Mint is currently positioning itself as the cheapest "anti-authoritarian" libbyesque isp T-Mobile-running platform that went down to just 15/ month. That's suspicious, how do they get the money? Do they sell data?

and additionally, why is T-Mobile's internet so sh1t?

It doesn't inherently mean they are selling data. It's just a reseller. Like similar companies they buy from the main cell providers in bulk, this case T mobile and they sell that back to consumers. The internet connection is slowed down, video streams quality is automatically reduced and service priority goes to the main providers so if you are in a dense area you will have slow connections when a lot of T mobile users are on at once. Mint also does not offer monthly payments, their lowest tier is once every three months so it is actually $45 once every three months and to get that price you have to lock in to an even longer period, it's all in the fine print on their website. T mobile is the least worse out of the main providers in the US in that their data retention period is shorter and they do not have an IMEI whitelist check ive heard so they dont stop you from using whatever phone you want so long as it has the proper bands supported. There is several resellers that are in close to same price range and you actually get similar prices with long term contract plans from main providers. T mobile is the last foreign majority owned company left in the US via a company in Germany after Sprint which was a Japanese company shut down and this also likely relates to prices being pretty low because every reseller with low prices use T Mobile so that can't be coincidence.
