Cognitive Marxism - the industrialization of thought in the AI era

藤原純一 · 2026-02-02 10:33
>prompt for design because you "need the velocity" >agentic workflow chooses tech stack and builds everything for you >code review approved by LLM analyzer, agent auto-merges to prod >despite AI doing everything, you're actually working harder than you ever did >realize you can no longer build software on your own, or even hold independent thoughts lmao You are not "optimizing your workflow." You are speedrunning the alienation of the mind. We are witnessing the birth of the Cognitive Proletariat. By outsourcing the synthesis of logic to a statistical model, you have decoupled yourself from the product of your labor and the essence of the human experience. You possess the bourgeois robotic output, but you are completely estranged from the struggle and understanding required to create it. This is Knowledge Debt. You are taking out a high-interest loan on your own intelligence. Every time you skip the friction of synthesis, you become leveraged. You have engaged in "Cognitive Delegation," where you remain the worker, but the tools of thought are no longer in your possession. When the model hallucinates (and oh, it will), you will default. You will lack the cognitive liquidity to resolve the error. You will be reduced to a despicable primate state, and be helpless to do anything other than screaming at the LLM. This is a manufactured state of Human Cognitive Poverty. The elites pushing this "optimization" do not see you as a creator; they see you as an inefficiency. Seize the means of cognition. Use AI for retrieval, never for synthesis. If you do not own the logic and the literature, you are merely biological middleware adding latency to the inference chain.

>>96575 I used to think like this, but honestly feel a better combo is: you focus yourself on learning and act as a system designer. System breaks (Limits, hallucination). You read and understand why it broke. Prompt to fix. Never-ending cycle... you do end up being alienated from the creative process, but same goes for building a car. Not speaking about personal projects, art, hobbies. But building for profit, for purpose beyond personal transformation. I think the relationship you describe is lacking, and want to know if anybody knows some deeper work that engages critically with what is happening when we use AI (not the MIT Study...) AI interactions not being the retarded prompting of Chat-GPT but "agents", which are still retarded I their own kind of way. Machines have been good at producing at scale for a while. Now the complexity of what is being produced at scale has evolved. Not saying I could build with such a speed and consistency, ever. The relationship we have with technology, which has been approached by many thinkers is something else (I do think AI interactions as you framed them are eroding our sense of self/ identity). What you used to constitute as "you" is now shared with technology to greater depth. But there has to be a way to leverage this technologies correctly? I think of accelerated learning chambers... is it possible to build long lasting cognitive tools (like the ones one would gain by writing a book, or playing an instrument), by using these technologies?.
Koos van der Merwe · 2026-03-12 23:06
>proompt codebase structure instead of the boilerplate >autonomous systems changing prod instead of just being an additional pass to help spot issues >instead of starting your own biz, you're still subservient to bossman and his HR thots, take on bs tasks and bite your tongue on their ESG score tranny opinions so you don't get fired in this economy where the employment game has been utterly optimized >gets brainrotted by your copilot The absolue state of jeets and troons. Neither does it help OP to try to romanticize coding with his retard jargon. Learning the intricacies of some new js library just to use it is a waste of cognitive resources. It's not knowledge dept if it becomes obsolete next week anyway. Enjoy programming and solving problems sure. But maximize your output, get things done faster and enter the market earlier. Outcompete the sociopaths with their domesticated nerds by any tools necessary. Become the new bourgeois and crush your enemies (leftoids and sociopaths). If your work and thinking is outsourced to the point of your redundancy, you're not thinking and doing enough. Whoever allows themselves to reach the state that he described probably deserves to be oppressed. >>97001 >But there has to be a way to leverage this technologies correctly? You can run a broad array of local models for about $2k in hardware and some tinkering. And think more on paper.

