biggest part of soykafholes countries still cares about religion and church's imaginary enemies, despite being extremely degenerate
So if USA turn into a soykafhole(or at least some of its states), the religion will probably grow again

The stage is set in the United States for a religious revival. Historically one has happened roughly every 30 years throughout our history, with major ones occurring roughly every 100 years. The last such major revival was the rise of Charismatic churches and Pentecostalism in the 60s. The last minor revival took place in the 1990s with televangelists and the like. The major revivals tend to coincide with periods of societal upheaval where many feel hopeless and lost and traditional modes of living seem like they are no longer realistic or obtainable. This is what I mean when I say the stage is set -- it seems to me that we are just waiting for the spark.
This time will be different, however. The internet has assured that a multitude of belief systems have presented themselves for people to consider. From the Social Justice movement to Kekism (I don't know if this particular movement still exists, I am using Kekism as a shorthand for the 4chan /pol/ hivemind that has spread throughout the internet.) to a resurgence in Norse Paganism to Radical Anarcho-Capitalism ( I know that this is technically a political movement but it's the same as Social Justice -- its adherents have a religious devotion to it) to all sorts of Christianity to worship of brands such as Disney - and plenty more I just don't have the motivation to list (as they are mostly offshoots of the new-age movement) - the religious landscape in the United States is as or more diverse than it has ever been in history. And plenty of people are disillusioned with the church. People may have been disillusioned with the church in ages past, but they were never presented with such a smorgasbord of alternatives.
With these two points in mind -- how do you see the future playing out? Will we simply consider to sink into moral despair and live meaningless lives? Will a new religious revival take place in the United States? What form will it take?
---
My thought is that the worship of brands and the social justice movement will combine into a new religious movement that will sweep through our cities -- it is simply the logical conclusion of what is already occurring. "To be pure you must wear only approved items and use only approved items and think only approved thoughts." This will draw in people from the countryside who agree and force those who don't share the hivemind out, as seems to be already occurring.
Rural areas will experience a new revival in fervor for Christianity with, as always, an emphasis on the protestant faiths -- the rural person's culture is just too steeped in it for it to go anywhere. Hell, Christianity as a whole is too entrenched in the American identity for it to /ever/ go anywhere. We have an entire offshoot branch of Christianity that views the Constitution as a divinely inspired document. What it will have to do is change, though, and some of my later points will address this change.
Kekism will remain strong on the internet but it will not have any strong local enclaves, short of some millionaire "cult leader" buying a compound and inviting other like-minded people to live on it. I do expect to see lots of "lone wolf" type operatives who do ascribe to that faith/ideology. New Christian movements that spring up will adopt their racialist views, at least in part, due to how many Kekists will simply default into being Christians when they realize their ability to organize en masse is hindered by the aforementioned "lone wolf" nature of their ideology.
With all due respect to Norse Pagans I don't see your movement gaining any steam or having any sort of lasting power. I could see it remaining strong in prisons and among gangs, I suppose, but I don't see it having any real teeth.
Radical AnCaps will be unable to organize effectively and, in a strange shared flaw with their leftist brothers, their movements are always prone to splintering. That said, any right-wing religious movement is going to pick up strong elements of Anarcho-Capitalist beliefs simply due to how many AnCaps will fold into other groups.
So it will become this: City dwellers who have joined a new purity cult vs. racist, freedom-loving rural christians. In a strange twist of fate Christianity has become the "paganus" that it has hated so much.
Any flaws you can point out in my predictions?

Yes. A similar thing will happen in many smaller towns, but with opposite values. Think of 'gun culture', which is quite literally a culture revolving around certain kinds of consumption. The in-group/out-group divide will become the defining feature of many peoples' lives, and I wouldn't be surprised if witch hunts came back one way or another. The most successful new brand-religions will syncretize with Christianity and other well-established religions/philosophies.
The interesting thing is that the cities and the hinterlands both economically rely on each other, so they will be forced to trade. This will create an interesting detente not unlike the current situation with the US and China.
A lot of this has already happened, btw, but I think we can expect it to accelerate as time goes on.
I'm more interested in the fringe cults to be honest. Tech/AI mysticism is getting a major foothold recently, as are numerous eco-religious doomsday cults. I think they may get much bigger and more organized in the near future. Pagan revival and 'chaos magick' etc. have always felt very LARPey to me, I think very few people seriously believe it. As a discordian it behooves me to mention that right now is the perfect time to spread the fnord.

