Seeking Meatspace Connections We're here fostering our digital community, but what of meatspace? Don't dox yourself, but it would be good for us to try fostering connections beyond the computer screen. Are there local community events you would like to meet up with fellow lains? Do you want to create a community for fellow lains in meatspace? Be wary and don't dox yourself; a meaningful connection beyond the screen isn't worth risking harm. I'll start. Any Lains on the East Coast of Canada?

I'm in St. John's actually. The last time there was one of those web map things where Lains posted their flags, there wasn't anyone within 2000 km of here.

You should look into the hacker conferences. There are usually a few lains who go. I know there are people going to Steelcon, EMF (both UK) and HOPE (NYC) this year.

I can't afford to attend conferences, I'm basically in the sphincter of the plan^H^H^H^H country.

lains are a furtive bunch, in person it's about what you'd expect.
