I've been interested in learning more about this and its effects on people if done too early. Do you have any good articles or journals where I could get more information on the topic?

>>77996 This is very thorough, thank you for sending it. I always find it crazy how we still have so many common medical practices like this that actively hurt us.

>>77997 Yes. It would not be so tiresome if there wasn't such bizarre and uncanny resistance to fixing such things, even after the combination of common sense and evidence becomes overwhelming. This should have been dealt with decades ago. In fact it never should have been able to get off the ground.

>>77998 It's one of those things where some doctors probably decided on it in 1850 before they knew anything and now ignorant people (including many doctors) have blind faith in it, because it's "decided by the experts". Many such cases. Partly it's also how the information is presented. You're not annoying and spammy like the butthole guy or the various vaccine guys, so I'm a lot more receptive to your ideas. I don't think I'd let them vice my kid's cord if I ever reproduced.

>>77999 It gets complicated. One thing I omitted, initially they cited (ad hoc and retroactive imo) neonatal jaundice as a reason toc ontinue the practice. In reality neonatal jaundice was caused, among the more mundane reasons, by the type of vitamin K they used to use. So they caused a problem and tried to solve it by saying jaundice is caused by having too much nutritious blood. No coincidence modern day free iron issues are common in neonates, simply because they don't have their ferritin reserves, and thus cannot buffer and store iron.