norse paganism has appeal to all the fighting junkies because it glorifies the fight. The greatest enemy might be hollywood since they poison the lore with their soykafty movies.
Christianity likewise lost appeal cause their leadership sold out. People might continue to use it as a community tool however, as long as this benefit continues to exist people will go to church for the community and not cause they care for the religion itself.
Brand worship is just the replacement for the dunning cases bragging being too smart for religion but still looking to plug the hole of being told what to do so they join a cult that doesn't market itself as religion. This also fills the community desire same as the role of churhc, its just that they insider trade over their product on forums instead of some god.
Kekism as you see describe it is just people participating in positive nihilism with a numerology spin. Essence is instead of being sad over everything laugh and point at the absurdity. It wont go away because its just a way to handle life. Its not a cult with goals, its just a bunch of like minded people participating in the fun for funs sake. That's why it on one hand produces better memes with wider reach (fun has wide appeal) but on the other also doesn't hold a big impact as it doesn't have goals to follow.

Ive never met anyone who took norsepaganism, or any modern paganism for that matter, seriously. The people who come closest are generally post menopausal divorced women--not good stuff whence to draw a religious revival if my priors are correct. We'd sooner get some AI worshipping tech cult at this point.
At least among Americans, the only credible religions at this point are christianity and mormonism. And while its arguable that both are in some decline, if my figuring is correct among my circle about half of the children born in the last five years, are from say the 10% most religious of my acquaintances (non from neopagans, fwiw). Even if religion is on its way out for good, which I very much doubt, its not going to loose its significance in at least the next fifty years.
>>63324
>Christianity likewise lost appeal cause their leadership sold out
There's a lot of types of christianity, and there's a number of sets of leadership, and then there's God and the Bible. I don't think you should under estimate their appeal. I know enough Americans who have been willing to convert for various reasons, that it seems a strong denomination thats not sold out could gain considerable sway. And as always, the decentralized low level organizations of some denominations are at the very least quite slow to fully corrupt.
Christianity has held considerable power over our nations for nearly 2000 years, do you really think its this weak as to fall to its current enemies in the imminent future ? Maybe, but doubtful, very doubtful, imho.

philosophy loves debate and doesn't exist to force one view as the correct one on everyone while demanding dead for wrongthink.
Its been already long ago stated by many that SJW uses cult methods. First they do the if you do this you a good person and we praise you. Then they isolate people from their natural relationship circle for transgressions against their doctrine as evil so members cant rely on their social net to get out. Because once you cut off your friend cause he thinks blm was a scam, your dad cause hes a white man and your mom for being a terf you have nobody else to rely on. Then you can only rely on the cult as you have nowhere else to go. And as these people have no alternative you can get increasingly more demanding and punish them for smallest things to reinforce obedience to the cult. You can find this scheme also labeled as the cycle of abuse in literature used by psychos against their spouses. The only change to a cult is more people and collective reinforcement.
So in summary: find vulnerable people, bait with benefits, isolate , abuse isolated reliance on yourself to mold them to your whims.

They don't. Universities are compared to temples, why? Because they're both places where people learn stuff? or because they're both places where people congregate? That's completely missing the point of what religion and politics even are which is why it's hard to argue specific points because the points made are nonsense. People look at surface comparisons and use those to argue that the things involved are the same.
Think about it, if having a place where people congregate and think in similar terms is what makes something a religion then literally anything involving groups of organized people is religion: concerts are religion, bars are religion, thanksgiving meals are religion, sporting events are religion, multiplayer video games are religion and so on until you've listed every group activity engaged in by humans. Lainchan.org is the center of a new religion based on our belief that going on lainchan.org is a fun thing to do!
And you can go through with every other comparison: The imaginary enemy is oppression, why? because it's a thing that a group of people dislike? Well people standing at a bus stop dislike being late so then are bus stops the new home of a religious movement?
The whole idea that religion and politics are the same strips all the nuance from both activities.

temples are the places religion is preached and spread. SJW is preached by university as mandatory courses even for people not interested in it. Its the same nonsense as engineers in saudi arabia having mandatory islam studies as part of their degree. And lets not forget the most important part: it forces people to agree to the views of the lecturer or you don't get grades and fail your degree and thereby your career. What this amounts to is forced indoctrination. Repeat after us or face punishment. That's the function of universities - they spread new ideologies and have been used as such before US was even on the map. sjw is just the newest example of old practices.
>"politcs is religion" which was never even said.
>sjw is the new mainstream state religion
Using the church for politics doesn't make the church politics. So don't conflate a religious movement rooted in axiomatic believes with politics. Real politics are led by levelheaded realism for personal gain which they absolutely don't do.

