I simply told her about the 4 essential freedoms of free software and told her about how proprietary software (gave Windows as an example) puts profit above ethics by selling your data to various third parties and how free software not only respects your privacy but how it also comes with various other perks like the freedom of modifying software at the very core of it. I also went on to talk about how I refuse to use proprietary software because it doesn't acts in the users interest. I know it sounds like a soykafpost but I'm being 100% truthful with this.

Unfortunately, sexual abuse of children has drastically worsened since the 2010s (current growth of about 30% reported cases per year). If I recall correct, 60% of all cp material was hosted in EU servers (notably in the Netherlands and Slovakia). On top of all that, it's getting more frequent, predatory as well as a lot more violent in nature, despite the member states' increasing efforts to curb the trend. At this point there doesn't seem to be any viable alternatives, other than barring children from the Internet (hence the online ID verification stuff) and preventing any remaining possibilities for abuse (hence the AI stasi system for pedos).

Can't say what the percentage is generally (still researching this stuff). But specifically in France, I read that it was 80% of all cases that happened within families, and 27% percent were perpetrated by dads and 13% by uncles.

Has it worsened or is it simply being reported(and dealt with)much more frequently because people have become more educated about it?
>other than barring children from the Internet
Here is how I'd do it:
1)prohibit the purchase of internet-capable devices illegal without ID
2)allow the usage of a family computer with the supervision of an adult.
3)fine soykaf parents who give unrestricted access to the internet.Make it a type of child neglect.
Making EVERYONE permanently give some random database their ID is a soykaf way to keep the children out of it.(because the law is obviously not about that).

I agree that children need to stay off the internet. I don't agree that we should be forced to upload our IDs to age-verification platforms to compensate for the absence of parents in their children's upbringing. Parental controls already exist on every smartphone.

I do agree with the sentiment here about the anti-privacy laws. I do wonder though, without killing privacy, what can be done to combat the rampant distribution of CSAM? It's clear that current efforts are pretty ineffective. I stand behind freedom of speech and the right to privacy with a lot of passion. The thing is though, that I have just as much passion about getting rid of pedophiles as much as possible. And then I wonder, even if these laws are obviously not about the protection of children, won't they be pretty effective at that anyways? Sure its extreme but a lot of retarded pedophiles will be caught this way I'm sure.
>tfw the psyop worked on me
Seriously though,if not this, then how do we stop pedos more effectively? Do we just accept them as a necessary evil that exists as an unfortunate outcome of having privacy, and just don't engage with them and keep them out of our spaces? That's the correct mindset I think, and yet I struggle to accept that the things I stand for indirectly help the exploitation of children...

About the discussion above. Most porn of minors is teenagers putting it up themselves out of their own will or because it was shared without their permission from sexting. Most you see show up on imageboards and such come from Slavic countries mostly Russia and Ukraine selling it on social media like VK. Supposedly teens do it so much there they put some professional child pornographers out of business. If you improve living conditions for people then they wont need to do things like that for money.
https://meduza.io/en/feature/2017/07/27/the-kids-aren-t-alright
Other than that maybe just stop treating kids and teens and adults all alike like helpless retards, let them grow as people and learn how to make better decisions for themselves and know how to come to other people for help if they have something bothering them.
Why this obsession with sexual stuff when non sexual child abuse is far more widespread and is committed equally by men and women against both boys and girls. It seems like an obvious distraction away from accepted child and teen abuses mostly done by parents and a distraction from government authorities trying to make an excuse to shut down dissent. Notice how it is alway minors never something like adult rape video victims used as a scapegoat unless it is a specific individual? This is because they can speak for themselves in which some want people to see these things so they know what it is really like, so the politicians focus on kids who cant speak for themselves or can but wont be heard because their opinions and feelings are thrown aside.
藤原純一 · 2025-08-29 01:52

if they were serious about it they should have shut down porn sites known to distribute rape videos. Instead the porn sites got away in court with "we cant tell its real rape so you cant ban us ;)" Note also how visa/mastercard is refusing payments for games & manga but still supplies their domestic rape porn sites that are owned by their own people.
If you look at whats happening and not at what they say then they are factually protecting their own industry while killing alternatives to funnel all the pdf's to their own shops.
Uk also already showcased police protecting pdfs instead of the kids.
What do you think will better surveillance tools do in that environment? The surveillance tools will protect the pdfs not the kids by censoring mentions of pdf crime just as they already do with their current tools.
Frank Garza · 2025-08-29 03:18

The visa mastercard etc thing is result of fosta sesta which was a poorly written law meant to protect sex trafficking victims but only harms sex workers, and also behind it a few conservative christian anti porn groups leveraging the payment processors with lawsuits and threats to turn them into the feds to be audited which costs them time and money. Those groups are using CP as their attempt to eventually shut down all porn and nudity and that is just the start since they will move on to other things to censor once they get enough going. That doesnt directly relate to ID checks being passed but at least Collective Shout the founder is behind an ID check system they are trying to put in Australia. The end goal here is make it so even adults can not access porn because it will be so privacy invasive to do so. They also will move this into other things such as ID checks to look up information on medical information to prevent informed patients. It's all such a mess.

IIRC the problem started with underage CP and revenge porn on Phub and then instead of regulators saying that as a media company they should manage what their content is, they pulled the "Just a service provider and not responsible for what people post" until Visa/Mastercard said they would stop processing payments, and then their solution was to just "verify" users, which meant they could charge both the customers to view and download, and the producers to host their content. (note that this literally has not stopped them at all from having peoples videos posted without consent, and IIRC there was also a problem where a woman was not aware that she was being filmed, and then when she tried to have the porn of her taken down, she was told that as she did not have copyright rights as the verified uploader she had no say in the matter.

