basing the importance of something exclusively how it serves you personally. The misery comes from other people recognizing that in you, realizing there can not be any mutual exchange and thus avoid, reject or shun you. This appears to be a common source for feelings of misanthropy and hatred towards the world at large. Do you understand the difference?
>continuing their legacy.
>this is still bullshit LOL.
Granted this is a tricky one to explain since it requires a world view that you don't seem to posses or are even receptive to. But have you ever tried to look at live from a more distant vantage point where you're just a part in a greater chain of things rather than thinking yourself as the center of the universe?
>what a way to treat a "legacy", huh?
I agree, what's done to children today borders on the satanic. I have hope that this isn't a permanent installation of our civilization. But it is a coin toss if we manage to pull ourselves out of this behavioral sink. While the problem with this misanthropic defeatism is that it makes failure certain. Even if you go out and bomb another fertility clinic or whatever, I believe these kinds of efforts will only close off the good path and make the boot on our heads forever inevitable. Lab made guy cattle to serve their inbred masters or be disposed of, like in Brave New World which is currently taken as a manual.
The path to transcend that is unlikely through wanting life to cease. Because life will find a way by taking whatever shape it has to. Instead trying to direct it somewhere better seems like the better approach.

i sometimes help with random payless tasks because first and foremost, i'm usually bored! and i hope i'll personally get something out of it
>The misery comes from other people recognizing that in you
i dunno how this isn't really clear to you, but i couldn't care less about most other people, especially strangers. the less you care about other people and their thoughts, the better, as you can live more as an individual than a cog. occasionally there will be the one intriguing individual to associate with, but it obviously doesn't excuse everybody else
...also this is another broad assumption about misanthropes. assumptions make an ass out of 'u' and 'me' or whatever.
>it requires a world view that you don't seem to possess or are even receptive to.

>While the problem with this misanthropic defeatism is that it makes failure certain.
failure isn't a bad thing when you take a look at what "success" has done for the world. i'll fail successfully and leave nothing behind in this divine comedy where people are under a delusion that there is a broader goal for humanity aside from eating and dying. all which we do on top of this is just sublimation to help us not think about the latter
>this isn't a permanent installation of our civilization.
it is, and it's only hoping to "succeed" even more thanks to the idiots who exalt and uphold it, along with its other heads which only serve to expand its "success".
also, don't use "our", i can tell what pair of shackles you have from using that word alone, collectivist.

life will definitely find a way, at the expense of the one living.

Do you wonder sometimes how billions of years of life and struggle has led us to this point where we can bicker about the purposefulness and utility of life from the comfort of our homes? And how there might be more to it than just the evident material part of it that we can witness from just our life span?
And I fully expect to get a response about how you don't care, that it's been a waste no matter how many generations came befoe us and how generally above it all you are while you toil away the little time we've been granted. You might also say that really this basic sort of entropy of feeding and soykafting is all there is. But yet, do you wonder?
>c..c..collectivist!
There are plenty halve steps between your brand of narrow minded egoism and being a mindless cog in a hive. And no matter your stance or how you look at it, if you're intellectually honest, it's hard to deny that we're each a tiny cycle of a much greater process, whatever that might mean to you. Some play on words won't change that fact.
Either way, if you're just minding your own business I actually have no quarrels with you. But if someone actively works on sabotaging humanity's chances to improve itself beyond the issues we're facing today, it usually stems from some sort of personal resentment and it's crucial for the smart and purposeful people to safe guard themselves from the harm that comes from this sort of "last man" no matter what intellectual prowess they pretend to posses.

>yes human beings are terrible but they are also beautiful. "but lainon thats a contradiction!!" exactly
This isn't contradictory. The ancient philosophers recognized the inherent duality of life and of the balance of pleasure and pain; we do not, obviously, experience pain and pleasure in equal volume, but pleasure makes those painful moments worth enduring, and pain makes those pleasurable moments shine all the brighter. Without the context of pain, there is no recognition of pleasure. Without suffering, life ceases to have meaning. Without joy, life ceases to have purpose. We get - and indeed, need - both throughout our lives. Incidentally, this dichotomy is why I feel classical utilitarianism is conceptually flawed on the macro (societal) scale and can only really apply to individual ethical dilemmas where the right thing to do is not immediately apparent - and even then I feel "do as little harm as is possible." rather than the Benthamite philosophy of "maximizing pleasure" which is a stupid way to live to begin with, because, as said, life is not just about shooting heroin 24/7 despite this being a mathematical means of maximizing individual pleasure.
Besides, even the dullest of us can hazard the fact that absolutes are absolutely incorrect. Nothing is ever 100% bad, and this includes humanity.