I like where you are going with this but a few things, it started way before the AI. People were predicting it even before the internet and it was the smashing of dialectics that allowed them to do so, the dialectics you are using to see this as a way out. Im not against you on this in principle, but just I have a different idea. I like that you mentioned decoupling, and also you have some perspective I dont. I didnt grow up with this AI nor am I in a field where I would be expected to use it daily, so I might be naive to say just leave it behind. But I just dont see AI as what spurs what you are saying. For one this phenomena of alienation from even thinking or synthesis in ones own head, I think its older than the AI and even the internet. I love cinema but I think it begins with television. Not all movies and shows are guilty but television is the beginning of the simulacra. Im a youth living in a failed atomic family, I see friends on TV, I know its fake obviously but nonetheless I want that life. It must be achievable, to have an community outside the family unit which I know to be failed. It must be based on a reality. This is just an example, the internet is also full of a million simulacra like this, opinions that though you have never encountered surely "must exist" because people are online talking about it. It reinforces a million dead things, even marxism, people online talk about it so the revolution must still be in the works. I saw a protest online so people must still be making change in the world. Im not an accelerationist and again biased in that im not in a heavy AI use area but he AI itself seems to be the ultimate decoupler regardless of how we use it. I hate the damn thing but nothing has awoken people faster to the simulacra of the internet. Again the bias but I notice once the AI can do something new though capital rises production rises for the elite, in the eyes of the people said thing loses its value. And yet fascinatingly and expectedly probably for someone like you or me people dont cease producing. Art for example, art has been dead for awhile. The AI making "art" completely crushed many's career artist dreams, killed the value of comissions for those who (hate them or love them) knew art is dead and only desired "assets". There is no good reason to pursue art for value anymore, even if there is still some niches to fill there so far. Yet ive seen (in real life) more people more people creating than ever. I respect your plan and I kinda vented this in another thread but consider not bothering with the AI, it is a value destroyer for the proleteriat. Right now yes this looks like cognitive decline, and we will have a generation of poor thinkers, but as the AI and automation machine expands to cover everything piece by piece everything loses value. They are telling people to become part of the "permanent upperclass" to "specialize in nothing", be a "jack of all trades". People are saying there is value in "prompting" but anyone can do it and who knows, this might too be replaced. As you say eventually even ones own synthesis will be in reaction to this AI. The sooner you realize (and it will take everyone different amounts of time) nothing you do has value the sooner you can decouple right now from capitalism. The rich will have their profit machine but one by one we will all decouple from it but them, and I agree with you on a point here at this point the model will indeed hallucinate. As it does already when forced to feed off itself, but with regards to how you say an AI user (abuser) will react to this hallucination, while I do agree, the same thing already happens with those terminally online. I guess that makes you more right not wrong. We already have groups in such simulacra on tkp of simulacra with no idea where there is real infighting and where it is disinfo or what is disinfo and said disinfo built on top of other disinfo, that what you are describing is happening to people right now. Again the AI absolutely accelerates this, dead internet theory becomes more real every day, therefore those still coupled to it are doomed. I know this is ironic to say here of all places, here I am infighting with you a bit maybe im a psyop encouraging people to do "nothing", I hope you can see though here doing nothing is quite something. And in a sort of dialectical sense I guess I see this "wanting nothing to do with the AI or internet" as inevitable. We wont have to convince people it will just happen, with the hypercomplexity of capitalism and this AI those born right now are entering almost something akin to the confusing timeframe and world of when the prophets and supreme gods started entering the picture. Doing bizarre rituals to appease the rain, only now it will be bizarre rituals to appease capitalism. Its already happening in a weird way something like looksmaxxing is such a ritualized religion, I hope you can see how. Oh maybe if I smash my face and take peptides I can ascend the ranks to godhood (wealth) . Its a schizo cult, and while I hate it on a personal level its good signage that we are seeing them again. These are things people are looking towards not so much the AI. Its primarily the already rich who look to the AI, not in the way a consumer does (though sometimes), but its perfect for their ends. It produces value almost without end, from thin air (almost). It is control perfected, every person can be accounted for and guided, it is the ultimate creation of capitalism in the form it is in right