>>63546 I'm unhappy. I've written twenty-three articles on my website so far, have made good progress with learning Latin, and have finished a few programs I've wanted to write for a decent ways. There's always more work, however, and the high of finishing it dies within days. Only learning Latin has given unto me a deep and lasting joy.

my first "real" work I've been looking for a good job for a while, since before I graduated from university (I majored in psychology). I managed to pass a public contest, in a position that is not in my area but pays well, I'm managing to help my family and follow up with my projects.
Linda Lee · 2022-10-23 22:24

>>63560 There probably are, but that's not what interested me. I want to free my mind from English thought. I want to be able to think in another language. I want to expand my mind. Regardless, an older reason, from my first attempt at learning Latin through university, was to improve the English I spoke, and it has done this. Learning Latin has improved my general language skills. There are so many words we uncritically accept whose etymology we don't question; an awful lot of them are Latin. I've been disillusioned with history, but I'm slowly being reillusioned with history, by reading the ancient stories in their native language. The stories of Theseus and the Minotaur, of Daedalus and Icarus are more real than some of the history I was taught in school, because I know some of what I was taught in school are lies. It's fun. I want to learn ancient Greek later. >>63561 I'm only interested in classical Latin right now.

>>63546 I definitely can't say that I'm "happy". I have done a few personal accomplishments this year. I've given up smoking cigarettes, weed, and alcohol. I stopped using a cell phone all together. Threw the damn thing in a fire and didn't look back. I bought a landline and started living my life more as a minimalist. Stopped caring about what others thought of me and am focusing on my own life and personal goals. Of course this hasn't had but it's own set of reactionary issues as I don't have any friends anymore. My last friend decided that because I refused to use Discord he wasn't going to associate with me anymore. Emailing me was too inconvenient to continue our conversations and he didn't like my privacy measures of using encryption to message each other about more sensitive subjects. Flat out called me a "schizophrenic conspiracy theorist" for caring about privacy. No matter, I'm going to be myself and not sell out to peer pressure against my own judgment. I do hope to one day find like minded individuals to get along with. Maybe even build up enough trust to call them, "friends".

I'm happy. Last year I got my first gf and we're still going strong. She's really changed my outlook for the better. As for my achievements this year? I started running regularly and doing local races (got 42/500 on the last 5k), I've slowly been adjusting my diet for the better (still got a ways to go, but I'm conscious of what I eat), and I stopped playing videogames (though this is more out of necessity because I simply don't have time as I'm wrapping up my graduate studies). Xenoblade 3 (pic related) was the last game I played before selling my consoles and it was a great way to go out as a fan of the series for over a decade. Future goals for the year? Start doing more weight workouts so I can stop being skeleton mode, and find a new job before graduation in 2 months. We'll see what happens.

>are you happy? I think so, honestly, which kind of surprises me. At some point I realised that having your happiness depend on your actions is kind of a toxic relationship, like "oh I can only be happy after I achieve this" or something. Furthermore, when you realise that you're more likely to achieve something if you are happy in the first place, and don't make your happiness depend on it, then even if your only goal is making that achievement, it makes sense to be happy for "no reason" as an intermediary step. Realising that being happy makes everything else easier let me give myself permission to be happy for no reason, I guess. So yeah, lots of things aren't great, but I'm mostly happy. >what is your best personal achievement in this year I don't think I did anything specific, but I feel like I made personal progress or so. One year ago is a long time... I have some projects that I'm working on, and I've been writing a medium amount, so I'm proud of that. I drew a couple tiny pixelart pictures, found a bug in a famously stable/correct library. A few scattered things like this. I'm getting there :) Next step is learning enough that I can do something worthwhile over the summer. I've got about 4 months for that so I'm not sure how well that will go. I think I can learn that quickly but I don't think the rest of my life circumstances will make it doable. But circumstances can change, I can meet new people, etc. Nothing is forever.

This year has been worse than miserable, it has been utterly crushing for me personally. I was lucky enough to get away with as few losses as i did and somewhat be in a position to recover. But i just dont feel like i can or want to get up after any of this again. It keeps getting worse and worse all day every day in every way and life has become as bad a hell of its own as ever, i and my other friends are at ropes end with no way out in sight. Taking the least painfull way out with the lead medicing has never seemed this tempting and reasonable.

