Do men desire to be hypnotized?
Nell · 2025-08-05 15:46
Subject, basically. Is life simply a tension between facing reality and descending into fantasy? Women are very good at using indirective, suggestive, hypnotic language. Physical contact has an effect. They're good at speaking to the subconscious covertly.
It seems then that men are designed to be hypnotized, that this is how bonding works. Women trace out and displace or otherwise "convince" and subdue his anima, then take on some of its functions in an external sense. No matter what the relationship dynamic is, could it be said to be based on hypnosis? And on some level a man wants to believe in her and the "Shared fantasy", no different than children pretending and playing a game. Because women are a symbol of Earth itself, consummation with a woman is consummation with existence and The World itself. If he does this, then to return to the oceanic state of the womb, he may find it easier to outsource the functions of his Anima to her.
And this is the way it's all designed. We're not talking matriarchial mega simp zone here where he thinks he's in control but she's invisibly scripting the days ahead. But... watching how things play out. Maybe to an extent.

most men want control, I think most women want to be controlled.
I believe women are actually statistically more likely to be receptive to hypnosis, suggestion and psychological influence.

I would first assume the same, but I'm not so sure. I think women may be more susceptible to the type of hypnosis and peer based suggestion (eg consensus reality and conformity signaling) formalized by the ancient Medes (from Media), such as having people look up and stare into a bright light (Pharaoh comes out on a raised platform with the sun at his back), later formally resurrected by the English hypnotist Braid. Simply because if they're up against a threatening thing, it's apt to be male, and taller than her, so she looks up, goes into a trance, and submits to him for survival. In men this is diminished because they're just as apt to castrate or kill you, so that childlike response is layered over in development. However I think men are still highly suggestible by women, especially if they ar elike his mother. Perhaps men who are like the father as well, depending.

To truly be in love and for it to be reciprocated (i.e. to have a big tiddy goth gf) is to be in a trance. Is the nicest feeling: its soothing, comforting, relaxing. You are basically hypnotized by someone's very own existence at your side.
Even if given social, biological, neurological or metaphysical explanations for the feeling, when it hits you it's practically irrational.
Every search for love is a search to be hypnotized. Kissing, hugging, fuarrrking, saying sweet nothings into eachother ears are the pendulum you swing to your partner and to yourself.
If this is used ethically or not is another debate.

Oxytocin is a trip but depending on certain traits (previous exposure, embedded trauma, general propensity for rationalization) it's not that powerful. It is not quite so hypnotic in the case of men as it is in the case of women. A woman in love is a tragic thing.
As for the general topic of the thread any susceptibility to hypnosis in men is at best put as a sort of test or matter to overcome in the path to individuation and solid anarchy. Deterritorialization of the mind is yet another thing man has to fight against desu

The only acceptable hypnosis is watching the woman's curves and her suggestively slowly undulating before my own very eyes for the pure satisfaction of my deepest carnal pleasures. That's what hypnotizing and it's all for the very important and venerable male gaze.

Men are most hypnotized by other men, obsession with masculinity is simply a response to wanting to suck dick so bad. This is why men love and worship authoritarian leaders.

Allow me to correct you.
All humans are social creatures trying to fit in the world they live in. Women, in a large part, goes with what is perceived as the norm, men, in a large part adapt to what society require from them to find their place.
Before the pill and abortion, women didn't wanted anything to do with men who can't secure them a good life and who don't show signs of commitment.
Be husband material or stay dry.
I don't have to tell you how far this will get you today. Now, the insensitive are different, and you don't do what your grandfather would have done because, like grandpa, you are trying to get wet but it take a different path.
And now women complain that the good men are gone. As if we had a choice.
Don't think that women are immune form this dynamic. They are human, i assure you.