I hate misanthropes, but I hate misanthropes who call humans "greedy" and animals "innocent" even more. If your love for animals is so vast, perhaps our species should ostracize you, take away any manmade devices you own such as electronics and clothes you haven't sewn yourself, and send you to a jungle or the African savanna to fend for youself. I assume your mental and physical health will improve, as you will be far away from all those humans that drain you, and you'll witness firsthand the tigers', bears', wolves' or wild cats' "innocence" as they swallow you alive, decapitate you and rape you.

Frankly I don't even remember which posts were mine but while I might have initially replied rude and in jest, I was still addressing you as a person. Now while more polite and precise, I consider this conversation as with someone, or rather something that is more of a harmful entity. Like someone no longer human. And examining it to figure out its pathology and how to best expel it from our (mine) species.
>the one thing i hate as much as brain rotted optimists is dishonesty
And you seem to be a terrible judge of honesty. The truth is it's always your personal choice whether you're an optimist or pessimist.
And while reality is a harsh mistress, being self indulgent in your own sense of displeasure, from which its own twisted form of pleasure can be derived when trying to push it onto others, is pathetic.
>did you read the part afterwards?
Yes and I wasn't impressed by that either.
>we're just animals devastated by an advanced psychological awareness of the world to think that we're part of a greater process
The first part is actually true. But what makes you think that animals, and even microbes, aren't part of an overarching grander process of life either?
>considering you said the word 'satanic' earlier
I know what you're trying to do here but no, I'm not particularly religious myself. But some things, describing them as satanic just seems the most apt. Besides, my experience tells me that if you don't manage kill yourself it's you who will probably end up converting to a new born bible thumper eventually. It's just how this goes it seems.
>who suffer the most from this advanced awareness and are usually pushed to instability?
I wasn't considering you as one of the truly smart people since they usually figure out how to not get crushed by their own melancholy and personal dissatisfaction with the world. Not that they don't have these feelings and understanding, but that they can handle it.

A "hate crime" is simply something you're not supposed to voice your aversion or concern about. It's a fake and silly concept. A spook.
But now I wonder, is there a term for specifically hating misanthropes? Because people who enjoy life and love others tend to be cool and chill and the opposite of what misanthropes like to complain about. "hating everyone" just sounds like such a cop-out.

>Nothing is ever 100% bad
but the problem is that too much things are. and unfortunately, pleasure is a lot more fleeting than pain is, and pain is a lot more prevailing than you realize, as unlike pleasure, it can genuinely cripple you and your functioning as a person.
the next hurdle to cross is to realize that there is no innate duality or balance when it comes to this
BloodCat · 2026-03-27 02:07
>>97260
i beleive pleasure can also cripple a person. If a person does not engage pain, and indulges in pleasures only, soon his mind will collapse and his pleasure slowly turns into a pain bigger than any pain he wanted to avoid before, and also one which he cannot avoid at all because it's caused by pleasure. Therefore being a functioning human requires a balance between pleasure and pain and the way to function better is to psychologically reframe pain, and to make the distinction between pain and suffering because pain does not neccessarily cause suffering.
Crazy Jake · 2026-03-27 07:34
>>97262
so, basically what i was saying about pleasure being fleeting. in fact, i should rephrase that: people become desensitized to pleasure over time to a point where the source of pleasure becomes habitual due to constant reinforcement. however, the pain is still as real as ever.
i don't think this means pleasure is crippling, the pain is still a result from the pain
also suffering indicates an emotional response to pain, which is generally what happens when you get hurt, no matter how small. pain may not cause persistent or notable suffering, sure.
i'm not sure we're going to get anywhere with this line of dialogue in truth though, i only wanted to reply because i realized i walked into myself in that last post because i only realized i did the pathetic thing of casually using a dehumanizing term for modern people, oops~. being less than human would be pretty cool actually, rather than deal with how unreal human life is to the point of creating delusions...

