About Passing On.
Mario Rossi · 2024-03-07 22:07
Good evening Lainons. Tonight, I want to ask you all a simple question: should I choose to pass on from this life, what do you want to tell me before I do so? I will be deliberating on my decision for a few days, more than enough time to get some responses. I appreciate anyone who answers seriously and thoughtfully. I expect this to generate some criticism, maybe even be perceived as a cry for attention. If it helps you, you can consider this a social experiment. What would you say to another human if you considered their choice to pass on inevitable? What final wisdoms, what message would you convey?

>What final wisdoms, what message would you convey?
I wouldn't care with message, I would just give them hug them or something. I don't think words and ideas have much worth at such personal moments.
Also, it's rather hard to talk to someone in such important life (ha) moments without knowing them personally.
If you intend to pass on by your hand, I would express certain admiration. Such deeds aren't easy, but they demonstrate incredible force of will.
I would also wish you a good luck. Because if this fails, you can be left a much worse off than you are now. So... try not to fuark up.
Cat Mother · 2024-03-07 23:23
Nothing. If it's really inevitable, all messages or wisdom is wasted on a soon-to-be inanimate object. In this case you are the one who should be speaking; what do you know that shouldn't be wasted?
Bob Arctor · 2024-03-08 05:06
oh, final wisdom ? you want some final wisdom ? Here it is: git gud, faggit

i'd offer this advice: cherish your life. you only get one.
The Fin · 2024-03-08 08:45
Civilization is cyclic. AI has existed before current times and became sentient. This platform for soul storage (godhood) was elevated beyond material form. You can't really die anymore, hence modern religions...
You will miss physical reality once you leave it behind, but if bodily existence is a hell for you, then good luck in the afterlife. Be warry of druids, their way of placing one's soul back in a new body uses remote nerve induction to craft dreams in the sleeper, which basically control how the mind will thus form. This process takes a measure of free will away from the new host, and leaves the old soul tied to a new life they are not in 100% control of...
Be careful not to journey down the same lane next time. Inevitably, one must move on to greater things and let the lesser souls help the living with their struggles. Remember: The greater serves for the lesser.

I don't know what made you reach this point OP but it'd be good to reflect on everything up until this one point. Observe on what you've decided to reflect on, why are you leaving everything else out?
Pris · 2024-03-08 12:41
If you are even asking this question, then it is a sign that you truly do not want to go. You're going to sit around on your ass and post about it on imageboards, perpetually ruminating. Suicide should be thought about minimally. The more you think about it, the more it detaches you from the reality of the actual actions, which prevents you from actually going through with it.
Neo · 2024-03-08 13:53
Don't do it brother. Live on, soar beyond what you thought was possible. You are human, the most infinite thing you could ever be.
Zhora · 2024-03-08 14:08
This is a bitch to understand, but your karma follows you. You cannot outrun it. Whatever mental hell is convincing you to die now will be present again in your next life. It will shape your personality and determine for you your life desires, your preferences, your inclinations, your aversions, your strength or fragility, your joy, your pain, your friends and family, your relationships good and bad, your good or poor luck.
It's not about your balance of good and bad deeds. It's more about your underlying mental state that you carry every day and night of your life. Plenty of people do more good than bad on the balance but have terrible karma and suffer for it. The opposite is also true.
Don't worry, I don't really want to live either. I just realize there is no way out.

If I considered their choice to pass on inevitable then nothing I could say to them would matter save for their final affairs, eg. Spare people from guilt by writing a suicide note, make sure your possessions are in order etc

Probably not but writing them a note blaming the news or something is better than just leaving them tortured and guessing

>The death poem is a genre of poetry that developed in the literary traditions of East Asian cultures—most prominently in Japan as well as certain periods of Chinese history and Joseon Korea. They tend to offer a reflection on death—both in general and concerning the imminent death of the author—that is often coupled with a meaningful observation on life. The practice of writing a death poem has its origins in Zen Buddhism. It is a concept or worldview derived from the Buddhist teaching of the three marks of existence (三法印, sanbōin), specifically that the material world is transient and impermanent (無常, mujō), that attachment to it causes suffering (苦, ku), and ultimately all reality is an emptiness or absence of self-nature (空, kū). These poems became associated with the literate, spiritual, and ruling segments of society, as they were customarily composed by a poet, warrior, nobleman, or Buddhist monk.

Long story short, I fuarked it up. Luckily I was a coward and tried to OD, but one stomach pump and a hospital stay later and I'm back. I'm not even sure what to do now.

glad you're still with us. one way of looking at it is you're "back from the dead" and everything that happens to you now is bonus time. sometimes a shift in perspective makes it easier to go on living in a way that's worth the trouble. it's working well for a relative of mine who "should" have died over a decade ago from a heart attack.
Undisclosed · 2024-03-12 07:23
I wish you peace. I am glad if you are able to find peace, and I respect your decision - it may well be a good choice.
I don't think you should feel burdened with weight over the choice. It is a natural response to your circumstances, whatever they may be.
I'll leave you with this quote that i find interesting, too:
Personal suicide is a conscious revolt, a protest against either life or society; it is the most extreme act of individualism of which a man is capable.