I made plans to go out with an old friend, but then today I found out that someone killed himself instead of coming in to work in the morning. Needless to say, I am now posting here because I can't really talk to anyone else without being seen as insane.
I didn't know who he was, but someone showed me his suicide note. Some other people said it was so sad, how he must have been fighting terrible demons and then went about their day, because who would agree with a man who just thoroughly explaining his reasons for killing himself?
But when I read the note, I froze and had to fight back my emotions. He had almost all the same views as me, and the letter wasn't sad at all. He seemed like a really good person. He was younger than I am, and I saw myself at his age in his suicide note, it made me think of the thread "if you could write a letter to your younger self what would you say." I guess the opposite is true here.
He just graduated from college, and probably wasn't even older than 21.
I won't post the text here because I don't want to doxx him, but part of me feels like he might have posted here, he made some very specific references and said some very specific phrases that I know everything I need to know about him.
I can't explain why the death of someone I never even knew haunts me so much. There are some other things he said that make me think that he left behind a lot of good in this world and the changes he made might have more than a small impact even though he would never take credit for it. I think the thing that hurts the most is that I moved on from the way I felt when I was his age, and it's like looking at a mirror of how things might have gone differently for both of us if only we had made one or two decisions differently.

It's the sign of a longing for some kind of destruction or perhaps suffering because I cannot imagine how people who feel well would want to be something else than what they are.
Sane societies naturally reject what they intuitively identify as ills. We have been trained for decades to accept these ills and even support them and hail them.

Convenient. When it comes to freedom of speech and its corrolary which is all about censorship, the companies feel very concerned about our well being and take a strong authoritatian, restraining and private approach to this, but when it is about using this freedom of supposed "expression" in the form of the production of debased sexual content, all of sudden it's hands up and pure laissez faire, "our platform is a public one so people do what they want" etc. The sheer hypocrisy of it is sickening.

This is the kind of thing that reinforces gender roles in society and is the reason why there is so much conflict over dressing differently.
If a white man wears a kimono or a poncho and sombrero, he would either be called a cosplayer, or a racist. Nobody really cared about cross dressers until people started saying that their gender was wrong as justification. People have been cross dressing for thousands of years. If a guy wore a dress, or a girl wore pants because they like the style, it's different than saying they aren't in the right body. Also cross dressing for humor or theater is a thing too.

You are absolutely no one. You aren't your environment, body, mind, emotions or thoughts. You are simply a loosely defined observer who is experiencing all those things. But you are more than an observer, you are the master of them. And as the master of the random flesh you were born in you get to decide what is done with it. If you are not satisfied with it's current form or presentation you are free to alter it in any way you desire,to fit the aesthetic preferences you decide to pursue. To believe that you were born for a preconceived set of looks is absolute slave mentality.
You have no nature. You have no specific set limits on what you can be. That's your decision to make.
And before you strawman the hell out of that statement,no I am not suggesting you can become a bbq grill(although you're free to try lol). I'm somewhat restricting "anything you want to be" to something possible within the limits of the human experience.

Murricans are becoming stronger, then Present Day, Present Time! AHAHAHAHAHA!
My take is that the "woke" thing is just a very recent one. I figure because the irrational fear that murricans have for communism created a void in a compass for the improvement of the society that addresses the working class, they had to try to make their own ideology that's not communism, especially in the face of a weakening social structure. I don't think the days of "woke" were necessarily "good times" or "easy" for anyone, and I imagine that is exactly why woke propspered in the first place. The (so-called western) economy and social fabric have been degrading for a good number of years, and they warped old ideas of tolerance and whatnot to try to wheather these strange times, and also to try to move more money around (especially in the direction of pharmaceuticals).

The hole was created by atheism. People left classical religion but still wanted someone to tworship unquestionable idea's instead of gods. The constant pattern is you have to believe nonsense to be part of the group which works better than real truths because outsiders would agree with you on real things so only nonsense works as a in group test.
As for where the sjw movement comes from: In the 70s universities considered opening up new fields. Grifters that couldn't enter classical science fields came up with social justice as a field to grab the free money. From there it has been steadily growing. At the core its just bureaucracy - useless people justifying their own existence with madeup problems.

its because the trannies and gay are happy. both sides of this debate are social dropouts who were bullied in high school, whether it be incels with misanthropic views on society or queer people these very people might even have been friends at one point in time. chances are they see society as largely fake anyway, but what the incels see is their former friends changing themselves to be happy and this only makes makes them feel more alienated, like they've lost someone dear because in their eyes they have.

The internet is making me agoraphobic. These "esoteric" nihilist, utilitarian, fundamentalist, scientist, accelerationist, misanthropic, etc. freaks, especially the ones who're into it ironically, make me wonder how many of the people outside in the real world are into this stuff (not many). I don't ever want to meet these sociopathic people in real life. I want to befriend people who know to be modest. I'm not saying that I want to only meet status quo normal people, quite the opposite, as they're the ones entangled in the division and spectacle. I know my overreaction here isn't exactly making me look like someone who "knows to be modest". I'd just like to know if anyone can relate.

I don't think you're overreacting. Technology and science seem to decrease freedom and benefit the powerful first, and their development rate is accelerating. Maybe that's why you're afraid - not because you don't want to meet a fellow man.