>i don't think people would consciously choose to be a pessimist
Of course there's limits to what you can influence. Like if you're bound to a wheel chair, there's little you can do but one thing you can always chose is how you perceive that situation and how you look at things. I wonder how many good things you've going for yourself yet you chose to not recognize them and instead go and whine on an anonymous image board and making yourself more depressed than some people who're missing all their limbs. And while I have all of mine and am very grateful for that, I too have my personal misfortunes and frustration with people, yet I'm still arguing against your rather pointless and defeatist mindset.
>you do realize optimism bias is a real unconscious process?
Only if you have a weak and defeated mind. Like I've said I didn't have the most happy life. I'm not one of these people who have had everything handed to them and don't understand what rock bottom is, bumbling around and telling others to "smile more". In fact it's usually the privileged people who tend to be like OP. Instead I force myself to look for the silver lining in everything, reflect on myself and what matters, be grateful what I do have, and probably so should you.
>i recognize yours, i just don't understand it
Your "recognition" is worth little if you don't understand. I do understand yours, the pain of having to accept an unjust world, where pain and death appears to be reserved for those who least deserve it, and those who cause it seemingly getting away with everything. It makes your kind of world views enticing, possibly as some sort of subconscious act of revenge. But that too is stupid. I see how "misanthropy" may appear as the only supposedly "logical choice" but if nothing really matters then how does your view matter? Picrel is you vs me. I know you feel to be particularly enlightened and profound with your stated "revelations" however you're just being dumb and silly.
>please explain to me what you're doing in return
I'm here to warn others to not fall into the same mental pitfall as you. While I have little hope for you, I don't want you to drag others into your misery, and lure people who're down on their luck to also form their identity around this "ideology". It's a mental trap and you don't see it. Or you do and are just misery who seeks company. It's an intoxicating mindset in many meanings of that word.
While I too am avoidant and mistrustful of most people, I'm not making silly pantone flags and tying my identity to my emotions and depression or getting myself stuck in a sense of helplessness and victimhood mentality.
>i waited two weeks for your smug cofagrigus ass reply.
Lmao if that's all you did no wonder you're this miserable. Time flies if you've actually got something to do, and this also makes you appreciate the little time that we've been granted in this world.
Also you mistake smugness with upfrontness. I know nobody likes being told that they're being stupid but what I'm saying could actually help you if only you could put your ego aside for a minute.
>cofagrigus
Are you by any chance autistic? This is not meant as a jab, I understand your predicament and the trouble you must have with n*rmies and emotional people. But do develop a deeper theory of mind. Try to see what other people would want or think when interacting with you. Try to put yourself into their shoes and maybe you wouldn't "hate all of humanity". So far the interaction with you didn't evoke a sense in me that I would be thrilled being around you.
>dehumanization is a weapon
True, it can be. Just like accusing others of "dehumanization". But tell me what does it matter to you if you hate all of humanity? And where would dehumanization be more applicable than against those who're against humanity? If anything, you've dehumanized yourself here. While chances are high you're eventually going to try to restore your own humanity by finding Jesus or something, at the moment you act more like a cancer cell which was once a normal cell but now acts in a way that's harmful to the body.
>more dishonesty about the definition established in the op (general hatred).
Then what is it that your little "ideology" or hatred gives you? Are you putting cyanide into the municipal water supply or are you just malding in a corner? im not reading this whole convo and im also very anti misanthropy but good post and the minute i saw this thread i knew there would be some hyper reactive freak who in some crusade against misanthropy would reveal that what they think is moral praxis is just reacting to imaginary people and ideas they have only seen online with such regularity that they no longer fight misanthropy but get misanthropic over basically nothing. its like a sort of worse but also more impotent version of an old lady calling the cops because she sees some kids skateboarding in an empty parking lot.
trying to "fight" misanthropy is a lead by example battle it isnt a political party or specific theory to debate and there is no imaginary audience that makes wasting your breath "owning the misanthropes" actually secretly productive instead of masturbatory. its entirely about whether you yourself or in this case me and myself want to reflect on the ways we might be a bit misanthropic and try 2 be better. its like trying to fight laziness with epic debates and words you just are gonna end up yelling at someone who happened to be taking a break on the couch when you arrived.

i believe that human life (and all life in general) is deeply and inexorably interconnected and that your sense of being a discrete self separate from the world and other human beings is an illusion that arises as a result of your limited perception of reality. therefore, you cannot hate other human beings without also hating yourself, and you cannot love other human beings without also loving yourself.

