Ted Kaczynski – misunderstood?

William Holtzer · 2024-10-08 02:35
So basically what this guy was saying is that humans in general would be happier if we struggled for survival like the "natural order of things" intended for it to be. No evidence for the statement provided, of cource. And it is my educated guess that the primary reason for why he thought that is that he just hated and resented his surroundings and nothing more. He wasn't as much of a genius as people think of him. What he says in his manifesto is pretty straightforward and easy to understand, in fact, I have just given you a quick summery of the main idea behind it leaving all the details behind. And no, you won't find any explanation nor arguments for why abolishing technology completely is the best way to solve all the problems which he kinda correctly identified. You know, cos there is none  . He layed out bullet points, straightforward stated facts that you can't disagree with and then inserted the claim lacking any substantial evidence for why it is the best cource of action we can possibly take to solve the problems that he correctly pointed out. Imagine the guy that says "oh you know what? I hate electricity, because some dude once got electrocuted shoving his fingers in the socket when he was 5. We should abolish electricity".
Tyrell Wellick · 2024-10-08 04:39
There is a part in ISAIF that talks about localized technology, he never advocated the total abolition of technology, he also has two other books Anti-Tech Revolution volumes 1 & 2. He provided evidence for a natural life being more fulfilling with his mentions of indigenous tribes. Does this mean that realistically the whole world can agree to stop using technology in a malignant way? No. But he never said that either and conceded that only a minority of intelligent people would likely think as he did and try to lead a revolution against this current technological society. Yet still, I don't think his vision could ever manifest itself at a global scale, I think human psychology predisposes us to allow ourselves to be enslaved by a parasite class, and as new technologies are created they will be used by that parasite class to control us and shape us into what they want us to be. Your post reads like a smug 14 year old who watched a youtube synopsis of ISAIF/Ted Kaczynski.

>>84444 >evidence Such as? Symbol count symbol count
Ender · 2024-10-08 06:23
He was a crazy terrorist who sent bombs to mostly innocent people through mail. What did you expect???
Emmanuel · 2024-10-08 06:58
>>84446 He speaks of this in 'Disruption of the power process in modern society' which begins on paragraph 59, since I have to spoonfeed you now. Your issue seems to be that he only made axiomatic statements in regards to tribes living primitive lifestyles having more fulfilling lives, and did not provide qualitative or quantitative evidence for this. It is a manifesto, these don't tend to provide you with a meta-analysis report for every claim they make. You can easily find the evidence on your own if you research the lives of primitive peoples, there have been studies into their health, philosophies on life, and fear of death (usually diminished). If you want to disregard the entire manifesto because he didn't provide actual studies, go ahead.
Nameless · 2024-10-08 09:26
>>84444 >I think human psychology predisposes us to allow ourselves to be enslaved by a parasite class, Vast majority of humans will always be controlled, irrespective of time period. This isn't something new. People just want to choose lesser evil or something that brings them more comfort and in this case it's better to be enslaved in technological time period instead of some artificial primitive ones.
Jet Black · 2024-10-08 13:14
Maybe he had autism and was overstimulated by the noise and lights and social connectivity of the modern world.
Zhora · 2024-10-13 08:20
>>84443 They did things to his personality, attacks on his consciousness. He came out of it damaged. That's the story, never verified AFAIK. The message is just one notch removed from go monke. It's nothing to write home about aside from the fact that he killed people instead of writing some fictions to put his ideas into some kind of structured narrative canvas and attract people that way.
J.C. Denton · 2024-10-13 08:43
Ted Kaczynski was an insane asshole who thought it was a good idea to kill and maim innocent people to promote his ideology. Whatever his ideology was, he turned people against it. I'm glad he's dead. And every other asshole terrorist.
Incognito · 2024-10-13 12:25
>>84531 Terrorist is just anyone the state doesn't approve even if literally no terror is caused. The title in itself is completely meaningless so don't reject people and groups just because the state told you to. I'm not talking about Ted here though.
Joey · 2024-10-13 12:34
The lore is he was normal but then glowies messed with his head as part of an psych experiment and then he went "technology is evil and progressing to even darker path, we must kill the core people involved to halt tech progress" that failed naturally cause his civilian ass had no skills for murdering people.
Boris Grishenko · 2024-10-13 12:45
>>84537 >his civilian ass had no skills for murdering people. He evaded capture for 20 years or something, and was pretty good at making bombs, but no amount of killing is gonna stop technological progress anyway, which is quite similar to as he described how small changes in the system would always go back to whatever is more beneficial for it