These people are often well educated, but well educated in the wrong direction so they are actively making the world a worse place. Neuroticism is a commonly running theme - rationalists deliberately reject human nature and fundamentally argue that we should replace our personalities with the game theory algorithm and view every social interaction as purely transactional. The good news is that it is easy to spot these people, and it is also easy to devise strategies to keep them at arms length - soft rejecting their presence. Neurotics don't take it well when you reject them outright and it is better to put them on the backburner until they get distracted with something else.

i have a friend i feel a lot of things for, we reconnected after several years of not talking and it threw me into a deep depression in which I realized and remembered a lot of things from my childhood. since then every time we hangout I leave in tears, yesterday we went to the beach and she was in a mood. As she walked ahead of me i felt like I was chasing a ghost.
In an attempt to understand her ive been living like her and it has provided a lot of insight. Im pretty much always doing something now. I have so many people around i can hardly keep track of them all, even the ones I really love. I have a new girlfriend and in the same way my friend used to be this source of fun and adventure for me I am for my new girlfriend. Im also addicted to painkillers. i think my other friends and girlfriend feel lesser because when I talk about her or come back from hanging out with her i cant help but quietly cry. its the realization that even though she is the closest thing she can never be what i lost, and whats gone is gone forever. feeling betrayed at her leaving was all I really had to live for, trying to better myself so that one day shed see me and feel like a fool for not wanting to be around me all the time. now shes seen me and yet even when we are together, or holding hands on the beach, or laughing, its like shes not really there. Because she never was what I made her out to be, even though I love her the most, she doesnt uniquely understand me. She isnt uniquely my only salvation, she isnt uniquely close to me. She hit a few of the right notes to worm her way inside me, theres so many others who know me just as well. When I look at my girlfriend when shes sleeping, see my dying friend still making art and living life full force, or see some of my students giggling with eachother and holding eachother like siblings, momentarily there is so much beauty and happiness. But the hole remains, and in dreams and in life I could chase her on beaches forever and still be living in the shadow of a shadow. There isnt enough time in the world to hold her close, because what im trying to hold isnt there.
A mutual friend of ours was telling me they wanted to kill themselves, I couldnt bare the thought but mainly because of how they in my head are a part of the memories with her. If something were to happen the memories of this one aspect of my life that made me feel like I almost grasped what was lost in her would stain me forever. Us three hanging out, crying together, playing, but unfortunately mostly her. So much of me and even my relationships with others is clearly in my mind wrapped up as all being contained within her. As people die, metaphorically and figuratively, pillars within her are knocked down, and the intense feelings she evokes weaken. Till my ultimate fear that one day all our mutual friends, all the time we spent, will be just a faintly sad memory.
In a way it reminds me that everything dies, and maybe that is why its so sad. Normally I can pass through life detatched, aware of this fact but able to press on. But this is my treasure, my achilles heel, my source of inspiration and my weakness all wrapped up in the memories and feelings of this one person.
All I can do is distract myself to get through each week

Resources are finite, the job market is tough. They have a set of skills which isn't very useful for anything except benefitting large organizations. Governments, corporations.
Every single large organization without exception is evil, they always were, since the stone age. There has never been an empire in human history that wasn't evil.

I feel pretty unfulfilled with my life currently.
Firstly, my girlfriend of 3 years has been becoming increasingly less appealing to me. She has a social media/screen time problem and is constantly scrolling through tiktok when we are at home or even out together. I feel like it's had a significant impact on our connection, as she is often too focused on whatever is on her phone rather than doing stuff with me. We barely get intimate anymore, and honestly when we do, it feels kind of awkward and almost forced. Sometimes I think I'm falling out of love with her, but I really don't want to just give up on our time spent together. I've tried telling her about these issues and she was address it and improve for a short period of time but will often revert back to her old ways. It feels as if she puts very little effort into our relationship.
Secondly, about 10 years ago, I moved away from my hometown to live in a city very far away. Over the years, I've becoming increasingly home sick and wish to move back home. However, there are things here which are keeping me from moving (my previously mentioned girlfriend, for one. she has no intention of ever leaving where we live) and some unfinished schooling. I just don't want to be here anymore but I feel trapped.

Let me spare you a few years: break up with your girlfriend. I was in a somewhat similar situation: 10-year relationship, not feeling fulfilled, feeling as though the parts of me that are important to weren't being recognized or appreciated, etc. On the other hand, my ex was incredibly intelligent, a great conversationalist, an impressive person in many ways--but the love and kindness was missing. I *knew* the relationship wasn't right for me (as it sounds like you do), but I was afraid: what if I couldn't find someone better? What if I mad this big change and regretted it?
Finally, I was forced to either marry her or break up, and I decided on the latter. It was a brutal decision, but I felt relieved pretty shortly thereafter. I got to travel, make some life moves that wouldn't have been possible--I spent two years meeting new people, winding up in different situations, etc. Now I'm dating someone else--someone totally different ("better" in some regards, "worse" in others--but the connection feels much better). You can learn more about yourself, learn what sort of person would really be a match for you. Make a plan to leave that city and eventually do it, etc. Open up some new doors.
I know it's scary but the freedom is just totally worth it.

Your gf has an addiction. People with addictions of any kind, social media, gambling, drugs, alcohol, whatever, are the worst people on earth to have a relationship with. It will get worse and worse until she does something that destroys your life beyond repair. The soone you get out of the relationship, the better. You can't save her or fix her, and she will destroy you.
I'd say get her out of your life, then finish your local commitments, then go where you really want to be. And don't let her follow you. And be careful. People with addictions are unpredictable and dangerous. Stay away from them.

Believe it or not, I was a teenager in the 1960s. And you have it exactly right. I feel very lucky to have experienced the 1960s, the last decade of the American golden age. Starting with 1970, America and the world have slowly descended into a hell I would never have believed possible. You even got the year right that the bottom finally dropped out: 2016. Prostitution has been turned from bad to worst via the promotion of porn as the latest alternative to prostitution. You would be wise to do some research into comparing society and the way it practiced prostitution in the days before the mainstreaming of porn and how they practiced it after. A lot of the soykaf you see in the "average" porno nowadays was inconceivable to the prostitutes of 1825. The reason prostitution has turned so gnarly now is cause the whole bar has been lowered for sexuality across the board, and because most prostitutes are on hard drugs and hard drugs are always getting harder these days.

When I talk with someone about my interests I feel emotionally drained, uncomfortable, and even disturbed, even if the conversation lasts for just a few minutes. I used to talk to people about my interests too much and was met with mild subconscious social exclusion (I was not bullied, I just made others feel bored). This was a not traumatic and I was not the victim, but somehow it permanently affected me regardless, and I haven't been able to sincerely talk with others since. This coupled with another pathetic life "experience" has left me shaken. The only form of sincere communication I can handle is completely anonymous. The idea of talking to a therapist is hilarious to me. I should be the one listening. I'm looking forwards to living in isolation.