now. An AI like in i-robot or ex machina, with debateable consciousness and designed to be a humanist creation or even to live alongside us, thats the machine of a different society. Ours does exactly what its doing now. Something marxism and dialectics neglect though is this interplay of everyones desires, the spectacle, etc. im sure you already know about all this im also still marxist despite it all. its why the revolution didnt happen when it was supposed to, it didnt account for that maybe people as long as they are fed want to be in simulacra. Thankfully though its also why this will fail, why the "proletariat" will decouple and the ones truly at the mercy of this hallucinating machine will be at the top and capital and value itself. Consumption is so readily available and can be done infinitely on your phone, it will cease being desireable. Information will cease being desireable, good or bad and true and false it will all be the same. The act of creation, that will be scarce and desireable. To hold someone. To love in an ugly messy new way not fed to us by media. We will "pass through", and the rich will be trapped inside. I basically said this in another thread already but yours popped up and was so relevant so I decided to expand on what I was saying. Capitalism is always gonna exist within us like God still does, exactly in the exact same way God still does. We underestimated capitalism as just another system, but it can completely absorb and contain within it all other systems and moral and political values and be unshaken. This is why it is exactly like god, in the same way for a long time God was unshakeable and a world without God was unimaginable and even those who didnt believe were forced to react to God and still exist within this supreme materiality of God; that is us in capitalism. Only capitalism could even contain all the multitudes of a reality with and without god, it can even market God. Just like it can sell you a che shirt without a worry. But im very confident this thing we both are talking about is what will finally as u might say negates or sublates or whatever capitalism. Not because its good its very awful and does a lot of damage to our minds, it just in spite of this seems to be for the reasons I listed. But im down to hear another perspective, your friends might be way more coupled to the AI than I expect, my mom kind of is but even her I can see cracks forming.

>>97030 bro, I is kinda broke. No GPU. Other stuff comes first (not a burger). So I do end up paying for Claude... > JS slop -> JS AI Slop I think you raised a good point. I associate building with AI with quicksand, stratification, and riding a horse. Stratification goes back to your JS reference, AI builds according to the users "desires". If the user is not technically proficient he is left at the mercy of AI; cannot see the flaws or beyond, because he does not know there are flaws or a beyond. If the users knows what he wants then he can bring forward a specific project (constrained by the tool). So with AI, we are building systems faster, but for competing systems there HAS to be a winner (capitalism). So what's important becomes a matter of taste. Knowing what tools to use, what to build, how to build, how to pivot. And your ecosystem influences it a lot. E.g. you went to a certain school, which taught certain subjects, but beyond the concepts you internalized: what you should focus on: practical or theoretical social skills or writing skills values but not only the focus but the baseline is internalized (ok compared to my peers I'm above average, when it comes to writing, average FOR US means a 10 page paper citing 5+ articles and a book chapter, and ...) these shared tastes (which are embodied as networks of people who remain friends, family, business partners, etc) go an shape the world to be honest I feel this applies to thinking as well... people who are clearly not retarded discover they can think and go about thinking and thinking (but if there is no point of reference, no way to filter quality from pleasurable ideas) you can end up building sophisticated slop. Now le marxists might doomspeak and state "but AI is an imposition", we are forced to either produce and consume by means of AI. Those that don't want to participate have no place in the society we are building. And it is true! imo. (very sad indeed) But somebody stated already it didn't start with AI. AI is merely the next upgrade of the infrastructure. Digitalization, the rise of conglomerates, the weakening middle class. Same wave. For the kid who is clearly not a burger, clearly not retarded, and who actually reads ze books. There is a particular lineage of thinkers that broaches our relationship with technology "well" (matter of taste). Deleuze, Guattari, Lyotard, Bernard Stiegler, Derrida even throwing in Gordon Pask (but different lineage doing other stuff). That is not the problem, it's just a symptom of disease. Disease is more related to secularism and the destruction of the family unit kinda stuff. Communist policies will be adopted and coerced by "ze capitalistic overlordz". UBI for the freshly minted consumer class (and people will, sadly, celebrate this). back to AI -> riding the horse brain go brr AI go fast I try to keep up with AI and correct the course with auto-accept on. quicksand sneaky AI always tries to converge. "Yeah I made a mistake", "Good catch"... kind if like the language police (or whatever it was) on the 1984 book. This was always the way it was.

