Physical body as a programmed limiter

Anamika · 2024-01-25 20:57
I suppose what gets me is the presence of a "mind over matter" component. A recent example being eyesight. I don't recall how it happened or over what course, but at a certain point in high school my eyesight was bad enough that I learned to recognize people by how they moved, their clothing, their "vibe", and general traits. And yet I began to notice occasionally I would wake up and for a few seconds my eyesight would be perfect, before fading away. So it was clearly possible. I learned to focus and so on, was aware of the "Bates Method" but didn't really use it, found something that worked and fixated on it. Got it to the point where, without squinting, I could consciously focus and have perfect eyesight quite reliably. At the longest point I maintained this almost constantly for several hours at a time, while moving and doing other things. And yet some days it just won't work for long, or I'm in the wrong frame of mind, or it's been too long since I've really focused on it... Like, are you kidding me? Let me get this straight. Whether it be a function of the intraocular muscles, the muscles outside the eye, posture and tension in the neck, the brainstem... whatever it is, "the system" or the "psychophysical apparatus" is demonstrably mechanically capable of working, at will, and to an extent automatically is persisted in, and yet I stop focusing on it and it stops working on its own. And this is supposed to be believeable, I am supposed to work with this, tolerate this, and go forward with suspension of disbelief intact. It gets to a certain point and I just have to say no. Something is wrong here, it's not believeable. It's nonsense, like a sort of prompt. The universe gives me this and I'm supposed to confabulate a narrative, about this or that thing I did or didn't do, or maybe metals are being liberated and shifting around redepositing in the body, or maybe atrophy from disuse and the muscles get tired, or whatever it is. I'm supposed to make something up and then believe in it, so I can submit to the reality where what is supposed to be, what is clearly possible, and how it's supposed to work, automatically, on its own, all the time, doesn't. And won't. And cannot. And perhaps even should not! Because of this reason, and that reason! Yes it happens that way because it should, and I consent to it, submit to it, believe in it! It really is like the body is a trap. It's a sort of prison. An energetic sink one's awareness is trapped within so the world can drain and devour you through it. It's bizarre. I've often found, within reason, the more you degrade and diminish the physical body, the better the mind functions. Like it's "heavy" to go through the brain, and you are better off getting it out of the way so it doesn't interfere. One trick I found a long time ago was sleep deprivation. Don't eat or sleep and at 22 - 26 hours consume caffeine through some form, maybe kava or something as well doesn't seem to affect the core process. This accelerates learning. Makes it work better. Everything becomes easy, anything you read is rapidly stored verbatim, with no resistance. Zero. Straight in, stored, move on. So basically, you spiked stress hormones by not eating or sleeping, prevented the brain from clearing out metabolic waste, then took in a substance that cuts blood flow to the brain by 40 to 50% on top of it, redirecting it away from the prefrontal cortex and to the limbic system. And this makes it work better. I practically beat the thing into submission with no regard... and it works better. All of its limiters are removed. And the downstream consequences of this process are surprisingly minor. There is some sort of system within the brain, or perhaps post-hypnotic suggestion, which puts limiters on it. And then you experience these limiters and come to believe in it, as though it's natural. When it isn't. It's just BS to make you slog a bit more and therefore run on the wheel more while progressing significantly less. Obstacles are artificial, made up, illusions. Things are made difficult to slow you down and distract you. And somehow this is done by forcing the mind to work through the physical body, which is designed to cripple you. Studying what is possible through hypnosis (and other mind control / fragmenting / post traumatic states), NDEs, etc, several findings and anomalies throughout my life make a lot of sense.

Consider that wearing glasses would be selected for during the industrial revolution: They function as safety goggles, and with a high rate of infection and eye injuries before plastic shielding became cheap, people wearing glasses had a fairly significant +1 to defense. We see the entire world through a similar filter of phobias and relatively beneficial biological white lies because it made us superior organisms, even if that made us subhuman. Apply this thinking to the saying "too smart for his own good" and you'll realize stupidity, subservient retardation, rape, and even schizophrenic reverence of a man in the sky watching over you are all traits that made proto-humans "superior organisms." Monks spend their lives ignoring these "superiorites" within themselves because they came to the same conclusion, and by ignoring their Self they can actually focus on Reality. When I explain this to everyday-Joe I remind him that his perception is perpetually shrouded by at least two layers of inconsistency: For the eyes, his inefficient naked caveman eyeballs and his stupid meat computer feeding him hallucinations as it adjusts the image to make him "superior."