I posted about my break up earlier in the thread. She took me back for a few days and then broke up with me again while I was sleeping at her place (I know I should know better, but I love too strongly). She gave me hope just to break my heart again, the whole thing was messy and has kind of traumatized me. She never really gave a reason for the breakup, especially not the second time.
And so I was broken up with by the same girl twice in one week. I was very depressed for a bit. I'm doing okay now, life goes on. But every so often I think of her and it hurts for a bit. My mind runs through all of our good times, plans, what could've went wrong. She's been in all of my dreams. I saw just now that she unfollowed me on social media and it's a bit of a shock how real the finality of it feels.
I wish I cherished her more, and that we could've ended on better terms. I will always remember her and can only hope I'll have a better love in the future.

Now fast forward 5 years and I'm doing quite well but realized that im still just a walking husk of a person. I go to work and gym but really have no social life. Though I can do quite well socially its just not me and I just can't envision myself going out with friends or ever having a gf. Idk its just the thought that my whole life I thought I was doing something but then when it comes to everything which matters I just feel like I have no experience.
You know it hit me the other day when I was out with some co-workers, the couple girls there were talking about their bf and kinda assumed I was in a similar situation but it really just registered to myself that damn although im in this position now, ive almost lost sight of the 'why' question. and expanding on my relationship with women, It just feels strange. I really want a gf but also think i'm just too jaded to put in the time and effort. I have a girl who really wants to date me and there's nothing wrong with her it just feels wrong as if she isn't enough but I know full well I'll feel the same with almost every other girl I pursue romantically, its that grass is always greener paradox.
I know this comes of as incel-y but I really am envious of people who are happy with their gf and can do all the lovey dovey stuff together. Although I do deeply desire that type of relationship, I just can't put one foot in front of the other to get there and its not because im incapable attraction wise but feel crippled mentally. Its like I'm caged in a prison where I can never really leave without feeling a sense of meaningless which ultimately leads to a feeling of contempt for myself. I spent 27 years alone and out of nowhere a woman decided she liked me. We e-dated for about 4 months and planned on visiting each other soon. Earlier this week she asked what our kids would look like. She is the most important person in my life.
Two days ago she had a falling out with her roommate which brought her to the brink of suicide for reasons I don't fully understand. I fought tooth and nail to talk her down for two hours. She said she would be okay but I've not heard from her since. It was the single most harrowing day of my life. I don't know if she's still alive, dead, or sitting in a hospital somewhere.
Her roommate hasn't seen her again, and her irl friend hasn't heard from her since then either. Short of contacting her parents (who she doesn't have the best relationship with) I have no idea what else I can do.
I'm completely unable to focus on anything. I don't know what to do. All I can do is rot in bed and maybe sleep for 4 hours of the day. I feel like I can't grieve yet because she might still be out there.

It's not like there's anything important left which hasn't already been restricted, mutilated or otherwise ruined to the extent that it no longer matters anyway: brainless consumption has become a vocation, all "content" is politicized brainrot slop that is made as effortlessly and easy to consume as possible thereby killing art, intrigue, and "soul", there are no longer internet communities (nor were there ever, because the internet only unites us in our collective isolation, and only now have I begun to realize that), everything is min-maxed to the point that we're all slowly turning into hollowed-out machines trained by the 0s and 1s to be the best possible panzermen slaver drones as possible to chase the glorious ALGO, which is a bastardized imitation of human desire that tries to supplant our inborn human will and curiosity, the mindless herd have already made the total control of a digital society for the Algo-AI-McZucc overlords possible by surrendering all their data to them on a silver platter via social media to create the most encompassing profile of an average man that it will subjugate even the l33t hack3r IQ 500 men who still delude themselves to thinking that they themselves at least might elude their Big Brother with their galaxy brains, when the truth is that in our world quantity eventually always ends up trumping quality, and you can't even escape the dominion of the global CCTV and the five eyes watching it all unfold on every corner of the world, because at the other side of the iron curtain there will be another set of eyes ogling at you. This soykaf all needs to be burned down, and quite frankly the only way that is ever going to happen is by accelerating all these restrictive trends to the point that it becomes unbearably suffocating to live in such conditions. Then everyone is going to beg for a global conflagration to sweep over the the world to purify ourselves of this anti-human clanker soykaf.

That is not how Chrysippus died, but the rest of you post is correctamundo.
> In the first account, Chrysippus was seized with dizziness having drunk undiluted wine at a feast, and died soon after. In the second account, he was watching a donkey eat some figs and cried out: "Now give the donkey a drink of pure wine to wash down the figs", whereupon he died in a fit of laughter.

I just can’t!! Half an hour slept in, 8 hours to have my brain melt under surveillance for some wages I barely can pay my expenses with. Tired and drained coming home and no, just nothing and never to reconnect to anything. Some complain of starting out late. Bitch until couple little years ago i was burried to my neck in nightmares thinking that is all I can have -for a tomorrow where I have to drop everything just to stay alive. I can’t make it. I really, utterly don’t want to live like this. I tried, I really do, it’s just that this world was never for me. And I can acknowledge that. Just let me go without a word, let me start somewhere else in another time, another universe. One where I had a chance.