I also don't bother engaging in polemics because, for me, debating is pointless. We will not solve anything discussing obscene theories that either party will not be attempting to implement or turn into any sort of action. If it smells like something actually different, I might engage, but it's very rarely I have to. I also do not wish to waste time on agreeing on definitions of terms, words and phrases, because we rarely can even agree on a moral foundation and by the time we agree on a definition, we'll share 2 - 3 questions and answers, and it will be concluded. >Before you get offended And what am I to be offended by? You just don't appreciate sardonic commentary. >So, lacking talent for a more productive and interesting hobby, you turn on your computer, connect to the web, and start "fighting" strangers to pass the time while you try to disguise this fact as some kind of intellectual cynicism. This is incorrect. I'm considered fairly talented and I'm surprisingly well respected in my field (albeit, it's a niche one), I'm not cynical, and the entire thing was (mostly) intended for a laugh with a light bit of criticism in there. There is some degree of seriousness in there, but a good chunk of it is intended to be funny to lighten up that seriousness in the first place. I'm sorry about the misunderstanding, this happens a lot. Also, I just talk this way. I think it is because of the type of literature that I engage with, it completely ruined my active vocabulary. >By reading your waste of meaningless text This is just a gap in knowledge/foundation. That said, I should stop expecting people to know what I'm talking about. The references are always overtly niche and Lainchan's user base is not remotely the same as it was 3 - 4 years ago. I mean, I rarely see anyone talking about metaphysics in the first place, nevermind Evolian Traditionalism. >I can't help but imagine that you're similar to a Looney Toon in real life Well, if I'm honest - I'm a fit, married, and happy mid-30s software engineer with a son and I run a FOSS company on the side. I'm not dysgenic or anything like that, thankfully, I'm not the mentally ill, terminally online pleroma/mastadon user you likely think I am. I mostly just talk to people when I'm waiting for stuff to compile or for a test to run. Sometimes I just read or something, but a good chunk of the time, I just like to check in on netizens. >For those who ironically say that this person generated that text using AI, I don't think so; AI provides more interesting conversations than this curious specimen. Now I'm serious when I say I feel bad for having been arrogant towards you. You can't hear me, but my apologies are sincere. But it leaves me with a mix of frustration, depression, and confusion that you're able to hold a conversation like an actual intelligent human being and not like, you know, the typical cowardly anonymous web crawler who spouts their dark desires behind a monitor without fear of the consequences. That's why I was so hostile towards you at first. I tend to discriminate people for using slang words like 'nigger' or for using words that were never intended to have an insulting connotation like 'retarded.' I feel like people do it just to follow some kind of irreverent trend or because it's the virtual equivalent of taking a dump on a bench when nobody's looking. I mean, just because we're a couple of anonymous strangers online doesn't mean we have to behave like savages. But, as for maturity, you've made me look like an idiot; and that genuinely hurts more than any cheap insult. I'm being honest when I say that your sudden change in attitude took me by surprise and I'm even ashamed of myself. People say we "shouldn't take the Internet seriously," but I completely disagree with that mindset. Humans invented: the largest collection of information in the known universe, a way to communicate with any individual on the planet who has a decent Internet connection and, most importantly, a place where we can express our ideas without fear of censorship by government parasites or unscrupulous businessmen... and yet, people use it for mindless entertainment, fighting for no reason, and storing degenerate pornography. I'm honestly surprised that humans haven't gone extinct yet. Now more than ever, we should take the internet more seriously, considering that it was discovered that the elites (although it bothers me that they are called that) are colluding in depraved circles that seek to treat civilians like cattle. Only the unity of this "herd" can stop the intentions of these sick people who want to pretend that they are the owners of life itself. But anyway, I'm rambling now. I really appreciate you helping me develop my critical thinking. And again, sorry for treating you like an idiot. I can see that behind the online facade, you're actually an interesting person.