Shameless self bump. My continued endeavors in this have proven out. Though I suppose it's also induced a sort of sadness. I was ready to get rid of the body and escape the material world. I don't feel connected to it still, but increasing my ability to do things / decreasing constant torment, has also diminished the sensation of being drained and devoured by the world. Something has been gained, and something else has been lost. Because everything is just rearranging state, redrawing constellations. That's why I hate this place.
Zhora · 2024-03-23 15:37
>>77231 The body has mechanical and wetware limiters. Your body knows what it is capable of, so it gives you feedback to let you know you are exceeding a safe limit. Think of it like a car RPM redline, or engine overheat alert. Vision is bad for most people because they spend too much time on near-task focus instead of looking out to the distance, which causes eyes to deform and tear the lining of the eye. Muscles are a totally different story. Your mind puts limiters to prevent damage. Humans can lift cars and other heavy objects, but not without causing mechanical damage or tearing muscles and tendons. So your brain tells your body to stop before you go to far. There are certain hormone disorders or drugs that bypass this self preservation response. There is also the approach of task performance called "flow" where your mind turns off the thinking part and goes into a perform mode where your concept of time becomes distorted and your body stops needing to do things like eat, drink, or relieve yourself. There is a theory of training where you tire yourself out before practicing so you no longer think, only do, which forces you to ingrain efficient movement and conserve energy.
Chani · 2024-03-23 17:09
>>78954 I grew up believing this, but now I realize that it's programmed to provide those sensations and feedback not to protect itself from the will, but to ensure you remain trapped and on track within the script provided. The unconscious mind is just a creature of habit. You fear change and loss and so it works to make it real for you.
Dozer · 2024-03-24 17:32

my vision is also variable. If I spend weeks on my computer, I become more near-sighted. If I stay off my computer for a few weeks, my far sight gets better. Also other factors like tiredness or stress can cause my vision to go blurry. The body is a peculiar instrument. My thesis is that if you do a lot of reading or focus your eyes to something close-by, naturally the shape of your eyeballs will adjust to accommodate that habit. And the reverse seems to be true as well. At least in my experience

>>81697 Most people are content with the world as it is. This is clear as nobody has moved to change it. Computer systems are only safe until someone puts effort into attacking them. Infrastructure is woefully neglected, and most people have lines they won't cross. One of the misconceptions that many have is that physical limitations are the greatest thing holding humans back. Humans have the ability to invent their problems away. You don't need to be strong to invent mechanical advantage. Inventions are often iterative, they just improve on the same action only slightly. On the other hand, every once in a while someone discovers something that delimits the physical bodies abilities. Immune system is bad? Take an antibiotic. Broke a bone? wear a cast. Loose a limb? make a prosthetic. The cyberpunk option is to shed the organic body all together for a better machine. The human body is more adaptable in the long run, because machines are hard coded to operate on fixed principles. The body generates and regenerates itself and can have code rewritten on a regular basis. >>81714 As a thought experiment, as the OP puts it. If your body is the weak point, steroids and amphetamines work wonders to take away those limiters. It will eventually kill you though, like replacing the fluids in your car with more volatile ones that cause the engine to run more powerfully and hotter. As far as the mind is concerned, drug addiction can easily subvert logic and self controlling behaviors and ethics. Your quote is just fancy words. It sounds like an esoteric truth about the mindless mind. Sure football will be easier to loose yourself in than studying religious text, but that does not mean that football is the absolute path to enlightenment. Or that it is a better path for that matter.
Vasya Pupkin · 2024-06-13 16:55
>>81718 >Most people are content with the world as it is. true though that may be, there is a very sizeable number of people, who are not content for various reasons. An easy example: there's quite a large number of people who seem to think they have a dog in the Semitic War going on right about now, or in the Slavic one. I seem to recall a fair number of scrawny redditors or other peoples heading to eastern europe to go kill some slavs, or something, and perhaps even some, I guess maybe on the plump side individuals self immolating because muh jews or something. Many people on here, even seemed to have strong opinions on these things, one way or another. Is there really no one among all the people interested in these wars who's willing to bring down one of these countries the easy way ? Apparently not. Most people are content with the world as it is, I suppose, and a major consequence of this is that the status quo is robust to any tall poppies who try and fiddle with things. Once in a while, a small bit of arguable police overreach, or quibble over tax law, or disagreement over succession, can lead to a major event that does bring down countries. But the magic, which is not something that can easily be instigated at whim, whether you're scrawny or brawny, is getting that spark to turn into some massive upheaval. And that massive upheaval usually settles down quickly into something that most people can be content with once again.
Bob Arctor · 2024-06-13 19:02
>>81722 >And that massive upheaval usually settles down quickly into something that most people can be content with once again. This is really the main problem of overcoming the mind-body limitation. People want to think it's cool until they realize the cost of getting rid of aspects of themselves. People want to be bigger/faster/stronger/smarter but don't want to sacrifice anything like their precious time or effort to achieve it. Most people are content with being overweight, those who are not are content with being skinny, those who are not are content with working out sometimes. Others are constantly in the gym, trying to avoid all of the above, but at the cost of time they could spend doing other things. The reason pills and potions sell is because people are not willing to give up enough of their lifestyles to make themselves better. They just want a software patch that will improve the hardware. That is a fallacy. At best you might optimize the system, but you can't give a computer a program that updates the hardware to provide more RAM or processing speed than it is physically capable of using within the constraints of functional operation. Just as much as you can't lift more than your bones and muscles are capable of mechanically lifting.

