Chronic Illness
Roy Batty · 2023-11-13 21:18
This is a thread for talking about chronic illness. I have type one diabetes and I hate it. I must always have this little patch on me that measures the level of glucose in my blood, and I had to quit BJJ because people kept accidentally ripping it off. I have to change it every 14 days. It costs a bit of money, and I have to go to the doctor all the time to get more blood glucose monitoring stuff, and insulin to decrease the level of glucose in my blood. What I think most non-diabetics don't know is that I constantly have to check the level of glucose in my blood, and if too low, eat a Welch's Fruit snacks, and if too high inject insulin. I could go on about how annoying it is, but I won't, as I don't want to inflict any more second hand suffering on anyone reading this. They say there will be a cure within the next five years, but they have been saying that for the past fifty years. Apparently they started saying that to newly diagnosed diabetics to prevent them from anhero-ing, but now they really mean it. I was diagnosed five years ago, and if I thought there wouldn't be a cure in the next five years, I'd kill myself right now (am serious).

Some peoples have had positive experiences reversing diabeetus by reducing their carbohydrate intake, in some cases removing carbohydrates entirely and just eating fatty meats.

that's probably for type II diabetes, he has type 1, type 1 isn't even really like diabetes, it's caused by an autoimmune disorder, the body attacks the pancreas which negatively affects insulin levels in the body and can lead to hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia, the result is diabetes but the cause is not the same

TSMT. I hate that type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes are considered two types of the same disease. Type one you just get it by random chance (and genetics) and you have it forever. Type two you get it from eating a high carb diet and you have it until you stop eating so much carbohydrates.
Motoko Kusanagi · 2023-11-14 12:22

It's also possible to treat type 2 diabetes with a high-carb diet:
https://core.ac.uk/download/pdf/223237794.pdf
But OP has type 1 diabetes so none of this information is useful.
I have brain damage because I survived a suicide attempt. The only reason I haven't tried to finish the job is because I know it'll only get worse if I fuarrrk it up again.

By massively reducing carb intake and getting to like 4% body fat.
Cowboy · 2023-11-14 15:29
there was some automatic insulin device diabetes patients build open source for themself but corpo claimed unsafe and stole the tech to resell at 2-3k. I bet you can still find the open source version though. (heard the story only due corp stealing it) Or you might get it over health insurance perhaps. Either way might be relevant and interesting to you.

I have fibromyalgia, so I am just in low level pain, all the time, forever until I die. That on top of being bipolar

That was a project in which they took older, more hackable insulin pumps and synced them with their CGMs. Functionally, an automatic external pancreas. But this is verboten as it cuts pharma and big tech out of the loop. Treatment is not the primary concern; money is. As far as I know there is still no commercial medical device that has this capability because fuarrrk you.
>>75717
Speaking of CGMs! You know you don't have to use one? I have several issues with them:
1. They broadcast the unencrypted device name for anyone to collect. Stores, the government, random weirdos, and your workplace will know you are a type 1 diabetic. Personally, I have been fired from a job before immediately after they found out I was a diabetic. This is illegal, but they do it anyway via standard HR practices. Never again.
2. Your biodata is not secure. If you read the EULA on CGMs you'll see that although the manufacturer is not legally allowed to de-anonymize your data, they send it through a 3rd party who is. This is deeply sinister.
3. They do not work out well for people such as yourself with highly physical hobbies or occupations. See, you're at a point where you've given up a physical sport because it's an encumbrance. This is a worse outcome than using a finger stick glucose monitor because regular exercise (and mental health from it) is one of the cruxes of disease management. The ads of people running and soykaf with the fuarrrking things on their arms are propaganda.
4. Cost.
5. If your endo isn't frustrated by you, or even hates, you're doing it wrong.

I am too old, and too lazy to look for sources, but I believe the gist of it was that during the "honeymoon" phase of the onset of type 1 diabetes a very strict ketogenic intervention diet elongated the time of (reduced) pancreatic function from months to years, allowing the patient to either forego insulin therapy, or to have a much reduced dosage.
This flies in the face of conventional treatment because the medical establishment has had a robotic hard-on for high-carbohydrate diets for over 50 years. However, low-carb/ketogenic diets reverse type 2 and make type 1 management easy mode. I'm no longer shocked about the rift between medical practices and patient outcomes after watching the sh1tshow of the last few years.

Onions help. I'm quoting science papers here, and nobody wants to hear it because obviously it's not going to work unless you put the onion in a fuarrrking capsule and make you gat a prescription for it, but onions. And no, I'm not talking about s o y b e a n s, I'm talking about actual onions.