I am a misanthrope and the reason is simple. I can imagine a human civilization that is as close to Utopian as possible.
I can imagine a society where our technology is far more nature friendly than what we have now (think solar punk but realistic).
I can imagine a society where a limited government uses the shared resources for scientific development rather than psychotic over spending on on the military.
I can imagine a society where violent criminals are NOT allowed back into society and non violent criminals are punished in a minor way befitting their so called crime.
I can imagine a society where people mind their own god damn business when it comes to sex and those who can't seem to grasp that concept are fuarrrking deported.
I can imagine a society that is vegan and animal violence is treated no differently than human violence, not just legally but socially.
I can imagine a society where misogyny is also just met with deportation (genuinely we just don't need those vermin in the world anywhere.)
I can imagine a society where people are free to express themselves as they wish without some neanderthal with a second grade reading comprehension level going on about how "men don't act that way".
I can imagine this society and the only way to accomplish it would be to get rid of all the christians, muslims, jews, hindus and if we cut the bullshit just the vast majority of men in general. Knowing how many people would need to be removed from society in order to fix it is what makes me a misanthrope.
Meddler · 2026-04-11 22:15
I used to be a misanthrope but it was because I hated myself and wanted to be dead. Then when I was 19 I discovered the queer leftist community on Tumblr and started making friends there and I met a cute fat queer punk girl and we fell in love and I left my abusive home and travelled across America to move in with her and she showed me what it means to be loved by another human being and she and her leftist friends taught me about mental health and feminism and queer stuff and other leftist politics and I learned that it's okay to be a fat queer autistic weirdo and started going to therapy and working through past traumas and eventually didn't hate myself or want to die anymore and didn't hate other people anymore.

Military spending is 1/8th of the federal budget, not including state and local ones in the country with the biggest army. It's rarely above 2% of the GDP.
If judges are not accountable, they will do as they please. If they are, the powers are not separated.

Speak for yourself, I don't know any trannies who actually regret transitioning though I do know ones who experience self doubt or increased bullying because of it. It comes to mind that of the 1% who detransition, most do it for rare health conditions and the largest fraction after that due to social pressure. I would argue the social pressure bleeds into health reasons precisely because pressure from care providers can force people to detrans - I know plenty of trannies who have had their transitions delayed or otherwise interfered with because of transphobia from care providers.
I think this is because I mostly know mtfs though. ftms tend to detransition more but the desistence/regret rate is highest among nonbinaries, which is ironic because the highest proportion of people I know who went from trans one thing to another now identify as nonbinary. The only trans woman I know, who you might be referring to as well, that detransitioned and began identifying as a boy never actually stopped taking hormones or changing her presentation (she dressed like a millennial hipster who sometimes wore more elaborately girly things for clubs and still does this, although she has been going for a more indie sleeze glitterboy thing lately), she just started referring to herself as a boy or a femboy to curry favor among the right-wing types in her art collective. There is another, more popular, trans woman who more or less did the exact same thing.
This subject is clearly offensive to you guys however, so I'm sorry for bringing it up. My point stands: elaborating on your hatred towards trannies doesn't convince me or anyone else that you aren't yourself miserable and aren't just projecting your misery onto people around you or seeking out new miserable people to be miserable with. I'm not demanding you cut off people who are being sad in a toxic positivity sense, I'm just pointing that out.

The only conflict I experience is whether I should dedicate my rituals to pagan gods, or Satan Himself as the closest thing to the true nature of Being.
You accuse me of creating a fantasy out of the people I talk to on imageboards and yet are clearly embroiled in fantasies of your own, with generalizations about me in the form of
>Making a pathology
As if pathology is something I take seriously, or if you don't makevevident fantasies about other groups on a categorical basis.
Because, you're assuming that simple, material pleasures are causing people to suffer in the exact same way you see me as assuming your abrasiveness is indicative of your *own* suffering. This may be my social circle, but of the MTFs (Im referring to people who as far as I can tell fully socially transitioned, and were at least on hormones if they didn't do other medical transition procedures et cetera) I've interacted with extensively (knew irl socially for multiple years), half of those have detransitioned. The others don't seem like happy people but maybe they weren't happy before either. I stand by my point: there's a lot of fuarrrking miserable tranners out there, and they love their cope. I just cannot live like that, I need authentic engagement at more than a basic animalistic level, which is what a lot of it boils down to.
And yeah though, you were making a pathology out of what I have put forth. If you don't take it seriously, that is good, but you should break the habit entirely.