Its not merely lazyness about not wanting to give up some silly habit or other, its about realizing that you've already structured your entire life around this...hobby ? specialization ? and realizing there are so many people who are still better than you, and craving the feeling that you got when you started, when large improvements came quickly and regularly. Maybe you'll never exceed skeletal limitations (which are themselves not entirely fixed), but the average person never even approaches them, and there is some wonder in discovering how best to maneuver around those limitations, and do things impressively despite them. In college I would be going to the gym two to three hours every day simply because I had nothing else to do besides homework and grocery shopping. Sometimes classmates would ask me how I got so muscular: >lainon your chest is getting bigger, how have you been doing it? >I go to the gym three hours a day seven times a week >Wow! How do you keep that up? >I have no friends so there's nothing relly better to do with my time after studying >... Maybe that's how I wound up with no contacts after college... Anyways, maintaining balance between priorities (socializing, working, exercising/training) is key. And just because I probably should've put more time into trying to socialize doesn't mean the pursuit of strength and agility was a waste. It means I was a dumbass for different reasons and no book could've taught me otherwise.

I might be "enlightened" but that would be someone else's opinion, not my own. The post was meant to describe a specific context and belief. There are many other paradoxes in those kinds of statements and belief types, in some cases, being enlightened is not perceived as being enlightened, because one thinks of being enlightened and is therefore un-enlightened because of attachment to thought. You made your decisions to work out, but only you can decide if that was the right decision in the long run. I havent experienced what your talking about in the second paragraph at all and ive definitely done that. I definitely think im more heightened when im sleep deprived and taking kratom or whatever and ive done some of my best "work" in that state but I realize after that it came at a cost and I did not in fact better retain anything at all I just was so cracked I couldnt do anything but fixate on what was in front of me. Theres a good reason that isnt the norm, you would lose track of a number of things that maybe arent as engaging or even painful to think about but that you need to. Self doubts, whether what you are doing is even what you want to be doing, if you are treating others well, checking in with those close to you, etc. Personally ive never met anyone with this body as a limiter mindset who didnt in reality have 500 problems they were just hoping to ignore for the rest of their life. Things being more difficult than they really are and being taxing on your body is just a sort of anxiety, it is you getting in the way not your body. In fact its probably in part you not listening to your body, you offload the worries and concerns as not your problem and something to push through and the body pays the price. When really it is you, you can abstract it and sequester it wherever you like in your mind and yet you still wont push past your body. Your talking a lot about obstacles being in the mind but you think this way and see your body as an obstacle. What is it you even think you are meant to be doing that your body is getting in the way of, why is what you do best when sleep deprived even important. Personally I wouldnt trust a sleep deprived person to know whats best for themselves at all or to know whats important work, data shows they drive a car like they are drunk. Sometimes you spend a lot of time working hard for absolutely no reason at all and there is no meaning to it you did it all for nothing in the end. Has anyone else confirmed that all the times you thought you learned way better sleep deprived you actually were? How do you know you wouldnt have learned better not sleep deprived, maybe you just feel like you did because you were more interested and engaged when your mind didnt have the energy to wander. Which isnt your body, thats you not being able to focus. Its clear as day to me thats whats going on when I try what you are saying, because I have. Ive never been under the delusion I learn better sleep deprived I just am trying to escape things that are a part of me by being in that state, I absolutely learn better well slept. Id say everyone does, you arent a very good judge of yourself when you arent sleeping.

