This is something that has been bothering me for a while and I can't quite put it into thoughts and don't even know what kind of answer I am expecting.
It's how life is full of "magical" experiences while we are held back by physics and our bodies from experiencing it fully.
It looks like at the core life is about genes combining through reproduction and pleasure and pain are merely there to motivate/demotivate behavior.
Yet life now is more complex and it feels like the beauty/pleasure you can experience is on a higher level than animalistic desires. Like experiencing a great piece of art that touches you deeply. But you might miss out on an amazing art installation because you were not aware of it or you can't afford to travel. Or someone with only 1 eye will never experience the wonders of VR or someone blind will never experience any visual beauty. There are many more examples but all of this makes me think too much about all these things I missed out on rather than be practical about life. It makes me consider religion but then all the religions seem so silly and everything seems to be logically explainable somehow. Yet still there is this magical feeling that makes me doubt everything. Is "qualia" the right term for it?
All these possible experiences are "floating" out there but every "soul", person, consciousness will only experience a limited amount which also prevents them from fully appreciating it. Like how we can feel sad despite living a better and richer life than people way in the past.
I wonder if I am actually a "soul" tragically deprived of great experiences arbitrarily or if I am just a complex organism feeling desire to motivate me and my sadness is not too different from that of an animal only with more steps.

What do you mean by magic? Do you mean some ineffable beauty or romantic sensation you are drawn to? Or do you mean a sense that there are paranormal forces that makes the materialist anti-super-natural worldview feel wrong?
As for missing out, think of the experiences you have had, no matter how small, that others didn't experience. Sure, a blind man might not get to experience VR, but he might appreciate and enjoy the feeling touch during sex or music more intensely than somebody who sees.
If things are so fleeting, should we even desire them in the first place? What use is there chasing after something you can't have? And if the idea is to enjoy life to its fullest, hasn't desire caused suffering to us in more ways than one? You are mortal and therefore can't experience everything. If that thought troubles you (and it should), the problem is your insatiable id brushing up against your physical limits. Life is transitory, there is nothing you can do about that. Enjoy it while it lasts but don't hold onto it or panic about not having done this or that.

In zen, physical reality is an illusion, and "enlightenment" is unexplainable in words or rational ideas. Unlike religion, it has very little supernatural nonsense. Mystical, yes, supernatural, no, It seemed a little bit relevant to this thread, so I thought I would mention it.

I've been thinking about how there exists that would be my favorite album ever, affecting my life and outlook on music in ways like never before, but I will never hear this album. It's probably out there right now, I just need to know the right combination of buttons to press in the right order on my keyboard and it will appear, but I don't know the combination. This is sad.

Yeah, I have sometimes thought to myself that music is my religion. Most of it is crap like anything else, but once in a while you hear something that just takes you away into a world of inexplicable beautiful emotions.

The fear of missing out is something I think a lot of people feel. But the world is as big or small as you make it. I am reminded of the movie It's a Wonderful Life. It is near Christmas, after all. Sometimes when you "miss out" you discover things here and there that you never would've thought to look for. And there are so many things that wouldn't have been seen without you.

I know its probably not what you ask abou but heres my two cents on the matter: life is weird, there are unexplainable strange things happening all around us, we dont usually notice or see them but trust me it they do.
The world isnt what people think/say it is that much is for sure to me.
Sure there is some logic of some kind behind it all, but sometimes things arrange themselfs in such a strange way to just leave you baffled.
Maybe not so much an anwser that you seek but i think its worth pondering about.