My friend was in the Gulf War and she inhaled some sarin gas and that was over 30 years ago and she still has severe chronic pain lol. Plus she's super christian and she keeps telling me God is merciful but "severe chronic pain for decades" doesn't really come to mind when I think of the word "mercy".

relative has it too so i digged around net, supposedly it can be just hidden chronic borelia from a thick bite. There is a patient forum where they discuss it and they had a solution based on the asumption its chronic borelia too. Worked for some but not for others. Perhaps cause it simply wasnt the same cause for everyone.

At least going to Gulf war was kind of her choice so she got what she asked for, unless she was just in military for money or education before it came up. By chance is she a smoker?

My driver's liscense marks me as an organ donor, but I'm going to undo that when I renew it. Organ donation recipients have to take immunosuppressants, and taking immunosuprressants is a fate worse than death. By providing them my organs, I provide an opportunity for them to make the wrong decision.

And because some people take prescription opioids for the psychoactive effect, the U.S.gay government encouraged doctors to stop prescribing them to people like you, who need them for the physiological effect. You should still try to get a prescription anyways, some doctors still prescribe.

Your reasoning is pretty bad. They choose it themselves and they can always just stop taking them if they want. Also opioids dont fix anything and people build a tolerance.

>They choose it themselves
Which is why I am forcing them to make a better choice
Please work on your reading comprehension (picrel)

They relieve pain, dumbass
>and people build a tolerance
Very slowly and over time

There is no reading comprehension problem. You have a logic problem. You aren't forcing anything they will just an organ from someone else if they don't die first though not every organ is for something that is life saving. For example cornea transplants.
Yes opioids are a pain reliever but I meant they dont fix the underlying problem that causes the pain in any condition, at least not any currently on the market. So opioids can only go so far for chronic conditions. There is an opioid in development that helps enhance healing though that's more for injuries and it's only early stages of development. Suggesting opioids to someone that described "low level pain" is unhelpful. It's not any new information that anyone would already have.

When I was a child I was hit by a truck and landed on my forehead. I haven't been able to think clearly since. I get aches and pains and can't sleep. My brain gets foggy sometimes and my thoughts are fuarrrked. Is there any way to repair this?
Nemissa · 2023-11-19 22:30
We cured diabetes in a rat, or a monkey, or a tuna, or some other animal other than a human
Cereal Killer · 2023-11-21 01:03
Man made aberrations like canola oil & seed oils in general are a huge contributor to chronic illness.
Among other "must not be questioned" topics.
It's like how the romans had lead in their water pipes, current nations are playing with fire and pretending they're wise & above questioning.

Well said. I've personally benefited massively from religiously avoiding PUFAs in my diet, and it's something I recommend to all depressives.

I honestly don't even know if I have anything because I've lived a secluded life and never seen a doctor, I have issues from time to time and at this point I might have gotten used to most of them and can't really point out what's wrong with me

I'm probably going to get autoimmune Hashimoto's thyroiditis in few years because my mom has it and I had a hyperthyroidism episode and I read that autoimmune thyroiditis can manifest as brief hyperthyroidism before the onset of full-blown autoimmune thyroiditis and hypothyroidism.
I also have schizophrenia. The meds suck and they have really bad side-effects and they just barely work but I don't know any other way of making my mental health better (if someone you know or you has similar problem, I recommend that you avoid Zyprexa and Seroquel if you can because they make you very sleepy and you will gain a ton of weight). For me personally, the only med that's bearable is old drug called "perphenazine". I also take Trintellix/Brintellix/Vortioxetine (the antidepressant is mainly for the negative symptoms). The meds don't help with the negative symptoms (I have tried a ton of different antipsychotics). I think Vortioxetine (a antidepressant) may help a little.
I hope that CBD (from cannabis) will be researched more in the future because it apparently has antipsychotics and anticonvulsant effects.

Thyroid problems have a link with schizophrenia and they can mimic the symptoms.
Everyone is different, different meds work better or worse for some people. I dont think there even is just one cause of schizophrenia which is why different meds do better or worse.
You need to get off caffeine if you can, it has a negative effect on schizophrenia but dont go cold turkey wean off it. CBD isn't that promising for schizophrenia otherwise I would hear about it way more. CBD also possibly modulates thyroid function but it inhibits cytochrome p450 so it interacts with various medications. What most talk about for alternative stuff is sarcosine. From what ive read the side effects of D2 partial agonist antipsychotics arent as bad as D2 antagonist antipsychotics. There is newer drugs in development TAAR1 agonists which reportedly barely have side effects but it's going to take time before they get approved.

modifying diet can lead to improvement. Basic idea is allergic reaction causes inflammation which also affects brain. The downside is it might take extreme restrictions to fix it by changing diet like no sugar or carbs. Thyroid can also get a boost from right food.

There is a great way to reduce how annoying T1 diabetes is: Only eat carbs once per day, like in the morning.

you obviously are not serious about finding a cure for your disease, if you were you would try all of these before offing yourself
meaning, you are not serious about offing yourself, you just like being prissy, and if there was no T1D you would be prissy about something else