Looking over my psychiatric papers is like kicking dead whales down the beach, it reminds me of everything bad that I've done across the last 10 years. My meltdown that led me to the psych ward for the first time is there, the psychotic episode that threw me in the same hellhole is also there and looking at the way I describe my state of being is horrendous, I also hold back from what I say a lot since if I was honest I'd be thrown into the loony bins again, and a 4th involuntary stay there is going to crush up any glimmer of hope that I might still have left despite knowing I should be there. The recommendations are basically just to expose myself to situations that produce anxiogens, to make my therapist focus on the theory of mind aspect and to reconnect with my family, which would only end up bringing more dismay into me. Their "solution" is just to interact with people more but the only thing that I'm going to get from trying to make friends in this miserable state is at best a necrophiliac borderline crack addict who's messed up enough to look past my misery. The only person that I've ever bonded with is an orphaned meth addict and it was just because we miserable enough to make fun out of the whole situation. I still miss that guy.

i really feel like i could and can be anyone, it used to be a sort of curse like not having a personality but now this in itself has become my personality. Im sure there is other things too about me I dont really notice that stay consistent no matter what, but lately ive been told i am a social chameleon. its been a lot of work to be at a point where other people notice that, i didnt think it would ever happen actually I was surprised when someone first told me it and even more surprised when everyone agreed. it isnt something that comes naturally to me, but now im in a place where I can make almost anyone talk for hours and be very excited to hear more. People might see it as "fake" but im rarely actually faking, in the moment im truly interested in whatever the persons talking about and my questions are genuine. I never had to read any stupid self help books or watch any talks, i really just observed people and asked questions starting when I was around 20 and now I am close to 30 and can blend in and make friends anywhere like I always wanted to be able to. And im able to pick out now who is dangerous and who isnt from my 5 years of living in a pretty rough city, having stalkers and run ins with legitimate sociopaths (i think but i guess everyone thinks cruel people they encounter are sociopatgs). Il never be alone again which is what I always have dreamed of, and ive been able to build a community around me. Most of all ive been able to connect the disparate friend groups and communities ive inserted myself in, something that used to terrify me. I dont really have to worry anymore if I act one way in one space and a different way in another, because everyone knows that is a part of how i am. There isnt any shame any more, i am inherently just a blabbering mouth and no one really faults me for showing one side to one person and a very different side to another, because i am always generally nice and supportive. These things shine through over my ways of talking or what i talk about or what jokes i make now.
This might sound like a big gloat but whats funny is all this just to finally in my late 20s be able to stop fixating on this and actually focus on my career, my passions, etc. Not that I havent been doing anything in those areas but this was my passion and I couldnt really focus on anything else truly until I could resolve it. Id get jobs based on if id be able to interact with a lot of people, id only really pursue my passions in college and then once i graduated community college classes and workshops and etc. where I could again interact with a lot of people. I know many normcore types already got this aspect of their life figured out by like 21 and then hit the road running on pursuing their lifes work or whatever. So I cant really gloat, im a way im very behind, but I also know a lot of people like me who just gave up on people. Who did empty themselves into their passions but decided loving and being loved was pointless, that people were pointless, that friends were pointless. People who say things like "its hard to make friends as an adult". Well it safely isnt for me now, and I cant describe to you how much loneliness weighed on me from the time I was just 12 years old. And thankfully I figured out around 18 that the solution would never be making one special friend, meeting the one special girl, but the solution was to feel like I could always make friends anywhere. I had around 3 tragic events in my preteens where very important people were taken from me due to illness or moving away, that is to say taken from me in ways I couldnt control or stop. The final time it happened I lost my ability to socialize and make new friends, and that was when I truly felt alone. It wasnt just the family member being taken from me, that can be grieved and processed. It was the feeling that id never have that connection again, and now I will never feel that way again. I will feel loss and sadness again, and life will always fill us with holes that can never really be filled. But il never feel like I cant find something new, in someone new. I actually get sadder than I ever used to these days, but im freer than ever and my anxiety is nonexistant when it comes to approaching new people and entering new spaces. There is a universe where this all never happened and I lived in a fraction of my current world, repressed and depressed and scared. Never really knowing whats out there. It all seems like just a series of fortunate encounters and decisions that led to this, il only pat myself on the back for not giving up and making the decision to put my focus on people even though it looked to others like a waste of time or they couldnt understand. I dont have any ill will towards those people, I totally understand why they didnt understand, im just happy now most of them can recognize how much ive changed and comment how much happier I seem and how much more pleasant I am to be around whenever I see them.

After spending years socially isolated, cynical, and miserable I decided to build my life around socialization instead of what is acceptable. Whenever I did something, if it negatively affected my social life I tossed it - if it benefited my social life then I prioritized it. I made dramatic changes in my late college years and it has been life changing. I no longer chase what the system/society/parents want from me and live for myself. All my interactions feel authentic and meaningful. Life feels like it's worth living again. I don't work that much and I don't care too. Almost everyday I have something fun to do with people that are fun. Life is too short and all the anxiety and depression was all in my head. All my degenerate addictions went away too, it was kind of amazing.

