Helping thread

I make this thread because even if i myself have beaten depression, i do give a damn about all the suffering souls out there that are still in the throes of it. So this is today's little hope rebellion: you can vent, confess, but most importantly share methods you've found to alleviate, punch back, repel the depression back to its little hidey-hole (a.k.a cuck hole which is where depression hides) You can share stuff that makes you happy, like art, games, music, stuff that gets you pumped; things you find beautiful or make you positively nostalgic... Share stuff you're proud of, your success stories, who cares if they're small things! OP making this thread because he saw a cute girl at the store who looked so lethargic, so crestfallingly depressed in retrospect i should have told her she's cute even if it's cringe. Then i remembered there are so many out there that are unhappy like that. I've been there, so if i can help, that's good.

In my belief system, solve et coagula ad infinitam, meaning no matter what your conflict is, eventually it will be resolved. But still it is good to help a suffering soul. When i was depressed, i found that what really helped was to get warm food in. Spicy is better. And to really sleep when tired, as well as clean myself. A lot of people starkly underestimate showers! They don't just cleanse your body, they cleanse your soul. Do you know DANCE WITH THE DEAD? an ironic band name! https://invidio.us/watch?v=Mmx5LAyjPMQ I'd listen to it while i play 20minutes till dawn.

Thanks for making this thread. You have a good heart. One thing that helps me is being careful not to dwell on negative thoughts and memories. I figured out that while you can't control how you feel directly, you can control what you think about, and that has a big effect on how you feel. So every time I catch some negative thought or memory trying to sneak in, I eject it and think about something else. It really seems to help. Also, trying to help other people helps you, too. Some of my best memories are about times I was able to help someone else.

>>82005 Absolutely! It sounds so dumb, "oh just try not being sad" but it works! You have a tiger that lives in the light and a tiger that lives in the darkness. Which ones lives? The one you feed. If you're feeding your mental energy to your problems and negativity all day, it's like you're watering it, it grows!

I had started out in a professional field that i really didn't like. I felt like i was stuck to slave away in a 9-to-5 job working on brain-numbing soykaf i didn't care about. As it turns out, the career i chose includes a lot of different specializations, and when i started following one such training course, i realized that what i was doing was not trash and i actually found the idea of living off this skill in my life to be feasible! In a way that makes me not want to kill myself, heh. It seems actually possible that i'll be doing something i'll enjoy doing. When this possibility is before you, you feel so light and free. https://archive.org/download/20-minutes-till-dawn-vb.-12679152-linux-repack/20_Minutes_Till_Dawn_%28vb.12679152%29_%5BLinux%2C_Repack%5D.run

>i do give a damn about all the suffering souls out there that are still in the throes of it why are you seriously selling me this bullshit of yours? you don't give a fuarrrk about anyone out there. don't believe? go on and explain me why the fuarrrk would you bother about anyone suffering. i'd wager your little head can't come up with anything that's not "muh nah empathy". fuarrrk you. i bet you have no idea why you do it. i bet you can't explain me why your duty is to help depressed people. you are just caught in the moment, neither considering what precedes, nor what follows. even your oppic is fuarrrking retarded. and do you tell me you wish to help. you fuarrrking wish to feed your ego, nothing more. your whole oppost contains no useful info btw, you fuarrrker, now where's your help? do you not see that by making this thread you prove that you are incapable of labor? what have you done to the purpose of helping others? why did you make a useless thread that relays your responsibility on others? >you can vent, confess, but most importantly share methods you've found to alleviate, punch back, repel the depression back to its little hidey-hole or i can tell you to fuarrrk off and drown myself in the immense pleasure of putting you down because your fuarrrking thread has no value at all. >You can share stuff that makes you happy what makes me happy is doing everything i can to make the likes of you unhappy and as miserable as possible. god forgive me for being this unsocial, but i am yet to learn being tame enough to ignore people who are so delusional about themselves >OP making this thread because he saw a cute girl at the store who looked so lethargic see? you're fuarrrking carried away by the appearance of a cute girl so you somehow feel entitled to soykaf. no fuarrrk you're not. you just fuarrrking create a stupid fantasy, self insert and now you're here rescuing cute little girls out there. you think calling a cute depressed girl cute is empathy? no it's fuarrrking egoism, because you don't do it to the end of doing a good act, but to the end of pleasing you swollen ego. if you were really the good man helping poor wretches you wouldn't brag about it in such a stupid manner. where are your theorems? where is your reasoning that would refute the depressive imagery and lead to truth that's happiness? where are your tools? where is your measure? tell me how you're going to help. tell me how far you are ready to push yourself. tell me what you know of happiness. show me that you're qualified to helping depressed people on their way out. show me that you fuarrrkING GIVE A DAMN. i don't see it. you're not helping anyone. nobody in here is fuarrrking helping anyone. i tell you, all of you are recycling the thermodynamic equilibrium, you can't create order, you can't lower entropy and as such you are forever stuck in the cages of your own consciences. look at your thread. look at the present responses. show me somebody who possesses anything useful for the purpose of fending off unhappiness. show me fuarrrking anybody. show me a single man out there! all of you should be back on reddit farming your upvotes 'cause everything you do, you do to the very end of being validated, even your fuarrrking disgusting laments about external validation are there because you want to be externally validated by the misfits. oooh my butt >food >shower >not to dwell on negative thoughts and memories >bro don't be sad pls make a fuarrrking wiki or something, but no of course you won't, you need to keep doing your duty all too well, that is recycling the equilibrium. keep repeating the same thing over and over again, buds and keep telling you that it's not fuarrrking madness being so deeply in denial about truth as you are, how can you fuarrrking seek to battle depression? all your efforts are so very aimed at not going out your comfort zone and not shattering your beliefs. and you seek happiness? tell what you are ready to do to the purpose of attaining it? are you ready to throw off your opinions and embrace new? are you ready to unlearn you present convictions and substitute them with better ones? no you didn't even fuarrrking think of it. keep recycling, keep being mad. i dwell on your madness. i feed off it. i build my strength upon your failures. even this post. i just can't deny myself the pleasure of telling you that you are ridiculous