>>84539 brenton tarrant killed more people in two hours anders brevik killed more people in two hours I could kill more people in two hours yes he killed people but he was not that effective and in the end he still was caught and could not save his valley either

Mitnick · 2024-10-13 21:54
>>84443 He wrote more than just his "manifesto". 'Anti-Tech Revolution: Why and How' was published in 2016 and i found it to be very insightful
Agent Jones · 2024-10-13 22:42
"It was written by an insane murderer" isn't one of the criteria for what I choose to read. And even if I read it, I'd be thinking, "Yeah, but it was written by an insane murderer." Probably not one of the best ways to promote an ideology to anyone other than edgy schizo retards.
John Rain · 2024-10-13 22:48
>>84444 Honestly, tribal living but if you get an infection or some soykaf you go to the technology zone to get treated doesn't sound bad. Society can't run in an intentional way though, every attempt throughout history has failed.
H.R. Giger · 2024-10-13 23:01
>>84537 I don't know, honestly. Glowies turned him violent for sure, but I think a man like that had no hope of ever being normal. Imagine if instead of 50s soykaf he grew up with AI brainrot and gooning.
Technician · 2024-10-15 03:33
>>84571 Look at yourself and question what you are even saying. Why do you even think he is insane? You dont even know him. Just because he killed people? The state kills people every day. Because his lifestyle was abnormal? You have been programmed by society to react the way you are. A quote from him: "The reason why the system teaches us to be horrified at violence is that violence of any kind is dangerous to the system. The system requires order above all; it needs people who are docile and obedient and don't make trouble"
Special Agent Bob · 2024-10-15 04:18
>>84603 > violence of any kind is dangerous to the system. Lmao what. The system is maintained through violence. What dumbass made this quotable quote? >Just because he killed people? The state kills people every day. If it's bad when the state does it, then why is it ok when the individual does it? I am not too far removed from one of the unabonber's victims. They didn't deserve what they got.
Roger Pollack · 2024-10-15 09:29
>>84604 >What dumbass made this quotable quote? Ted Kaczynski. He wasn't a dumbass but he did have drug induced brain damage. It might also make more sense what he meant with the full context. >The system is maintained through violence. There is no escaping that simple truth. And it's not just direct state violence. There is plenty of indirect violence in the form of crime that the state refuses to stop and also won't let you defend yourself against.
Dujour · 2024-10-16 03:22
>>84569 Lol I barely read his stuff because the little I read is so bland and cliché. His whole added value is he killed people for marketing purposes. You got to be really retarded to fall for this and decide upon reading a book because one loon went bombing joker to sell "his" nothing new ideas. That's really gay.
Netrunner · 2024-11-29 15:53
He was undoubtedly and sadly mentally unwell, so he was evidently misunderstood too, specially if you remember he was also a child prodigy and doctorate mathematician - seriously, what's less understood than an unstable brainiac? He was extremist despite having certainly some true on their points - despite how, obviously, he shall exaggerated. Definitively a prodigious mind who turned into a choleric terrorist with radical views - both interesting to read or study on, either his singular storyline and arguments against a possible overindustrialized world and their chaotic destiny.
Naomi Nascimento · 2024-11-30 14:12
Dr. Ted was right about the unintended consequences of technology. E.g., Climate Change (pic related)
Nobody special · 2024-12-01 05:08
>>84572 It does exist. Honest question: why haven't Ted just joined them?
Joe Bloggs · 2024-12-16 03:05
>>84629 Retard, his ideas are more talked about in general because of the killings, resulting in more people hearing about it. No one is reading him just because he killed people.
Aristóteles Amadópulus · 2024-12-16 05:25
I read an interesting piece about how he went crazy, written in his own words. It isn't that lie you hear about some government agency driving him crazy. That's pure bullshit. What actually happened is he had a lot of sexual deviancy issues about imagining he was a woman. That's how he got off. And it bothered him a lot, so he went to a psychiatrist; He *almost* told the psychiatrist about it, but stopped short and just said some other stuff. He wrote that when he left the psychiatrist's office and realized how close he came to admitting his real problems, he had a complete change of personality. He wanted to kill the psychiatrist. And he wanted to pretty much destroy everything. In other words, he had a mental breakdown over his sexual problems and almost outing himself about them. The rest is history.
