What is the best way to liberate yourself from the delusion that things will get better?

>the delusion
Things WILL get better, but only if you stop sitting around drowning in self pity and move your arse in the right direction

You havent laid out any backgrouns info like things you've tried, your backstory coming into this problem, etc. Why should any of us give a soykaf and think this is anything besides a demoralization bait thread.

I wasn't asking for help or anything. I asked plainly, how do you become hopeless? That is what I am seeking to know, i don't want phony help.

you already clearly are if you are calling thinking things will get better is a delusion, that is being hopeless. maybe what's going on is that you believe that you think you keep falling into the trap of "things will get better" but its actually more like a complex where you set yourself up to think something will get better without any reason or effort to make it so, so that you can then go "see i fuarrrking knew it everything is hopeless why do i get my hopes up" and continue to not do whatever it is you are avoiding or feel you cant do that would actually make things better.
im not really saying this as an insult but unless you are asking this for a friend what you are saying here sounds like the sort of thing id hear from someone who is doing the above. your brain is smarter than you are consciously aware of and if you hold the conscious belief that hope is a delusion it will line up the dominoes for you to reinforce that by making you place hope in things that won't happen or are outside your control. As well as cause these things to take way way more priority in your brain over the things that go right to the point you likely don't even recognize them.
This thread is actually a good example of something you I think deep down you totally knew would not go over well or not result in the response you want and then you decided to post anyways so you can get frustrated at it and stay in the negative feedback loop you are used to where everything goes wrong.

I don't need armchair psychology. I don't want to get into details about anything because it would distract from the main point. I just lost a online friend who I just gained, and it was the first time i had had a online friend in years. I wouldn't have gotten that online friend if i never had hope in the first place. There is other soykaf too but like i said, i don't want to get too into details. But I have recently been in numerous other situations where i would be better if i didn't have hope. I even drew this crudly drawn graph explaining my situation

its not armchair psychology im not pulling from some text and im not saying words like "conscious" or "delusion" in some kind of grand psych sense im saying you are already hopeless because you sit here and draw graphs of how hopeless you are and dismiss any insight or different perspective into your situation and come up with overdramatic single minded solutions to very normal bad experiences like "this would have never happened if I had no hope...". That is response number 50000 to losing a friend you had to reject a million other responses and solutions to end up at the most sappingly depressing one you could.
You have no idea what you need, if i wrote a list of everything you need and everything you avoid or dismiss (such as help) it would be the same list.

>dismiss any insight or different perspective
Brother i had that perspective for years. Pretty much any time i mention this soykaf i hear the same thing. I dismiss it because it didn't work out. There's nothing wrong with admitting that things don't always work out, thats just how life is.

The best way is the way of the Buddha. Practice the Dharma and free yourself from both hope and fear.

Then you may not have found the right direction yet.
It takes a lot, and i really mean a lot of thinking, to find it and then figure out how to disassemble the big goal into steps small enough, so dont believe you have everything figured out

I considered mentioning this instead of simply flat out denying OP but i dont think anything in the buddhist canon is about freeing yourself from hope thats just stretching the meaning a bit of freeing yourself from expectations and desire.
Being hopeless is just having the expectation that things will go wrong. I think a lot of people confuse this with being zen or something like "expect things to go wrong and then only good things can happen" but really expecting things to go wrong just causes you to lose your balance and lose sight of anything going right.

It didnt work out because you weren't actually listening or understanding, there isnt a scenario where im going to affirm you in this (probably). Most people especially here have also had your perspective for years, and reflecting back realize we were not actually listening to anyone and see it as an insufferable time. We can all play this "i used to think like u dude but then so many bad things happened... im just so fuarrrked up.." game. In that time bonding over how much things suck or how depressed i am or how much I want to die was never helpful and thats why no one is offering that to you. So i guess thats that. There is a number of things if you expressed you were sad or hurting about id feel for you on but there isnt anything you have thay you could tell me where im going to go "Oh soykaf yeah man you do need to become more hopeless".

By realizing that the society is destined to fail, but the individual is not.

being able to differentiate yourself from the abstract world you seemingly participate in, the patterns between your own life in terms of ,going outside' and what is said about society or your community in the news, etc. is obviously important. its true that your wellbeing doesnt need to be a part of the ,,things that are going badly"... but you dwell still in social abstracts. The Individual is not you, and one can just as easily make the argument that The Individual *is* set up to fail, that we live in an antithetical world to It, and that its core purpose - to overcome and celebrate victory - is akin to a liminal treadmill of productivity, or to extract social participation and enablement of the society's failure.

all we really know is that things will change. whether the change is better or worse depends on the person. entropy always increases, so things naturally become more disordered on the largest scale. but things can spontaneously become more ordered locally. nothing lasts, and things usually get worse, but sometimes they get better.

Read Jünger (Forest Passage, Eumeswil) and Baudrillard (Symbolic Exchange and Death, Fatal Strategies, Impossible Exchange). Walk in the world and feel nothing but an empathy-rooted disgust for those around you. Walk among trees and feel fear and awe. Hopelessness need not inspire despondency.

You just don't give a fuarrrk. Life is like kicking dead whales down the beach, wear a hat. it has sucked before and it will suck after.

Online friends aren't friends. Listen, I don't have friends, Internet or otherwise, you learn to grow out of being affraid of the bad social position it give you. Live for yourself, not to fit into the expectations others have made for you.

Holy soykaf, fp is a retard or underage, probably retarded though. I like what Heidegger says on this matter. Our state of being is rooted in helplessness and that everything is like kicking dead whales down the beach, but that is part of the truth that we can walk into and be illuminated by. It is a truth of our place in the world and that acknowledging this truth allows for us to acknowledge a part of our existence that is true. We can't use the world and its beings to free us from this helplessness that we find ourselves to be in, the only thing is to acknowledge it. When this is acknowledged we can stop reducing things as object to try and relinquish our pain, rather we can exist with these beings and see them as their own beings who are in the world as well. These things exist in an inescapable land of torture as your perception of yourself does. The real stuff begins when you can acknowledge this and accept the unknown of what is presented before us, not as a subject to an object in front of us, but as one within this same sphere of beingness and relinquish our desire to rid our anxiety in place of actually acknowledging our being within the world and its beings itself. The uncertainty of everything is what keeps things fresh and meaningful for us.

You accept it and find a way to be happy (enough) anyway. One remedy for this exact problem is zen buddhism. It works for me because it has the least amount of bullshit of the ones I've looked into. There are probably many other good remedies. Find one that works for you.