>>82010 It's not my duty and i don't need a reason. I just want to. Why would i need a reason? Why would i need to meet any of your standards? In the end it's your choice if you want to be positive or negative. But i will tell you this in full sincerity. I will be positive. And you can't change soykaf about that. The likes of you will not drag me back to depression, because. So you can ascribe to me whatever dreamed up factoids you want. The alternative to making this thread and potentially helping someone is not making this thread and not helping anyone. A lot of words for little good mate

>>82011 >It's not my duty and i don't need a reason. and that's why i tell you to open your eyes and see finally that nobody will receive any help from you, and all you hear you'll find out to be flattery written in the heat of the moment. >The likes of you will not drag me back to depression, because. the likes of me will not move a fuarrrking finger to do anything to you. your depression will find you regardless of what i do. i won't even need to think about. i just know it as a fact that whoever searches in the wrong place will never find >A lot of words for little good mate but not quite as many as you will say in the long term. and i did not intent to do you any good at all, don't think me that stupid. you do yourself good on your own, of course if you have enough courage to face your face
Terzibashjian · 2024-06-17 10:04
>>82012 Why would a reason be required? And i don't really care about flattery. I don't really understand what you're on about, but if yelling at me made you feel better, i'm glad for that at least.
Hagbard Celine · 2024-06-17 10:12
Actually you probably saw this and your mind flashed back to these godawful search results that are all corny and cheesy garbage written by feel-good mind-wellness karens which is essentially a blogpost thinly veiled in baseless psycho-pop platitudes. But when you name me a "people like you"... personally i'm offended! The thing is, earlier today and now also i'm in a deeply happy mood. The girl at the store made me realize some people got it real bad in their lives, and i thought to myself if there was a way to bring my happiness to those that need it. That's it. Or the youtube videos, terrible, where i can imagine they're all like ~like and subscribe~ in the end... Yes that would be ego!
Cutter · 2024-06-17 10:51
>>82013 >Why would a reason be required? without reason there is no order and without order there is only thermodynamic equilibrium, which implies absence of progress, nothing but eternal transmutation between equivalent states. >And i don't really care about flattery. sell that to somebody else >I don't really understand what you're on about you're deeply fake, you know it, you perceive it, but you don't do anything to become genuine

>>82004 Solve et coagula indeed is my method as well. Been finding that exercise, diet, restriction of psychoactive substances to a minimum, plenty of fresh air and sunlight, solitude, abstaining from being around people who are depressed, avoiding the generally degenerative society, not sitting on chansites and the internet all day, and focusing on the purification of body, soul, and spirit does wonders, and FAST.

