Is lucid dreaming worth trying?

I'm not much of a dream fan as I often skip this time since normal dreams are so pointless and make me think it's a waste of time and mental energy (and wet dreams). But many folks talk about lucid dreaming and say how powerful can it be in confronting fears and having euphoric experiences... I have tried it in the past but it's just silly to wake up and sleep again or whatever these soykaffy videos say (they don't work anyway). Have you ever been having such dreams? Does it really worth trying? Skydiving is a fuarrrking fear I suffer from I get stressed imagining myself falling while I'm about to sleep lol

I dont know im a dream lover but not always a lucid dreamer nor do I try any secret lucid dream strategy type things (aside from writing them down when I wake). My dreams are rarely pointless, when I wake up I pretty much instantly know why I had the dream. I dont have to do some deep analysis (I can for fun though and maybe find more things) there is always something instantly obvious. I recently got a new dog because of my partner and had a dream where she ran out of the house across several neighbors yards in a suburban neighborhood and I had to chase her hopping over fences across peoples yards and eventually ended up at an exes house, where a car was pulling up and I quickly grabbed the dog and ran back. I had also been thinking about this ex a lot because we were very close even post breakup but she cut me off randomly and I spent a lot of time thinking about what it is I could have done or what is it about me (ive also had many similar dreams where im not allowed to see her for some reason). There isnt some singular meaning to this dream I have to concoct, its about my fear of something happening to my dog which is something I worry about at least once a day and that worry led to this other thing where I simultaneously have this desire to see said ex but also this shame and fear that they dont want to see me and so in the dream I couldnt be caught in their yard. This was all immediately clear, I could think about it longer about how these two fears are connected around loneliness or loss and if I wanted to really think about it I could think about why was I in a suburban neighborhood when I have never lived in one. I dont really know what people mean when they say their dreams are nonsense or dont seem to mean anything I get the impression they just arent being honest with themselves but I also try not to be cynical cause I have a good friend who says he doesnt see the value in dreams at all and hes someone I like a lot and seems to have his head on straight. I feel like in general people just approach it all wrong and say think what I just said about that dream I had is like a "well thats obvious" but if they had a similar dream they wouldnt see how its obvious for their situation or may just not even remember the details that are obvious to their situation. I can often tell when other people tell them their dreams about me whats going on. I have a friend who tells me every now and then how they had some dream about me and the circumstances vary wildly but it always involves me doing something they dont want me to and them freaking out and me just sort of laughing about it and not taking it seriously. They dont even see that theme but I do and its true I often want to do things by myself my way even if somebody has some better idea about how they could help. The dream is just an extreme of how they feel with me in those moments where say maybe they work at a bar and are asking why I dont come to their bar even though they know I like going to bars. And this frustrating dilemna for them where im telling them its not personal and I just like doing my own thing and they cant understand why I wouldnt just come to the bar they work at when I dont seem to have any problems with it. Their actual dream though might be like im playing with a knife and they are telling me to stop but I wont and everyone else is laughing at them (the dreamer) for freaking out about me playing with the knife. If they were real about themselves and how they feel about me in my head I feel like theyd see how I do in reality maybe make them feel how they did in that dream just less extreme all the time. A lot of times when I say this people are like "well I had a dream I was eating golden vegetable sticks and a man came and offered to take me through a portal to hell and I denied it and then he dissapeared and suddenly I was being chased" and to be honest those are just not the details of the dream I would probably emphasize in my mind. Id probably maybe notice how the excitement with these golden vegetable sticks was interrupted by a man telling me to take a portal to hell which is somethinh that happens to me in real life a lot where im frustrated with people interrupting me cause I feel like every moment of happiness I get I have to capitalize on and any interruption ruins it and then im faced with the horror of my own thoughts im maybe having trouble handling at the moment or something. Like just for example. Id remember the feelings I was feeling presented in the dreams and those I feel like are universally instantly familiar and recognizable as something im going through or remembering or havent thought about in awhile or longing for. The other stuff about why vegetable sticks or how it all ties together is the interprative part but for some reason people always immediately pay attention to that instead of just first thinking about how the dream intuitively relates to things they feel. To get a little interprative I feel like most of the content in the dream is just there to push a narrative around feelings and very deep beliefs forward. Like your brain wants to dream about a scenario that brings you peace and in order to do that it just goes how about an island and the water is green but the atmosphere is peaceful and its a place you can enjoy yourself theres trees they have yellow leaves. Its interesting to think about why our brain instantly went to green water and yellow leaves or why maybe the tree looked more like a lamp post and there is probably reasons why that are meaningful but that isnt really the main thing, yet thats what people will latch onto because I guess its fascinating or something or odd or novel. Instead of that their brain for whatever reason was trying to bring them peace at night and thinking about what it was that was so peaceful about this scenario for them or what it generally reminded them of. That could bring you real world answers about what makes you feel at peace in life, and thats the benefit of dreams. We can pile all of this stuff on top in our heads about how we arent actually worried about x or how we actually care about y more but dreams make it impossible to avoid what you truly like, dont like, whats bothering you, what makes you feel this or that. But my friend I mentioned earlier for example says he just is always honest about that with himself and he doesnt remember his dreams much in any important way, and sometimes off his behaviour im inclined to believe him (other times im not). Point is I cant say for sure you need dreams, I need them for sure they are a huge reflective thing for me that helps me decide what it is I truly care about or want to do next in my life. But maybe you dont, maybe thats a faculty you already have consciously.