I think I'd prefer to view this in terms of tuning.
Hypnosis is basically increasing correspondence (in thought, in action, whatever) between the influence and the influencer.
All systems attune to environment, and all attunements are fit for specific contexts. And when you lift an attumenent and successfully exploit it in a different context (where the entity may or may not profit too), you profit, even though the attunement itself is none the wiser.
Things vary in the degree to which they reflect other things. There are reflection optima.
The brain, being by substance able to reflect (or reject) everything out there, shows the greatest reflection-variation out there, but all adaptive systems exhibit it.

Learning about the world generally may be considered "being hypnotized" by the environment, submitting to it. When we learn, we align to the thing we learn. And when we feel skeptical, that is also a yielding of ourselves to the evolved drive of rejecting some data. Both drives, to submit and to countersubmit, are essentially same in nature.
Or maybe I am saying nonsense.

Men dont sit with feelings and are encouraged to find the fastest route possible to eradicate unpleasent feelings especially sadness. IE after a breakup instead of recognizing your in pain you wish things went different imagining what went wrong they immediately jump to "fuarrrk that bitch shes making me feel all this" and transfer it to anger and take out that anger somewhere. Women can do this too but on average.
Meaning even a man whos been through the same amount of losses and traumas as a woman has 0 experiences learning from them instead its all directed outwards about the nature of women or the world and there is no insight about the nature of you, what feelings motivate you, what you are seeking. Not every man endlessly simps over women this is not a universal, there is likely a reason you do. If you could think about the first time you felt that longing you would have a much more direct answer as to why you keep trying to recreate it. But its probably hidden from you by now, whatever was lost or whatever connection is missing was not thought about at the time because you were a boy and boys got soykaf to do and maybe mom would be upset if she saw you moping around so who do you turn to or whatever else.
The only scripting thats going on with women is in the same way when you talk to a bad liar and know every time they are lying even when they dont think they are lying so you dont need to really call them out you just work around them. They think they have everyone fooled and they are a certain type of person but really everyones just dragging them along. This is how women see the average man, what they verbalize the problems are or whats going on with them clearly arent what they are actually saying, but not even the man knows this. Making it incredibly easy to string a man along by hitting at his actual feelings and motivations that are clearly visible to all but him. For some women this provides a sense of comfort and stability, they can figure you out all day but you cant figure them out. They wouldnt want to date someone who isnt like this because its too vulnerable and risky if the man can see through them the same way. Pick your poison, but if you look at what im saying as a bunch of "feminist babble" and say im just describing the actually masculinr man or something you will always be the little one who thinks he has an equal or worse thinks hes in charge.

Me too anon. I feel this very intensely. It comes up a lot nowadays, but never has whenever I've been in a relationship.
Netrunner · 2025-10-27 12:36
The mind doesn't care about our desires, it will learn from whatever experience it gets and adjust its behavior accordingly.
If women inherently realize that making a certain mind repeatedly experience a banana together with whatever they wish it to like, well, good for them.
Spooky · 2025-10-27 13:01
>do men want to be hypnotized?
Yeah, just like women. I'd say that women wants to be fooled/tricked, another type of hypnosis. What are social artists? Tricksters, right? And they get a lot of poontang, because of that. But all of that is just another silly attempt to generalize people's behavior, so allow me to do it further.
It's merely cultural, men and women are all spoiled humans living in a civilized world, where they want to be entertained all the time. A lot of silly hairless monkeys with a stick up their butts demanding: "amuse me". They were trained to expect trickery and pretty shiny whatevers, and you better be good at it. Just shows what a huge waste of time and resources human life became throughout history, there's no point to it anymore, pragmatically speaking. There is no actual goal anymore.
All of these mechanisms runs loosely because normally there is no individual effort to become conscious of these things. If you observe your patterns, learned or not, stemming from emotions or from thoughts, you may gain control over it. It you can't control it (aka use), there is no reason for it to exist (in your/my life). A better thread:
>do men want control?
The answer is yes. A thousand times yes and I hate everything I don't have control over because they're all potential threats to my existence, dignity, freedom and integrity. This is the only honest answer.

