Relationships and the ability to love

Terzibashjian · 2026-01-01 15:50
This may be a generational issue but i havent had friends relate really. I love my family and at times desperately crave a relationship, someone to hold and cherish. I've had relationships, all of which I ended after a few months as i lost interest (or maybe I noticed I didn't care for them? Idk). Ive had a rough few months and now that my life is not as fuarrrked up anymore, I thinks it's going great, the craving for a relationship has become unbearable at times. I could hop on the good old apps or go out of my way to find someone IRL, both of which is fine with me. But idk it's all kind of fuarrrked up, how are you supposed to love someone, that younfont love yet? I don't really know where I'm going w this but can anyone relate or has advice?

>>96009 I can relate, lain. Love is this weird idea that looks unattainable and, to me, also sounds like a trap. Describtions sound like many adjustments take place in the mind when it's on. Try getting really good at something you enjoy and it should keep you going. Works for me, but some contact could be nice from time to time and I don't like that at all. Another thing, try answering this before you cave in to the cravings: do you enjoy the company you provide to yourself? If you don't, try working on that before you expand your circle of attention away from solitude.

>>96043 >If you don't, try working on that before you expand your circle of attention away from solitude. This is a trap, skill development isn't rigidly time-linear like this. You have to both engage socially and do alone time better in a cycle and deepen them cultivating a feedback loop; it's more like digging a canal than like building a dam.

same - i feel out of place on this earth in general. everybody just seems to be malfitting for me, and i consequently cut off parts of myself everytime (and parts of my brain) to tolerate all these people and fit in in reality I don't feel in line with any of them and am not satisfied

>>96053 That's the one thing I fear about going self employed in some kind of future -nobody around to use for mutual reflection. As good as I am at keeping myself busy, goofing around in the workplace is needed from time to time. Regardless, one should find something to get good at. I stand by this.
