im a 19.5 years old guy from egypt, currently my status is kinds fuarrrked my family (parents) is now fighting a lot more than usual and thereis a rising amount of conflict than usual between each other, we are generally a broke family making around less than $150 a month and we barely get by ive been trying to find ways to make money online by any means, ive tied doing p2p trading of crypto and such, freelancing some time video editing small edits for friends, and made a couple youtube videos, they mostly did eh (25k views for a short psychedelic femtanyl edit) i recently got a new card that works with paypal and trust me getting a working credit/debit card to link with paypal in my country is a massive PITA due to strict regulations on what you can and cant buy online, but i have found out that there isnt really that much use of it due to me not figuring out a way to get a steady stream of income, any income im tired of being a leech off of my family's money, i dont want to sit down and watch my family crumble, i dont know what to do, the only thing im moderately good at is video editing and that requires a decent ish computer, and mine is an old laptop from 2014 that cant barely run windows 10 ltsc or davinci resolve in that matter what should i do? what kind of starting point can i get to to make SOMETHING, anything, even if its 1$/hr its still a decent chunk overtime for someone like me right now my goal is to upgrade my laptop to something that can handle windows an davinci resolve for better video editing cuz it struggles to scrub even a 720p video with proxies, and yes ive tried linux mint and other distros, davinci doesnt work and even when i did get it to work it was even slower and it didnt work with mp4s or mp3s i need assistance asap, im not begging for anything i just wanna be set on the right track for once cuz i never got to decide on anything and be consistent in it for most of my life

maybe start with commission video editing? if you aren't doing it already. i feel like you can probably develop this into a career, 25k is not a small amount of views for a first or early youtube videos. i actually might still be in touch with the emmy award winning egyption videographer if you want me to try get them in touch for you. i know a brazilian guy who does this too

>>84647 using linux with a toaster is a complete mistake, you can't do anything great on it unless it's at least above mid-range GTX or an RTX with nvidia-open support (like really modern ones) or a modern amd ryzen gpu combo which I think don't exist at 2014. I think that your problem with mp4s or mp3s is the lack of codec "encode" support for your particular GPU drivers and you might require to use nvidia-legacy drivers if it's that old. Though I think you could get by with say a used 2014 desktop workstation or higher (assuming it supports 75watts stock pcie) and slapping in a xeon cpu and a somewhat decent nvidia 1650, or maybe look for a laptop with mobile rtx gpu. now technical stuff aside you could look into your (1) 16 year old self and see what you really wanted to do at that point and age and try to pick up things from there. (3) finally you should have a journal to keep track of progress. it's a great thing. if there is anything I regretted in the past few years it would be that I kept forgetting to do journals consistently.

Assume two years at least to get a decent followers count if you start a let's play. That said, being strictly Edgy might allow you to enjoy the advantage of not competing against others. A solution is also networks. You really need to meet people and see those who have means and money, and talk about your projects and desires. You must get out and really go find people, there's no big secret here, you're rotting in place without no opening otherwise.

You are university age so just use university pc room. CS department should have some decent ones for gpu programming that could easily render anything.

Unironically your best starting point is probably to just get some bullshit unskilled job while you figure things out, then decide if you want to go to university/trade school or whatever. That's what I did when I was 18 and now I'm 23 and doing ok