>>82022 >>82023 Hi it's OP! >No need to even reply to that guy's bizarre rant Not sure who you're talking about but if it's >>82010, i don't think it's fair to just chuck him away as "severe mental problems". Depression can be a severe mental problem. So if we want to be sincere with helping we can't just throw him out. >>82026 >I think he just wants to give us all some hope For sure! But helping also. I just think that if yo u have the right tools and weapons then things get easier. I just want this thread to be a place where people share what makes them pumped up and stronger and so on. I do think this can help. I found that it is highly important to be wise about yourself. As in, know yourself, know how your function, be profound and understand yourself. When you know how you tick, you can detach yourself and take on a better perspective. Often you find people that hate 'the world' because it is materialistic, degenerate, empty, etc, and come to find out that they value the opposites to this and that's all. It's not even really true that the world is like that, that's just how they view it because they need the opposites such as purpose, meaning, soulfulness, authenticity, sincerity, honor, heroism, and that's what they want more of. Same thing as when studies show that smarter people, while they tend to be more depressed, also tend to deal with their issues better. On that note, check your mbti! Often people realize out of the blue that it's not their problem, it's just their surroundings aren't very compatible with them.

>>82022 >Textbook sociopath. hey hey finally somebody called me a sociopath! it's because you're the one who is more on the sociopathic side of the continuum, because you're a dishonest liar, that seeks easy gratification and hates those who fail to provide it, like me. all the while i'm entirely honest in my reviling of op for doing something great without giving it a second thought and without making a proper preparation. you make helping people a fun activity where you're supposed to be thanked and called useful. but you're terribly useless and deserve no thanks. and when i tell you that, you hate me and call me names. and then you call me mentally ill and pathetic! isn't it fascinating? whew! >>82023 it's because you're drowning in your own lies. >ive put so much effort into other people's well being that's lie number one, you have put zero effort into anyone's well being, only in yours. somehow you thought that making their life "better" you will make yours "better" as well. nope. until you remain unhappy and broken there is nothing you can do to make anyone's life better, because you simply don't know what's better. if you knew, you wouldn't be unhappy. but you will never be happy through living others' lives for them. wake the fuarrrk up samurai and start finally to get rid of that burden of things that are not yours. unhappiness and happiness are both cognitive illusions, you're entitled to freely put yourself into either as you choose. physical pain in the only really formidable impediment, but some people were able to overcome even that. >they would just feel guilty to leave me behind forever. lie number two. the more you give a fuarrrk about what others think, the more unhappy you are. if they feel like being unhappy it's their fault and their problem. your responsibility is your own happiness only, then your responsibility is to show them their wrongs as much as is allowed to you by god or whatever. if they still refuse to admit reason and turn to unhappiness, it's none of your business, because there is nothing you can do about that. you can of course come back to being unhappy with them and who'll be the wiser in that case? >Yet i still cant manage to improve anything in my life lie number three. instead of vainly chasing things that are not allowed, maybe it's time to give them up? casting off burdens makes breathing a whole lot easier

>>82047 No. I wouldn't be close with someone like that, I was just talking about one time conversations where I just ask questions instead of passing judgment to someone who might not even care. That stems from my interest in the human mind and effects of society so i analyze these people. I just am saying I like to know how people become the way they are so I know how to prevent it in myself and others and I don't just assume too much about anyone. Knowing others can help you know about yourself because you can see where you are alike and where you differ in how you approach different things. This helps make better decisions. >>82003 I'll be straightforward: Meaningful prepping exercise, letting go of ideals when they die, and masturbating. Meaningful exercise is an easy one: getting exercise has all of it's well known benefits, but training specifically for the goal of preparedness in case of a disaster or emergency by hiking under weight and performing weightlifts that exercise large dynamic motions will give a lot of purpose to the time spent exercising and fulfills you in knowing that you are prepared in ways other people arent. Letting go of ideals when they die is a part of growth that is sometimes hard to accept, but is necessary if you want to actually be happy. I thought I was into computer science and programming for a long time. I read many of the books, attended the conferences, joined hacker meetings, and even went to college for it. But over the years I would set goals for myself within that field that I just couldn't meet; when I tried to force myself to sit down and learn a programming language or try to wrap my head around crackign techniques I wasn't using, I couldn't. And I discovered that I really don't enjoy programming, especially not for the joy of programming itself. Sometime in the middle of getting my CS degree I realized that my lack of motivation to become the best in this field wasn't because I was lazy or defective, but because deep down I didn't care for CS anymore; the novelty was gone. This lead to me giving up the time I could've spent chasing a goal that was meaningless to me and using that time to try out a lot of different things that excited me that increased my overall skillset and made me happier with myself. Masturbation is the touchy one (haha). People rant against mastubation all the time for whatever reason, but I think that they are talking about pornography, or that they don't separate mastubating from pornography for some reason. For those of you who think this way, occasionally masturbating on its own is great. Being intimate with yourself slowly using your two hands and your mind's eye is the best way of going about things because you can really be in control of the scenarios that make you happy and because you can find what parts of your body are sensitive. Knowing a lot of other men, it seems as if the majority of guys either jack off as quickly as possible or fall down the rabbit hole of buying odd sex toys and fetish equipment, creating other insidious problems. To all of you I say: Relax. Start off by laying down for the day with the lights off and massaging your muscles in bed. Scratch your head and stretch however you need. Then work your hands towards where you feel they need to go. Try a bunch of different styles and find what makes your head feel full. Listen to your own breath and let out whatever feels natural (but not so loud that others hear you). Prolong the finish and go to sleep afterwards. You'll find that you sleep better and that you'll have sometime at night to look forward to. This is a weird way of putting it, but in simple terms: masturbate like how you think a woman would and it'll feel a lot better than watching porn or completely abstaining.