No that isnt all it definitely was a factor always and for sure later on. Id do a lot of what this poster said
>>93560
but I guess to be more specific early on I put a lot of blind faith into people and that was the jumpstart. I was very cynical about people and I decided I have nothing to lose and went 180 and anyone who extended a hand I latched on to. Turns out I did have some things to lose and somstimes this was a mistake. Overall though through failed friendships and relationships I never pulled a "fuarrrk them" or "this is why I dont like people" and I always sort of thought about what I did that pushed the person away. Its funny cause many will tell you this is bad and you shouldnt do that, but this is advice given to and from people who already had a period of over analyzing what they could have done different to keep xyz person around. So its a little deceptive when people tell you "oh your tribe will find you blah blah dont let people change you, if they are meant to be in your life they will stay etc.". Thats good advice for me now where there is certain people i put all this effort into maintaining our relationship and they can hardly lift a finger, but if I followed that sort of advice early on I would be isolated and confused.
There is some other things and in retrospect its hard to say how much each piece played a part, I know that overall at the core of it the main work was in just throwing myself at relationships and friendships and parties and whatever over and over regardless of how embarassed or hurt I got. Often I think if you can do that without getting cynical and quitting (and there was moments after particularly bad ends to relationships especially I did isolate again for a bit) you should trust your brain will figure out its own way and it might look different than mine. But I guess some of the other weird things I did;
During this initial period I was throwing myself at people and kind of following them around like a disciple, asking them questions and listening, almost interrogating sometimes to figure out why they act or think how they do with regards to things I like about them. Simultaneously I was also taking acid a lot. I would often feel like I literally had a version of them in my head, like I could parse through my internal monologue as if I were them. Sometimes this would even happen where on the comedown of a trip I would watch interviews of a particular writer or musician I admired and the same thing would happen, id devlop a internal monologue that would become their voice and (my idea) of how they thought. Maybe this actually set me back, maybe it helped a lot, I have no idea but its worth mentioning. Because I kind of was socially developing for the first time in a long time I have no idea how much this had an impact on me.
The final thing il mention and il catch a lot of flak for this here (fittingly) probably is I almost exclusively befriended women and gay men. Early on I would have a kind of "bro" friend group but this was often where id go to just kind of tell them stories about everything I was up to and practice my new found social skills and bits or whatever. Most men, and increasingly so, are a bit socially retarded and its very helpful to hear how women talk about these men in their absence. Theres a lot of man constructs such as calling you a simp or orbiter or whatever else that are a good sign you are in a downward spiral group of guys and the idea of you having relationships with women or bettering yourself through those relationships is scary. This board is very much like that, some guy who has never had a girlfriend and hardly has friends will start trying to talk down to you about how you are whipped or soy or whatever else because if they accepted you as you are it would mean there is something they can do to better their situation and that means a lot of change and work. Its easier to just say "i wouldnt want to be like that guy anyway" and throw a little tantrum. This is a big generalization and it isnt always true but you should assume other men have basically nothing to offer you socially, in terms of advice or help and half the time even as an actual friend who can help you sort through your mind in a way that wont make you more hopeless and depressed. Especially in the younger generation right now. You probably shouldnt even be listening to me. This is a piece of advice im highly biased on but genuinely when I think back I think if I stuck closer to the men I met instead of the women id met id probably not be able to say what I said and be horifically depressed. Maybe thats just because I happened to have a better eye for good women than I did good men, so take it with a grain of salt yet at the same time know this is also what I consider to have benefitted me the most.
Batou · 2025-09-18 06:02

I think you're just gay man. I can't hold friendships with women that don't at least involve sex, otherwise they have even less to offer than most socially retarded men. I like helping those men because I recognize my own mistakes in them and can offer them advice understanding advice is worthless until you come to the same conclusion by yourself, but nonetheless it's alright to hang out with them. That usually comes with the awkward feeling that men gauge themselves by their friends rather than pussy or achievements so there's a part of them that'll always hate you but that's also the part that pushes you to be an even better man, when you socialize with women unless the relationship is explicitly sexual and you're in that cat-and-mouse cycle where they want to conquer you and you want to stay free because that bitch has seen more cumulative dick than the depth of the Mariana trench and you'd be fuarrrking insane to not tell her straight to her face only a simp would ever consider something serious with her (and a lot of men who gobble down second hand goods for ego's sake) you're essentially stagnating socially, with all the achievements and knowledge and improvement this implies, and that's a soykafty place to be when you're past your mid twenties essentially.

im sorry to hear that but its really got nothing to do with me and the rest of your post is just assumptions about me to make yourself feel better about this fact. i dont identify with anything you are saying, or like none of its ringing true. From the you must be gay to the "oh you dont know what its like to be pushed" to "defining my worth off pussy" or whatever, this all sounds like insane projection to me about things you have done or experienced because I wouldnt even know where else it comes from.
You dont think its insane that its so inconceivable to you that someone could be friends with women that you have to say all of this? its insane you read my post and then decided to do the exact same thing of trying to drag someone down in your mind so you dont have to work on yourself at all. When I say I havent been focusing on other areas of my life as much I still have a good job, am in grad school, and have enough saved to buy a house right now if I wanted. Whatever image in your head you want to be true just isnt im sorry, everything you are saying is unique to you and maybe other incels and isnt some universal truth of the world. There is no "big lesson" im about to learn, whatever minor rejection or social failure you went through to make you like this i assure you ive already been through and I just was able to deal with it in a non insane way that didnt leas me to deciding half the population is "only good for pussy... heh...".

I'm willing to accept differences in worldviews :) I think human beings are hypersexual creatures and that goes even for our social dynamics though. At a certain point I find it hard to reject our biological imperatives entirely and in a social group irl these things become crystal clear through body language and looks but you do you. I'm really glad you're doing well for yourself, that's always nice to hear from other lainons.
Guthrie · 2025-09-19 18:54
>>93582
body language and looks and minor thoughts dont equate to like a full blown attraction though. Im not saying i never find friends attractive i certainly do, but the idea of pursuing something being a want or reality is usually a non thought unless im single and there is some kind of clear thing happening. when you are isolated the bar for what is a "clear sign" is much lower and ive seen men absolutely destroy friendships and friend groups because they interpreted an invite to hang out as some kind of date when no one else would interpret it like this. And then get mad and treat it as some rejection, when there was never anything there. This is why I say the things I say. Guys who never interact with women tend to do this, when you are regularly interacting with women there is too many people and too many interactions to over analyze looks and body language (often wildly incorrectly) and be thinking about sex and if this person is the one all the time. Maybe its just because I grew up for the early part of my life with female siblings but I dont tend to find it has anything to do with biology and instead what leads people to behave like how your describing is just lack of contact. When you are isolated and alone you are desperate so of course you think every invitation or every look is some kind of romantic invitation, especially because with something potentially romantic comes this imagined scenario of being able to keep that person around forever (which is funny cause I find most people even in long term relationships have friends they have had for longer).

