I never understood the people who said "as long as I am doing it in privacy of my bedtoom why should you care?" as an argument. As if privacy stops us from judging their horrible sinful ways. Would it be illegal if you diddled kids or cooked meth while you were "in the privacy of your home"? Would it be any less harmful to society? "Why should you care? It doesn't involve you!" Is the most damaging line you can utter, and it makes people more individualistic and unwilling to help in the future.

>Would it be illegal if you diddled kids or cooked meth while you were "in the privacy of your home"? It would be unethical to diddle kids because you are harming a person who isn't cognizant enough to consent. That is different from consensual sex between adults, no matter how taboo that sex is. As for meth, it is totally ethical to cook meth for your own consumption if you only do so within your own home and never leave (hence never becoming a threat to others). Most meth cooks sell or distribute it though and many meth users go out and cause a ruckus while high.

>>72694 >>72694 >you are harming a person who isn't cognizant enough to consent But they are cognizant enough to change their gender even though they can't have a tattoo? Seems a lot of hypocrisy the LGBT community is having >As for meth, it is totally ethical to cook meth for your own consumption Logically that makes no sense? "Who are you to tell me what to do with my body" was an argument of feminists in regards of abortion, but it can easily be equated to drug users. Why can't a manufacturer sell me a drug? It is up to me to decide to put it in my body no?

>>72695 >But they are cognizant enough to change their gender even though they can't have a tattoo? Nobody has said that in this thread. >Why can't a manufacturer sell me a drug? Because if they do so they are knowingly encouraging you to do something that will harm you and the people around you. >It is up to me to decide to put it in my body no? Sure, you can decide to take meth, but the moment you start harming others it becomes bad. This is qualitatively different from abortion, most often abortion is weighing the future strife of the mother against the (uncertain) future pleasure of the infant, whereas if you take meth you are creating pleasure for yourself at the possible expense of basically everyone around you.

>>72691 The same handful of fuarrrkers keep posting the same handful of posts that better belong on 4chan pol. For the love of lain, can be bring /hum/ back to when it was about philosophy and personal stuff instead of becoming yet another satelite site for political bots to regurgitate the same trite bullsoykaf over and over again? Please lains, don't respond to this thread, please just let soykaf like this die so /hum/ can be human again!?

>>72698 This was ages ago. People have been asking to remove /hum/ever since it started for this very same reason, but lainchan has politics at it's core. On one hand, it makes a lot of sense, lately I feel that the centre of gravity has shifted from /λ/ to /hum/*, but on the other hand, perhaps 99.9% of people are incapable of level-headed discussion when it comes to politikz and also because imageboard culture is intimately tied with alt-right politix. *this may be my own perception based on my own change of focus but I do remember people would often say they mostly came for the programming board whereas now it barely gets any traffic. This one, on the other hand...

>>72700 To be fair anyone can soykafpost here thinking their opinion is valid easily but more understand they are filtered by coding or simply find it boring. So its natural you will always have more traffic on soykaf like this. Same time i feel hum is just a den of misery for most part. Majority is just heres why life is soykaf posts.

>>72700 [cont.] Funny enough, every free software group I've met irl has been mostly left-leaning, you know, copyLEFT and whatnot. But here we have right-leaning imageboard people advocating for free software and against corpo control of the internet, an interesting breed to be sure. At the beginning there was a bit of an anarchist presence here on lainchan, but I guess those guys were crowded out and we are left with the usual breed of ib users.

>>72702 >Funny enough, every free software group I've met irl has been mostly left-leaning, you know, copyLEFT and whatnot. I can't say that the free software fanatics I've met IRL were left leaning, but they also don't tend to lean right at all. There have recently been a large influx of what I would describe as 'radlibs' in free software spaces. >At the beginning there was a bit of an anarchist presence here on lainchan, but I guess those guys were crowded out and we are left with the usual breed of ib users. mostly.