I think you're misunderstanding what I mean. I'm not describing outright somnambulism, ie the Hollywood-esque swinging pendulum "you are feeling very sleepy ooo ahh oo..." where they go intoa trance, I mean diminished control over higher order behaviors due to a channel of fairly direct communication being opened with the unconscious mind. Whether that be ritualized, symbolic, verbal (innuendo and doublespeak), or otherwise. You can think of this like the way children play pretend. A concept or story is established and the unconscious minds of the man and woman convince each other to enter a "shared fantasy space". And that this process is its secret desire, as the anima and unconscious aspects have no presence in the world and are rarely "seen" or spoken to directly. So the conscious mind allows itself to be lulled somewhat.
At no point would you feel like you have given away control. In fact, you would be convinced to feel the inverse. That your decisions and thoughts are of the most fundamental and well founded basis, that they have great meaning, and are engaging, and so on. Even if you were aware of the "on rails" sensation, you would see no reason to break from it. If you walk down train tracks, does choose to remain walking between the lines make you feel "controlled"? When you drive a car, do you feel "controlled" when you don't choose to drive off into a field? Or go down some road that isn't your ordinary route. One does not. It appears sensible, even mundane.

>I mean diminished control over higher order behaviors due to a channel of fairly direct communication being opened with the unconscious mind
I think what we're only using different terms and abstraction to describe the same process, also I don't believe this only applies to men, this is mutual and it happens with every single human being. One could say a man likes to be hypnotized or that a woman likes to be tricked. It's irrelevant, truly. I believe that this is the same mechanism. I understand what you're saying and I agree that the phenomenon is very real...this sort of vulnerability (as I like to see) is expected from both parties, you can't open communication without opening something. The one casting the spell or sending the message needs this openness from the target, an openness that could be achieved by an infinity of variables (conscious interest, archetypal pairing, complexes, etc.). Ideally, it would be achieved mutually, but often is not. Maybe this is chosen over direct message because people can't listen to their emotions, and in a lot of cases, their desires, kinks and hidden interests using structured language. IMO, because people are subjected to a culture that doesn't value self-knowledge, and because people are complacent enough to just accept it.
Hence, the impression that one expects this sort of "hypnotic" interaction in order to achieve something related to "spontaneous" human interaction, whether it's romantic or not. My argument is that this absolutely exists, but also that it only exists because direct language, the only one that could be controlled consciously by an intelligent being and subjected to logic, is underrated and taken as being lame (where's the "chemistry"/mystery?) and unreliable (because anyone can fake it). A lot of it is about the so-called "chemistry", and it's expected from both parties. But from what you are describing, I think we feel this situation differently. I'm more inclined to rant about how we can't use direct, controllable, predictable language just because most people wants the thrill of the unclear hypnotic inscrutable language (involved in this sort of social charming) and they pretend to believe it's something magical or a novelty because of the chemistry/neurotransmitters dynamic involved, or that it could be somehow more reliable than direct verbal communication, a structured mechanism created with the very purpose of giving transparency to the communication. Which I think it's abhorrent and a voluntary descent to confusing interactions.

Unrelated answer from a random:
>When you drive a car, do you feel "controlled" when you don't choose to drive off into a field?
What if. What if a fella lacks freedom the point a desire to spend an hour or two in a field emerges? Mental fatigue, you know.
There is a field I just keep forgetting to visit for Nth year already. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN EXTRA COZY to grab some drinks and visit that abandonned field>

I would not call that hypnotizing. Men and women desire to be accepted, women a lot more as they depend on it and men have a built in desire to be pleasant to women. This desire have been abused and have lead to the simping industry.
It have been turned as a flaw, a weakness that men now repress as they begin to hate women.
I understand why you want to be conquered by a woman, I am a man as well, but women want men they can rely on, who are stronger than them and will keep them safe from the outside world and the chaos inside them.