>Where yours come from
Some pubmeds I found on /lgbt/ iirc. Don't have them saved but cursorily:
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10794437/ discusses the tendencies of detrans / desisters but has a pretty small sample size to do serious analysis on, it would take a population of 1000 to make more in depth claims if my stats memory serves me correct. But it basically shows the tendency among detrans/desist to be ftmtf lesbians primarily, which is imo part of the problem when it comes to representation because these narratives, such as ROGD, are pretty much based on the internalized lesbophobia of afabs.
https://academic.oup.com/jcem/article/107/10/e4261/6604653?login=false
Is an in-depth meta analysis that captures a number of important details: the increase in detransition / regret rates among all populations, yet also the primary regret reason being difficulty to access meds. The sample being attached to military families seems relevant as I wouldn't be surprised if this population had a higher dt/regret rate than the mean due to ideological factors. Of course we see again the much higher rate of detrans among afabs. Yet in another study assessed by the analysis, DT rates were actually higher among mtfs but with significant parts of the DT population showing a few things: most detransitions are temporary and pluralities occur as a result of or attached to social pressure. This study, being the largest US-based one puts the detrans rate below 10% overall but I would say it's interesting because it shows a reversal of the observation about male versus female detransition.
So thanks anyways for asking me to cite, because the second study has pretty much all of the info I'm looking for and says things that both of us would agree with.

My point is just that they love something. There is a lot more value to be found in steam game, ketamine and polycule than we give credit for even if it's not our poison of choice. I can't speak for you but you can probably guess mine is maths and esoteric philosophy. The difference is that I don't think this makes me better than others, if anything I recognize how alienating it is but I don't like how that gets to one's head.

You know... you're right. I find it literally poison :)

I try not to, but I do sometimes. Working on it.

I will offer this: I am projecting other things perhaps. I am working on that fact since I am *unsatisfied* with my present status quo.
>I think I was being literal by thinking of diagnoses like "BPD" which gets thrown around too much these days.
Honestly... fair enough. I should try to think of a better way to approach the phrasing to avoid that misunderstanding.
Either way, seems like you are trending in the right direction. I hope you will see that being a misanthrope isn't so black & white (mostly black). I find joy outside of humanity, and in that I take refuge because people just ain't it for me.

There's more to the story actually. Before I met the girlfriend and left home I had a handful of misanthropic irony poisoned friends and we all did drugs all the time and talked soykaf to each other and about each other and about everyone and everything else around us, engaged in a lot of toxic masculine kind of behavior and kind of embraced nihilism and trying really hard to be as offensive and un-PC as possible to make each other laugh, things like that. Online I hung out in places like imageboards and IRC channels full of trolls and some of the people I talked to on IRC were like hardcore criminals and they were older than me and I was a young impressionable teenager and kind of looked up to them and thought they were cool and initially they mocked me or kickderezzed me out of the channels for being the typical annoying teenage scriptkiddie but over time I kind of earned their respect and they kind of started grooming me into one of them. Looking back most of them obviously had serious mental illnesses like schizophrenia and soykaf like that, I remember a few of them killed themselves, some of them went to prison, etc. Many years after I met the girl and went through my whole transitional period I went back to my hometown and met up with some of my old friends, they were all on heroin and hadn't changed at all and they wanted me to shoot heroin with them but I didn't want to so I just kind of cut them off. It was weird being around them and being reminded of the person I was before and I felt really bad for them but I knew there was nothing I could do to change anything. I feel the same way when I go to imageboards and see the people here. It's like everything people say I can read right between the lines and know what is really going on behind the persona. I don't know why I do it really, I guess just curiosity or maybe nostalgia.

Sigh, maybe I should've kept it to meme posts but this this just irked me too much at the time I felt the need to respond, even if I usually don't like to get out of my jokester shell.
Any yes, maybe I mistook >>97285 as one of these crazy malthusian types who like to actively make things worse for everyone else. And maybe being tired of being ruled over by people who want to pull me into their collective suicide fueled my irritation. Seeing this thread again I now see they might've been just another depressed soul, caught in the gears of something.
But the fact remains, you shape your own perception. But that comes with the fear of being responsible for yourself and your future actions. It's why it requires courage to carry on and keep pushing, even in the face of adversity or a world that seemingly makes no sense at all. Grasping for any form of identity, be it silly labels like misanthropy, or pragmatist, utilitarianist, pessimist and so on, it's only a pacifier of sorts, and sure seems better than nothing at all in the moment. With no other constructive meaning around, this only seems rational. And our society and structures have rotten and stopped providing those. With too many having become too comfortable and self serving, no wonder.
But even that might be for the better in a way since it forces us now, more than ever to re-evaluate our individual and collective place in the world, without having that argument being weighted down my someone else's private interests masqueraded as a fancy tale of honor or whatever.
It's not easy, but to struggle is to live, not just vice versa.
It's difficult to grow when things are easy, and I believe you can change more for the better than you think.

