Recently, I've been hit with a huge wave of emotions, and I've come to the realization that I need to get my shit together. I am a 23 year old NEET; I have not been enrolled in any kind of education since high school, and I've never had a real job. Like many NEETs, I have had horrible autism-inflicted social anxiety my whole life, and I've not had much motivation for pursuing higher education, since I don't have a lot of confidence in myself. But with the way the economy is, I think it's in my best interest to obtain as much USD as I possibly can, before it's too late. That being said, after I apply for a minimum wage job, I want to attend night-school, but I still have no idea what kind of trade I want to learn. A few of my family members have gone into hvac, since that seems to be the most popular in-demand trade right now, but I'm not so into it. I've had a lot of back problems over the years, so a physically demanding job like that isn't something I'm too interested in. The only two trade school certifications I've considered are becoming an electrician, or a data centre technician. I don't particularly care about either of those fields, or have any prior knowledge/experience with them, but both can open up a lot of job opportunities for me. What do you think, /hum/? If you were me, what trade would you pick?

If you're a manual type of guy, give electrician a shot. if you wanna sit infront of a pc for most of the time, data center tech. Personally? If I didn't already choose and was in your position, I'd go electrician. You'll have to deal with customers in both options, but it's really not that bad. The folks you'll meet as an electrician will be pretty happy to see you doing all the work for the most part. You get used to it and can be pleasant.

There's just something I want to say regarding social skills: like any skill, it's something you'll learn by doing. Some of the people who have good social skills, might have been gifted with a tendency for it, but most people just learned what social behaviour works in the current era. Thus you'll get better at social interactions by having many social interactions.

>>77810 Agreed. I'm speaking from personal experience, it really does work this way. Last year I was hikki until I wasn't. Joined college and in beginning it was painful to even attend classes and interacting with teachers and classmates. I just wanted to run away. I eventually got used to it. You cannot learn social skills until you put yourself into an environment that demands it.