>>82087 Absolutely! Writing a journal helps, i kept a journal for years where i wrote my innermost gravest soykaf while i was also dealing with grief etc. I say it helps in a specific way: it clears the dust in your head.

>>82005 >>82006 I love this idea. Sometimes it doesn't work outright though. I find that I can't just "will" my way into thinking positive. If I'm having a rough day I find it useful to get outside and go to my local park or whatever, and remind myself that I'm just part of the world, yet my life is what I make of it. I define what my problems are, and when I look around, it all seems so simple. TL;DR go touch grass

>>82100 >I thought I was into computer science and programming for a long time. I wish I had released this sooner. It took a drug trip for me to realize that I'm not as into programming as I thought. I still work in the industry. It's good money and not a whole lotta work. But I spend my free time on music these days.

Yes, this is how cognitive behavioral therapy works. The deeply held beliefs that we formed through experience in turn inform the automatic thoughts by which we interpret the events of our lives. Our interpretation affects the emotions we feel about the events, determining our behaviors in response to the events, all of which further informs our core beliefs, which will shape future thoughts and emotions. By monitoring, recording, intercepting, and rewriting the reactive thoughts, you can intercept and influence the formation of the core beliefs (here you should understand "beliefs" as "assumptions about things" and not like "core values"). Attached: 1. Excerpt from "The Feeling Good Handbook" detailing this process (21 pages) 2. Full handbook (767 pages) (actually, too large, see https://files.catbox.moe/umjia0.pdf ) Dr. Burns is a pretty entertaining read, I mean, he's not George Carlin or anything, but he isn't entirely dry either. If you're interested but have doubtrs about spending the time on it, at least check out the preface/introduction or "thumb" through and see if anything catches your eye

I tried a bunch of different jobs and every time I end up feeling retarded. Everyone is way better than me, higher-ups get pissed at my incompetence and I end up getting fired or quitting out of shame shortly after. I cannot hold a job. The few things I'm good at require having either prior experience I don't have or a piece of paper saying I spent an absurd amount of money being scammed by a university. I am genuinely thinking about leaving all this soykaf behind to live on the streets or in the woods. Either that or I might as well kill myself

>>82005 >>82006 I agree with geeding the right emotions but dont forget sometimes its wise to revisit situations you feel emotionally stuck in. The body cant forget what it needs healed. Going back and parsing a situation when youre not directly in it can help you better understand everything. My rule of thumb is if it wont get me stuck in a negative feedback loop and it feels like somethings missing Ill parse a bad memory out. >>82010 ahahahahaha you only see what you want to see. >>82021 Many good suggestions. Those and the other suggested tricks all point to journaling being a key underlying aspect. Being able to track yourself and change bit by bit while at the same time giving yourself proof youre changing is very beneficial. Though I do get not being able to journal consistently and just going for it. Its like a calorie counter for your depression and mental ailments. The tricks that worked for me were cutting bs out on a weekly basis even if it was just 2% of a problem gone chipping away at it made quitting entirely easier. Keeping track really roughly just in my head counting out whats left to remove or mitigate kept me strongly on the war path. Cutting out drinking, smoking, fast food, porn, counting calories, basic calisthenics and dumbbell exercise routines using a bag of books or a milk jug filled with water are all great ways to climb out of a depressed state. If you deal with adhd I also recommend trying a magnesium supplement. That made combatting any part of my depression actually feasible.