This year has been a year I have dedicated to self improvement. I started in March, co-inciding with my 24th birthday. As such, my "year" truly doesn't end until March but I will contribute with the intent of giving hope to all you other lanions. I had lived most of the Spring and the Summer to a daily schedule which I kept. I was 210lbs when I began this persuit. I got down to 130lbs. Thanks to winter, I am now 160lbs. I had dedicated time to unfucking my mind, practicing brahmachya, and study. I had spent a long time replenishing my finances after a hard fall and working a job that built up my temperance. After that, I found a high paying ob that I call a career. After doing many things that were akin to Hindu practices, I found the lord and savior Jesus Christ and continue my studies of the entire Abrahamic Canon. I have spent a lot of time self-psychoanylizing myself and working towards many, many things. I have reached a state I should have already been at, and am exceeding this. Thanks to the Law of Attraction I am wealthy, I am abundant, I am rich, and I am prosperous. I have finally overcome so much of the pain of my past, and I have finally overcome so much of the recent hardships. I have unfucked myself after years of abuse and neglect brought me to be a crazy hobo with a computer. I repeat the Coolierism "Everyday, in every-way, I am getting better and better." which I may confidently say with proof of this matter. I have met many new persons and friends, I have explored the depths of my mind, I have overall changed my life for the better. This was thus far the best year of my life (to end in March), and I believe that once I turn Quarter-of-a-Century Old that will be even better than this year!

I don't care about any of the personal achievements because they don't matter. I have no friends. Haven't had one in years and the ones that I had I ended up pushing them away because I realized I didn't want to hang out with them anymore. I'm weird and don't fit in anywhere. Usually, people like me are very good at something and they obsessively pursue it and that kind of offsets their weirdness but I'm not like that. There is no justification for my existence.

>are you happy No. I'm not happy despite everything in my life going well. I'm taking a year off from school for an internship and I can now confirm my previous suspicions about the work life being cancerous. Even outside of that I've been more social than ever, hanging out with friends both old and new in hopes of finding something I actually like but while most of the time I don't mind in the moment afterwards when I'm not exhausted I'll lay in bed and hate how I spent my day and also think about how it's distracting me from thinking clearly. It's not that I don't really like my friends either its just the whole idea of being with people. I don't mind socializing at work but on my own time I want to be alone, not keeping up images for my family or wasting my life pretending to have fun. I've even found my ideal girl earlier this year and we both eventually admitted our love for each other. For the first month or two I was very happy and had no negative thoughts. But then all it took was one trigger for me to have a breakdown and even though she was insisting she was ok with it, I felt that I was not in the mind state to be able to responsibly be close to another person. I don't feel bad about leaving her but now I've confirmed that even love can't save me from this curse. I'm only 22 and I just can't see myself ever being able to live and be happy or ever having a family. I'm probably very put together from an external perspective and I do feel that way at times but the thoughts will always come back and I'm so sick and tired of living as a fraud. I wish one day I just didn't wake up and that no one would feel bad about the way I passed.

That college will be my time to shine. Or that when I'm free and independent that'll be my time. Always postponing it sayings that's when things will get better.well now I'm at the age nobody can say that to me anymore. I'm a NEET misanthrope with no ability to interact with the world. Maybe instead of complimenting me and calling me smart and comforting me someone should have fuarrrking taught me something. It's too late. Everyday the world shrinks. The internet that use to signify freedom. It was a trick. The internet is like a global city. It's just concrete blocks from which there is no escape. Im tired of living. Im tired of people. Im tired of the strange little politics and gossipping. I've never cared about anyones opinion but my own. Im tired of the cycle of eating and soykafting. I wish I was a robot free from that. I would gladly give up my sense of smell taste touch in order to not have to eat and soykaf anymore That's all my life is. Eat and soykaf. All I can think about is shooting myself.

I graduated college and got a job almost right after. It doesn't have anything to do with my major, but it's a salaried position and it's pretty fun and opened some creative outlets for me.