At this point I believe it's just a sick joke. Kids being promised the grass being greener on the other end who're really just being lost with their lot in life.

> hope you will see that being a misanthrope isn't so black & white (mostly black). I find joy outside of humanity, and in that I take refuge because people just ain't it for me.
I still wonder what exactly you and others get out of it (probably more of a semantic and definitional question more than anything) but I still clearly remember the portion of my life where I was angry at the world and severely depressed for so long that I even stopped noticing that I was. It was an aimless time where I would put on a mask just to barely drift through life and cover my base necessities.
And while I cultivate my own sense of melancholia which is difficult to put in words and my distance to others hasn't really subsided since, but some true isolation for a prolonged time leaves plenty of space for thought. And something that might even be crucial when drugs and entertainment stop having the same effect as they used to, and you begin to wonder if there's perhaps more to life than numbing oneself, you know?

>You managed to grow out of it, good job! Many don't as evident from your story.
Thanks. I still really don't know how or why it happened that way for me and not the others, I guess part of it was luck meeting the right people at the right time and part of it was just being really tired. I was tired of being a fraud and pretending all the time and lying to myself and tired of being angry and hating people and hating myself, tired of the constant neverending need for outside stimulation to drown out my repressed feelings be it drugs or hurting people or hurting myself or whatever. It's exhausting to live that way. I don't know how other people keep doing it for so long.
I don't want to give the impression that it's a happy fairytale ending though and I'm all better now. I still have a lot of problems and life is still a struggle and I have a lot of things I've done that I have to live in contrition for, you can never undo your past it will always be part of you. But I'm definitely a lot happier now than I was then and I'm glad I stopped being that way before it got any worse.
I also don't want to give the impression that this kind of change can happen for everyone, I think some people dig themselves down so deep they can never get out. Things get so fuarrrked up that they either can't live with themselves and they suicide or they completely break from reality and their sense of self and become psychopaths and absolutely nothing can get through to them again.

>I take responsibility for my own happiness by making sure to laugh at choads like you often
If you depend on other people's reactions for your happiness then you're not taking responsibility for your own happiness, you're relying on external validation for your happiness. And statistically speaking, it is unlikely that you will ever find an inexhaustible enough source of external validation to fill your need forever as you gradually become more and more desensitized and need bigger and bigger kicks because you're probably not ever going to be an Elon Musk billionaire who can buy all the external validation you could ever need to fill the hole inside you.

Comparing your need for external validation to something you literally need to consume constantly to stay alive isn't helping your case any. Like you would shrivel up and die if you're not having a big explosive confrontation with someone every day. Find a psychiatrist.

do you know what "external validation" is? you are complaining to/about people who have their own internal world. using people as playthings is not validation. but you expect everybody here to validate YOUR view, but you are becoming more antagonistic and angry as you keep finding people just laugh and mock you. you repeat and yell and stomp your little feet... but they just laugh harder. you deny yourself, but you just keep becoming what you say they are.

>free entertainment.
Nothing is free. It's costing you time and mental effort to do this, that's the initial up-front costs, and then on top of that there are long-term costs that you will not become aware of until much further down the line, memories of all these interactions that will stick with you for years or even decades from now and you will be force to reckon with them in whatever state of mind you happen to be in at that point. By then every trace of them will probably be gone from the internet but they will all still be in your long term memory, lurking in the subconscious somewhere and just waiting to be recalled back to the surface again by some triggering event. This is not to say that you will eventually feel remorseful about it, you might feel good or you might feel bad or you might feel nothing at all, but it will still be there, permanently imprinted into your brain like everything else you have ever said or done in your life. And this is just sheer conjecture on my part, but I imagine that this particular interaction will be one that you tend to remember a lot more clearly than most of the others because I doubt that very many of your attempts at trolling have ever led to an interaction quite like this.

I'm starting to suspect this is actually some kind of elaborate unconscious cry for help. Healthy people typically don't have suicide on their mind that much, whether it's thoughts about other people doing it or themselves. If that is the case, I'm sorry to have to tell you that nobody here has the capacity to help you, as I said before this is something you have to work through by yourself and you can't fix it with outside validation.

I think it's because they a lot more connected to reality than people in wealthier countries, they're not spending so much of their time isolated indoors staring at screens scrolling social media or playing video games or watching porn or whatever, they don't have all these distractions and luxuries that we have, when they're not working they're spending time with their families and friends, being outdoors, having parties and cookouts, playing soccer, going fishing, participating in life rather than trying to escape from it.
