Does anyone else get that their eyes get really focused and concentration goes through the roof out of no reason? Just sat down my PC tonight and suddenly everything is so "far away" yet I am zoomed in the words I am writing on the screen and focused on them mentally and with my eyes. Not only that but I see everything in my periphery 100% and think really clearly. Something "clicked" in my head few minutes ago and I can't get out of it, I am terrified. Does anyone know how this is called or if anyone had similar experience? seen those people on modafinil or ritalin? something like that, but I didn't take anything, seriously.

>you found out how to change dominance >you found out how to shift focal points >you have a problem with depth perception >you have acquired depth perception

>>8063 I didn't control it and it isn't just my eyes Its 4 AM here and I am still not sleepy

>>8065 eh, sometimes that happens when i pass a certain threshold, protip, anything you do now will make little sense tomorrow t. submitted a paper and read it the next day and realized I probably should have spell checked it, but it looked perfect at the time

I actually had something like this happen a long time ago while I was working at a department store ringing up customers. All of a sudden everything became "hyper-real" and I became super vigilant and focused. The movement of my hands folding up people's clothes and taking off the security tags shifted into absolute focus, but became somehow foreign and surreal to me. It lasted like a solid 20-30 minutes and I'm surprised I didn't freak anyone out.

>>8062 Well, it's physically impossible to focus your peripheral vision, so it sounds like you're losing it, Lain.
Pris · 2018-06-20 16:18
>>8067 You described my experience exactly Were you emotionally distressed before the event? Were you relaxed? Well rested? I think it might be physiological situation that stimulated the event.
Pris · 2018-06-20 17:48
>>8080 I was actually a bit hungover from partying the night before, but I wasn't feeling that bad. My shift was almost over, so I was basically just focusing on getting through the last hour. I'm not sure what caused it. Wasn't really distressed or anything. As I said, it lasted about 20-30 minutes. I'm not sure what snapped me out of it, but it went away eventually.

>>8062 I know this feeling/experience/state. I get it when I focus my eyes and mind on a thing for a certain period of time. Im also getting this in lectures sometimes.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flow_(psychology) >... flow, also known colloquially as being in the zone, is the mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. >In essence, flow is characterized by complete absorption in what one does, and a resulting loss in one's sense of space and time. It sounds like this could be it, Lain. The article also mentions "hyperfocus" as a similar phenomenon.

>>8082 I was drunk day before the event, but not hungover. Could that be the stresser? Lack of water?
Cowboy · 2018-06-21 02:33
>>8087 Flow sounds like a chill, in the zone, type of thing. I was in a flow state before. Hyperfocus is what I think I am describing. It hit me out of the sudden, zoomed in vision and surreal feeling like some other anon described it. Thanks for link

>>8090 fuarrrk me. Seems like hyperfocus is just something people with mental illness, learning disability or brain trauma have. Either that was something weird and unforseenable one time thing of really strong focus or I seriously have some brain problems
Nameless · 2018-06-24 06:59
>>8089 Could be. I've had all sorts of strange experiences after a night of drinking. Could be mental illness of some sort too, though I've not been diagnosed with anything like that. It certainly was different then a flow state though.
Eldon Tyrell · 2018-06-24 07:36
>>8180 Could be de-personalization. Not that you might have it as a formal diagnosis. Can happen due to stress, malnutrition, lack of sleep, dehydration, etc. The follow on effects are the anxiety/panic attack. My two cents .

>>8062 funny you mention ritalin and soykaf because I have ONLY had this happen on adderall. The people here acting like its totally normal dont know what your describing I think. That or I really do have ADHD or some soykaf. Its like my brains going so fuarrrking hard I AM the words on the screen and can actually look around my periphery while still typing perfectly clear a mile a minute. I can be fuarrrking contemplating life like I would when im just sitting there and writing a paper or doing math or some soykaf. But again only on studydrugs for me.

I know what you're talking about and it happened to me from time to time. I don't know if it's relevant but I think it mostly happened during night time or in situations where I'm just bored or not doing much. I actually asked some people about it and the people who knew what I was talking about described it as an involuntary/accidental adrenaline discharge, and why it feels so weird and alien is because you're just bored and not doing much, so you're actually able to feel all the effects in a really introspective and self conscious way. Unlike the adrenaline discharges when you're playing sports or in a fight or flight situation, where you hardly even feel it because you're so focused on what you're doing or in the moment. I don't know if it is actually the case, but it made sense to me.

>>8186 >>8183 >>8181 Thanks for your inputs I think it was mix of my mental state and my physiology, though still don't know if it was adrenaline discharge or something. It didn't feel exactly like depersonalization though, I was still "me" behind those eyes and hands and text on screen that my eyes zoomed on and focused. I think there was something to me being tired and little bit drunk. Could be adrenaline discharge that was built up over the day. Thanks for the discussion. Hopefully starting this discussion will make others see it and give their input.