>are you happy? No >what is your best personal achievement in this year Absolutely nothing. I am miserable, I have nothing, I am nothing, I will be nothing. Realizing that probably is the only thing I achieved this year. Every year is getting worse than the last one. I hope you lainanons are better.
Armitage · 2022-12-31 15:09
>>63546 I don't know what I am. My parents say I'm happy, but I'm just bored of everything. I don't really associate with my family anymore because they are too normee. My two sisters are pretty successful, one of them got multiple engineering degrees and married her highschool BF. They moved to California, but have turned into total liberal normans. My other sister is in her 20s and studied to be a biologist, but now models for a tradcore clothing brand. Shes probably autistic, and only seems interested in playing her piano and fashion design. to be honest shes probably a few animals away from being an autistic cat lady. Pic rel is pretty close example to her looks, I don't even know who wears this stuff tho, but at least she is happy. My brother turned into chad thundercock and spends his time hooking up with anything that moves, going to parties, and going to the gym. Basically wasted his years at a university getting the easiest degree he could. Here I am, posting on lainchan on New Years day. I work as a private investigator, a far cry from my siblings. I'm not unhappy with my decisions, but I'm not fulfilled. Sorry for the blog post. >what is your best personal achievement in this year I helped take down a pretty notorious criminal. Not going to get into too many details, but my client had me investigate someones computer, and I dug up a bunch of stuff he thought he hid. After following a few leads, I found he was involved in a human trafficking scheme.

>>65904 I wish I could be Investigator. You must be pretty smart
Jane Doe · 2023-01-02 20:34
>>65906 Its not hard, anyone can do it. Your job consists of doxxing people or just generally getting paid to stalk people. I'm not going to paint a glamorous picture of it. I specialize in cybercrime/computer investigations, which is good money, but you just have to be good at finding clues and being attentive. Networking helps too, so being able to talk to people is more important than being "smart".
Nobody important · 2023-01-02 20:58
>>65936 Im bad at computer and tech stuff so I don't think that's an option. Not good at taking either. I'm just fuarrrked
sage · 2023-01-02 21:13
>>65937 Don't be so self defeating. There are plenty of different types of private investigators, and there are schools that teach you everything you need to know. You can do anything from VIP security to repossessing/bounty hunting, or serving subpoenas. If you can post walls of text on lainchan, you have enough writing and computer skill. Make it your achievement for 2023!

>>65904 Is this your sister? Wow, she is a real beauty. I would do lots of things i wouldn't do otherwise, for a woman like her.

>>65936 lainon, are there PI jobs for people that want to remain anonymous? For example, like bounty hunting website? I am mostly interested in the technical side of things.
Pulse · 2023-01-26 22:44
>>66407 I would just love to have a job where I could have full privacy and either use a psudeonym or remain anonymous. I don't really give a soykaf what it is.

>>63546 In 2022. I >Took my first art class since 2019 thank you covid >Went to see Sonic 2 in theaters >Built a small entertainment center in my room made entirely of thrifted items (the TV was the main centerpiece, probably my best purchase of the year) >Discovered Dall-E Mini, Stable Diffusion, and its finetunes (Waifu Diffusion, Anything V3, etc.) >Returned a lost dog to its owner >Found a cat for my uncle >Bought a new dog for myself Overall my favorite part was probably the TV. It was a really great purchase for the price. Of course Stable Diffusion is something I still use a lot very frequently and came as a nice treat after fooling around with Dall-E Mini and other AI generated art tools for months. Overall last year honestly kind of sucked. I've been praying that this year will be better but so far only with limited results. I hope one day I can be happy again.

>>66437 Is this image AI generated? You posted these in quite a few threads lol. By the way would you share some cool AI things that you found? I just started looking at those
The Oracle · 2023-01-28 20:09
>>66444 Sorry. I know 4chan has rules about using an avatar or whatever but these are the only images I really have lying around sometimes. Two of them I mentioned, Waifu Diffusion and Anything V3. They are both really good at generating anime images, but also western cartoons and even a bit of realism with the right prompts. I use https://huggingface.co/spaces/anzorq/finetuned_diffusion Unfortunately the author of V3 took it down for some reason and then reuploaded it so it may be a while before it's usable again. I guess I was also kind of exaggerating, last year could've been better for me but I guess it wasn't terrible. If nothing else I really enjoyed working with my team and all of the fun customers I've met over the past year.
Ishikura "Tatsu" Tatsuhiko · 2023-01-28 20:14
I didn't kill myself, so that is a plus I guess. Actually this is kind of a depressing question for me. I haven't accomplished soykaf.
Shogun · 2023-01-28 20:20
>>66453 I'm sure that isn't true. You probably accomplished a lot more than you think you did. Even if it was something small, it still counts.
Crazy Jake · 2023-01-28 22:33
>>66452 This site is kind of cool, except god forbid you want to see a cute witch girl in underwear it gives you some glitterboy 'nsfw content detected' image. In a nutshell this is everything wrong with AI, lofty morons using it to push their warped ideals and agendas on other individuals.