Recently switched to Debian Unstable after a long, long, long trip of constant distrohopping, my main problem was that I wanted a distribution that doesn't shove proprietary software in the users' face and the distributions approved by the FSF are all boiling soykaf. Debian offers pretty much that if you mess with the boot options during install. I'd still prefer Gentoo but applying the linux-libre patchsets is always a PITA so I'll probably stick to this. It's comfy so far but it's somewhat pissing me off to see all the unnecessary programs run 24/7, it's either way better than most alternatives.

That's correct. Debian is the modern replacement for Windows 7. It is stable, secure, simple and stays out of your way. I do feel like Debian is not so welcoming for newcomers however. Most of the documentation on their website is very outdated and disorganized and I suspect that any newcomers would struggle a lot because of this. I could go as far as to say that installing Arch is relatively easier for complete beginners because you can just follow the instructions on their wiki.

I've been in college for 3 years. 1 year in each course. Last year I did one and completed it, and I switched to a different one this year (just stating this for context, if it's of any relevance, I just can't decide on what to do with my life). The start of this years course went by about as fine as they could go, I haven't made any friends which will make group projects more difficult but I always just get assigned to a group out of pity anyway.
Today, a "friend" from my last course joined mine all of a sudden. He didn't know I was doing this particular one and I definitely didn't know he was doing the same one I was. We spoke later but the only thing that really hit me was mixed feelings. On one hand, I felt a bit of relief because I finally have someone familiar to speak to in class, but then on the other hand, (and this is the stronger emotion here), I have this feeling that I need to push everyone I knew beforehand away. It's like I can't get too close to people, even if we're only ever going to be superficially close anyway.
Anyone else feel something similar? How'd you get over it? Or are we doomed to be like this forever?

I used to feel this way too in college and my issue was I didnt know how to set good boundaries or say no, i was terminally worried someone would like my personality in class and then expect the same energy 24/7. I kind of was my best self in classes always, so id feel I couldnt live up to it. I guess thats not exactly what you are talking about but its related because id feel how you are saying too as a result of this. When someone i knew well would join one of my classes suddenly I couldnt be my best self because I was burdened to them, and they knew my self that wasnt my "best".
Maybe its not that you feel your best in class amd its something else, like you just feel different or something. Regardless the solution is that this whole thought process or anything like it is a bunch of bullshit, but this cant really sink in online. I learned this from befriending people who just were either always themselves and when I was in a class with them would hang out with me but also would freely mingle with others and sometimes ignore me to go do their song and dance with no ill feelings. Or people who would without concern become totally different people. The common thread is both types didnt really feel any obligation towards anyone to act a certain way I guess. They didnt worry or think at all about whether x person expected y from them or if it would be weird if they suddenly switched it up. But again you sort of just have to observe people like this and see there isnt anything weird about it and put yourself in situations like your describing to realize there isnt any need to distance or alienate yourself from others preemptively and if someone starts being weird with you, you can just do it then. Hope this makes sense, it wont really help you even if it does though i dont think.

There's a girl.
And though I barely get to see her, every time I do I keep thinking about her for a couple days.
I don't even know how to approach her.
I see her at her work, so in principle I could go see her anytime I wanted.
Problem is
I am in a relationship. Which has been eroding but not to the point where I would want to leave. Quite the opposite, in fact.
I am not seeking advice or any of that.
I guess I can figure it out on my own.
I am just confused about feeling feelings for a person with whom I am unlikely to get a chance. And getting sidetracked in my relationship by such feelings. I don't want to develop, you know, "romantic" feelings for this other girl. But I can't stop thinking about her. Part of me wants to avoid her (easy, just don't go where she works), and another part wants to go and talk to her!
I guess such is life.

Not a /vent/, but recently been reading on the history of Middle East, and was shocked to realize I never knew there had been a war between Iraq and Iran in the 80s. I also didn't know some of the key motivations behind Saddam's actions. Kind of a surreal feeling to realize that not too long ago about half a million people disappeared in a perverse re-enactment of WWI trench warfare with gas and waves of child-soldiers, and you weren't even aware of it, apart from the fact that you were there to only witness the conclusion of the decades-long act with the public execution of the supposed "bad guy" (not saying he didn't do some fuarrrked up things too many times and definitely deserved what was coming to him, but at the very least he was representing the secular side who was scared soykafless by the future Khomeini's Iran and its ideology had in store for us).

i dont know its insane to me to feel this about someone you dont even talk to but i did start developing feelings for a close friend while in a relationship, said friend was not looking for any relationship and is also like 10 years older than me so there was no chance and i didnt think there was (we have even talked and laughed about this now) but it was what tipped me off that I needed to get out of the relationship I was in and it was a good decision. But I had also never really felt those feelings for my girlfriend, I just assumed I didnt feel love like that anymore because I hadnt so when I did for someone it wasnt really about the person but the fact that I could in fact feel that way about anyone and I realized I was not really in love with my girlfriend and in fact it just was safe and meant I wouldnt be alone.
again this was a close friend though not a stranger and even then I still wasnt under any delusion id like break up with my girlfriend and be with her. I knew breaking up with my girlfriend meant id be alone, but it was the right thing to do for both of us. I still love her in a different sense but i would never love her the way she loved me and was actually suffering a lot myself in said relationship. Im much happier now and have a new girlfriend who I actually do feel romantic love for.

Sorry a little add on to my reply another thing is close intimate (not just sexually but also just a general intimate) relationships have always been my escape, my comfort. whether its a girlfriend or a friend, having someone I can retreat to away from my life and just be near for a night is how I survive. So the other thing about developing feelings for my friend and also the reason they went away without much sadness once I broke up was that I was also looking for an escape from my life with my girlfriend whom i lived with. the feelings were partly just seeing my friend as this escape because I didnt see my girlfriend as one but rather the opposite (my prison). so maybe this explains why you have these feelings for someone you dont even know, its just the potentiality for an escape. To me this was also a sign to break up but it doesnt have to be for you, its just this combined with the actually feeling romantic attraction was definitely a sign I didnt want to be in the relationship I was in.