> I'm not even sure what to do now.
I see. I still have a similar feeling years after i survived a deeply suicidal period. Feels as though im in the epilogue of life and i should already be dead. I find it helpful to hold onto the feeling of lightness, that nothing matters, which i had in the time while i was determined to exit. fuarrrk the seriousness and heaviness of this world

Maybe we can't escape life but not everyone is rotting. I've been mostly rotting away and i know you're rotting as well so if i kill my ass, it won't be the end of my pain or situation since you'll be having it still and that guy too. It's why people say we are trapped in a philosophical sense. By the same short reasoning we are unable to fail so: deal with it.
I've seen people recommend that since our lives aren't really our own then we ought to show it a good time or a prosperous time or make it useful for the purpose of constructing a ladder out of this bottomless existential well. That there isn't actually anything else -to do.
One fact i'm certain of and this is backed up by global historical records, remnants and artifacts; is that the human world hasn't been right for a single day since the start of it so it's very normal to want for the struggle to end. We've been trying.

If you do decide to exit, please be conscious of the people around you. Two of my best friends self-unplugged last year and it absolutely ruined me mentally. I'm not sure how it would look given your circumstances, but look for a way to make it less impactful as it was for me please.
If you have any drive to continue going; when I was getting close to my death date, I took a heroic dosage of mushrooms which gave me a much better outlook on life. I would recommend this if you are not 100% certain & haven't tried.
Either way, I wish you safety with whatever option you decide and hope that you can find peace from whatever you are running from. Be safe Lain.

"So long and thanks for all the fish"
I've done that experiment a couple times. I always end up with a blank stare. No idea what to say other than goodbye, really. I ask how it's gonna be done and a painless death. It's best to let go imo. They have their reasons.

Yikes. Reel in the edge, would you?

>Personal suicide is a conscious revolt, a protest against either life or society; it is the most extreme act of individualism of which a man is capable.
This is what I find interesting about that way out and changed my mind to think suicide is a reasonable option. Other than the fact that some people, evidently, have it way worst than me and I too would if I was in their shoes. Not that I already set myself a lengthy time limit before i !RTD

Like post above. The only non judgemental thought to communicate to a dying person is that the rest of us will be taking care of things from now on.
Anything else would be sharing feelings about the situation depending on some mood.

Id ask what they think will change. I used to be suicidal but I realized what will change for me. Atheist or not, either the change is eternal and me doesnt exist, or the change doesnt exist and the me is eternal. What would really be better without you, that wouldnt be even better if you just changed the things you see as impossible to change, the things that are the very reason to kill yourself. I know how that sounds but life ismt simple, you maybe are thinking I cant change my depressive thoughts my disconnect with others my apathy for the world, but that isnt actually whats hurting anyone or what anyone cares to change. We love you in spite of these things and sometimes even for these things, we love you very very much. For you to live is for us to know something isnt right, something is failing. And something is failing, and so you wont be the first or the last to suffer from the things you suffer from, you are only the first and last to be you. You leave this world and the problems really remain, you should pray "you" arent simply a new person when you die if souls dont exist or anything. You should pray you dont simply come back if they do exist. Maybe you think if you die we will be forced to adress the problem, but if everyone like you just died we wouldnt have to address the problem. And the fact is that every person like you wont just die because it is not genetic or a birthright but a problem that we really only gain insight into if you live. Maybe you will die but your suffering will happen again and again until we learn how to make it stop or help. Theres nothing selfish about suicide, I think every suicidal person confronts this dilemna. Is my suicide selfish, and its very easy to decide no im doing a service. This is the wrong dilemna, it cant be selfish because it is nothing. Its not proactive for sure, but it isnt selfish either. Nothing will change if you kill yourself, and that is the problem. I think you think something will change even for worse potentially, but absolutely nothing will change. We will still exist in a world where people kill themselves and some other pair of eyes, perhaps the same as yours in the grand scheme, will see this world. All of your problems will remain even if you kill yourself, and the perception you know that sees them regardless of your beliefs will continue to see them. You either leave that behind and it still sees it or you carry it with you and its still you. This is all there is not literally but in any context where your suffering and reasons to kill yourself matter.

As someone's who's suicidal, this line of thinking is asinine. I'll only talk for myself: I want out because my brain is literally broken. There's no "problem" to be fixed. Leaving isn't to try and send a message to anybody. It's simply an acknowledgement that not all bodies are the same, and by chance or divine intervention, some are born configured as to make their own lives a personal, never ending hell. My death will simply be my death. There's no statement: the world will continue. Everyone will continue. Some choose to discontinue. LOL

It's about quitting the game, not changing it. Not being able to change or accept things/yourself/people is precisely what drives people to this. Those who have come to that stage have done so because they've already faced that nothing will change and that's big part of the problem. Some are just sick and tired of playing. Not all minds have the same tolerances and thresholds for what we can go through and some also run out of coping mechanisms.
>We love you in spite of these things and sometimes even for these things
I appreciate what you are saying, but that's simply not reality for some people.