>>82878 >These types don't realize that their bodies are limiting them for a reason. No. Everyone knows all that. What I'm saying is literal, and as stated. The body and mind are apparently some sort of energetic sink or drain, they're "limiters" or "governers" as some have taken to calling them. The reason for this is very simple, reality needs to be consistent and believeable. Accordingly, the way they limit you is also braindead simple. It just looks at the ratio between sensory input, motor output, and proprioception, and then locks your manner and rate of perception to that. If you can get the body and mind, ie the psychophysical "garment" "off" of "you", then your actual pbasis of thought and experience are free to run at full speed. They aren't limited or governed by the body and you're basically like Neo in the Matrix, MINUS the body being able to keep up. The physical body can't keep up, which is why you're limited. If you decouple those systems described previously and allow them to function as they actually are, in a desync'd state, then you're left sending signals to your body and having to wait for what seems like minutes for them to start happening. You can watch a paintball whizz passed your head in slow motion, every detail on it (ie it nullifies the other illusion meant to make reality believeable, motion blur, ie flicker fusion threshold which is total bullshit to begin with given that the unconscious mind sees anything subliminal that you hide in that anyway because it isn't subject to any of this limiter bullshit) however your body won't move in realtime. So it wants this be believeable and engaging, therefore there is an aspect of you (unconscious mind) that sees and runs closer to full speed, and then the aspect you live through, the conscious mind, which is sync'd to motor output, prone to desiring linear cause and effect, and is overall relatively stupid as well as worthless and in the way. That's hard to accept when you've been programmed to think your conscious decision making is the driver of events in your life (it isn't), but the effectiveness of things like placebo and nocebo, hypnotic effects, somnambulists performing feats they never learned and that the person could not do while awake. All of this makes it obvious what the body really is and what's really going on here.

>>83123 >>83124 wonder if it has something to do with keeping the site small enough to either: encourage less pizza trafficking move more pizza under the radar who knows what the motive is, but maybe they're just humans making up their own rules for their own website tripping over their own flaws.

>>83125 It doesn't behave like a project that grew up and got stale, there's something else. That's all I can say. The shameless and arbitrary enforcement of rules, micromanaging conversations and quietly deleting posts, also doesn't QUITE match the muh sekret club gone off the rails, nor is it a sort of attempt to reign things and refocus on some core principles. It's just weird. Creeps me out. Appleman's output is also disjointed, I don't like it at all. Don't know. Once I build up a decent "energetic signature" on the no doubt rat-faced mod that keeps deleting my sh!t, I'll subject them to prolonged psychic attack as well. Stupid prick, I was made for this.

>>83125 That's a wild accusation, and I definitely don't think it's that. Without going too far off topic, I think the cp spammer you see on various alt-chans only persists because he actually gets clicks from retarded third worlders who are stupid enough to pay for that soykaf. That or it's actually the FBI, but I doubt it. >>83126 As for the weirdness of the site, I do agree that it's odd that the mods obviously seem to be reading the threads, and often, solely because there is so little content here, that you'd think they'd get bored fast, but no, they actually monitor this place like hawks. I guess if it were my own personal project I'd be excited about it too As for the weird micromanaging aspect, I have one proposed reason for it: drugs. This place has a drugs board, and I'm not totally against drugs or anything (I used to do acid, shrooms, and heroin for a while, in that order), but oftentimes when people are on drugs you can just tell something's off. It's possible that the mods here are the types to use benzos, addies, or even soykaf like ketamine which makes them seem weird. When I quit H, I went to hang out with a good friend who was still doing H, but he kind of had his soykaf together - an apartment, a girlfriend, a job, etc., but he just seemed kind of "off", and I noticed for the first time in years how weird we were actually being all this time. It was actually a huge downer and I don't even know if he got clean. And maybe the lainmods just aren't interested in most of the soykaf we post. I just find it frustrating that so many of the threads here are very "surface level", if you know what I mean. Maybe they are mostly into the programming threads, which is the one field here I don't have enough knowledge in to really participate, but even those threads are like several years old and seem to be filled with mostly basic questions and speculative discussion. Well that's my TED talk, thanks for reading. Bye

Open the door and come inside... what you will find is what you applied. You roused inside a beast combined, where you will find all the points aligned. Come in, little moth.

>>83128 i agree its way more likely mods are on drugs, and they're not plotting anything in particular, especially not anything pizza related. concerning your heroin anecdote, i work at a grocery store, and we got a new hire. i could tell immediately he was on rocks, but for whatever reason, every single other one on staff, management included, thought he was just, i quote, "quirky". he was fired two weeks later, and it came as a shock to them. my guess is they only see the crackheads screaming and shouting directly outside the store, and have never spoken to a semi-functional junkie on their level before. word of caution to anybody interested in drugs of any kind, if it changes your state of mind, people will notice, and you will not notice that they notice.