After years of studying others I have figured out how to act like one of them. Not autistic, I'm schizotypal to clarify. But it's all so empty. I don't feel that lonely, but I'd be lying if I said I actually cared about any of my friends besides one. The only person in the world I can relate to. Problem is he has false SA allegations and got socially pariahed, so bad that I will be too if I follow suit. Problem is he's the ONE good thing in my sad life besides drugs. Not even my parents love me, he's genuinely the only person who cares about me. I always stick to my beliefs but idk if I wanna trade the rest of my friends for him and be shunned by everyone. I don't wanna be that dependent on one person

If he is a good friend you should stay with him even if he becomes a pariah. Your friends can't make demands on who you associate with. That is a boundary you need to establish to others. You'll make new friends just by applying the same procedures and tactics. But making a close friend is much harder and rarer. Be there for the friend you do care about and stick with him.

No, I wanted to fuarrrk around and make some one time pads for fun and needed a good way to get numbers to work with and ended up getting a little obsessed. I wanted to be able to have messages with hex encoded ascii characters so I needed random hex encoded bytes. I kept trying to figure out different schemes to generate them relatively efficiently and drove myself a little nuts. I tried using a series of coin tosses, I tried making a loop in js to cycle through hex digits and stop with a button press, I made four sided long dice, and now I have ordinary store bought dice that I roll four at a time twice to get a random byte. I keep getting numerical soykafposts. Nice trips btw, asshole.

noise you hear on your regular mic is primarily just the electric grid frequency. Layered on top are various other frequencies from other electronics feeding back into the electric grid and EM waves causing induction on the cables. As frequencies are stable the noise is also stable.
The worst thing is if some neighbor uses adapters to send network traffic over electric wires as the data is just massive noise for everyone else.

I have rolled my dices and these are the numbers I have generated in diceware format.
66523 56632 63321 53534 53143 23266 23122 26566 26244 13632
frequencies: 6: 12, 5: 6, 4: 4, 3: 10, 2: 12, 1: 4
Supposedly random digits are skewed towards 2, 3 and 6. Further rolls that are not recorded here confirm digits 1 and 4 are far less likely to be rolled compared to other digits. I smell something fishy about these dices.
Jean Dupont · 2025-09-27 12:08
I have been rolling dice for almost an hour now and generated around three thousand digits... Here is what I have found.
Rolling dice with recessed pips (impacts weight distribution around the dice), mixing different types of dice with recessed pips, handrolling dice, and rolling onto a soft surface reduce uniformity in digits.
Best uniformity is reached when you use dice with flush pips, shake the dice inside a hard container and roll onto a hard surface.
Technician · 2025-09-27 12:21
>>93936
I've learned to control coin flips to get the result i want with 99% accuracy (sometimes finger fumble). I believe manual dice throwing will follow the same principle. Even subconsciously you will have some pattern in how you throw which will reflect in the resulting distribution. Container throws on hard surface randomize it better since it removes your hand motion somewhat but you can probably also learn how to get manipulated results if you try.
Pris · 2025-09-27 12:35
>>93937
It would be extremely difficult to manipulate results if you are shaking the dice inside a hard container but for good measure I have been shaking them in samba motion. Up, down, forward, backward, left, right. All 6 surfaces of the cube are accounted for. It would be extremely impressive if someone can mess this up.
I have also done some napkin map to roughly calculate the cryptographic strength for diceware passwords. log_2(6^5) = 12 bits of entropy for each word. With 11 words you can reach roughly 128 bit security. If 256 bit security is desired you could just double the number of words to 22.

I do feel a certain loneliness and disconnection because human psychology and culture is genuinely foreign to me. Repeated interactions between a succubus and a man will lead to sexual activity, a bond forming between them, and ultimately sexual intercourse, as she requires semen to survive. The establishment and perpetuation of such a relationship enables the production of a hybrid offspring known as a cambion, but at the expense of the man, whose mental and physical health will deteriorate rapidly, eventually resulting in his death if the succubus continues courting him for a protracted period.

I have been neeting for 10+ years. I finished a mechanical engineering degree back in 2014, but I never even attempted to get a job and slowly learned webdev by watching youtube tutorials and goofing around on my own in these 10 years. Meanwhile, my parents got tired of me neeting and kept making calls to anyone they knew to get me a job somewhere.
Lately I have been in talks with an old uni friend who wants to get into the IT/Dev field and wants me to join him and start an IT consultancy company.
Except that, the same day we agreed to do it, I get an offer from a distant family member. He's basically working in a factory and basically talked everyone, included execs, into nepo hiring me as a mechanical engineer. I will have plenty of responsibilities there, even though it's been 10 years since I last read anything about mechanical engineering, but this is a once in a lifetime offer since no one will hire a guy with a 10 years gap in his resume.
What would you lains do? Not even showing up or calling the guy to tell him that I can't show up would ruin whatever rep he has left since he fought tooth and nail to get me in. Meanwhile am mostly interested in working with my friend even though it won't pay soykaf and it will just be a continuation of neetdom until we actually contract clients and soykaf.

You clearly believe the engineering gig is the best choice. It absolutely is. Plus if it doesn't work out, you might be able to walk into your friend's company. The opposite is not true.
It's best to seek stability for yourself. Are your parents old? How many more years can you mooch off them? If you reject this job opportunity, would they keep tolerating you or finally decide you need to fly on your own?
Furthermore, do you think webdev is safe in AI age? As much as I don't like this junk, you have to face the unpleasant reality that webdev in particular is only shrinking. At the very worst, engineering workforce will shrink considerably less, but I think the impact would only be minor if at all.
I'm kind of annoyed an overgrown child like you can be handed an opportunity like this, and you can even think about it. You didn't work hard, didn't prostrate yourself through the miserable process of networking, it's literally being handed to you. You don't deserve this job at all, it should go to a graduate who cares about their career. Not saying you shouldn't take it though.