Where middle age peasants saw everything bad as the work of the devil the modern sjw claims everything bad is the work of oppression with equal hate towards scholars providing secular reasonable causes. Convenient to believe that something else is the cause of misery to absolve yourself of responsibility.
Lets look at a practical example: They still go in circles about glass ceiling despite reasonable explanations already made decades ago. We have a generation of 40+ single career women miserable cause they believed their stories and they still hold onto trying to force more women into suicidal nolive jobs only men do for their glorious 50% representation that clearly can only be missing due oppression. So they ignore the visible outcomes of their actions and continue. What do you call a movement that rejects reality in favor of their core tenets if not a religion? What regular movement convinces its own members into self-harm?
Six · 2022-10-19 09:47

>Universities are compared to temples, why?
Read the industrial society and its future for a full explanation.
Science used to be the process of finding truth, now it is worshiped as an unquestionable God. Just like religion of the old time, scholars who have spent time learning their way in the arcanes and who dedicate their life to the thing endlessly argue about points of details that interest no one and the unwashed mass is full of vocal fanatics who will assault you for saying the lord name in vain or it's modern equivalent.
Universities are at the center of that because the people who go there obtain that smug sense of moral superiority that justify anything they can do. They have listened to some dude, so they are more intelligent than the people who don't. Don't try to explain to them that intelligence and wisdom are as independent as strength and agility or that knowledge isn't any of that. They will reject it like a medieval devout catho would reject satanism.

I would also give the exemple of the soviet union. Have faith in the doctrine of the party or you will stay a prole. We only allow goodthinkers above a certain level.

And yet they do get actual engineering degrees on top of that. If universities were places of _worship_ they would be devoted wholly to that single task, but they're massive institutions where all kinds of work is done, and all kinds of people with all kinds of opinions work there. Even universities run by Jesuits aren't churches, they contain churches. In fact almost every university in the US contains at least one christian church.
Even if we were to consider the act of pushing the sjw ideology to be religious, only a handful of departments within any university are part of that religion.
Unidentified · 2022-10-19 11:56

>they do but its not that bad
so you are at the bargaining step of denial now
Here's the simple issue with that train of thought: There is no other place preaching sjw ideology outside educational institutions. The saudis have at least regular church as an institution for islam believers but the biggest institution pushing sjw in US are the universities. So the fact is this is the sole place where it spreads from which makes it the central hub. And its growing as they have encroached upon other departments with mandatory participation increasingly more. They want to evangelize everyone to their believe system. That the entire institution didn't kneel yet is merely thanks to pushback limiting their efforts to take over.

You mean the stage of grief, of which denial is another stage.
>There is no other place preaching sjw ideology outside educational institutions.
There is a massive sjw presence outside of universities. I agree that, institutionally, universities and increasingly public schools tend to be hotbeds of sjw ideology. The same could be said of free software. However "Diversity Equity Inclusion" is already a corporate buzzword and there are several companies which you can hire to make your company more diverse etc. Plus the gay community(s) are almost always infested with sjws.
I still don't think sjw ideology is a 'religion' any more than any other political ideology. You can always make comparisons to churchlike activities, as you can with any political ideology, but their goals are 100% political rather than spiritual. There is also no word which sjws use to distinguish themselves from non-swjs, it is almost always external label much like 'fascist'.

Yes, I see the irony in these juxtaposed images. Death to Hasbro.
I'm not particularly religious, but I yearn for the celestial sisters over the evil god YHWH. The Abrahamic faiths are so cartoonishly evil that I'd rather worship Celestia and Luna. Celestia never destroyed most of the planet's population, doesn't mutilate her ponies, and seems to genuinely care for them. I don't particularly care for worshiping a dead Jew either.
The Christians who believe in that soykaf tend to be old and want to point out how Israel, despite numerous provocations against the United States, has to be helped at all costs and they stress not being racist and other things often. I'm looking forward to when my prediction that trannies get accepted on their side comes true and they feel completely lost and abandoned. Then they'll be more friendly towards conversion to some Christian-flavored Kekism or something like it.
Look at me, a man who has aged in an environment with sexism a hot topic, to the point men like me are no longer attracted to women. The modern accept degenerates form of Christianity has just led to young men rejecting it in a not dissimilar way.

the corporate presence is simply a consequence of people needing jobs and pushing collectively to make their degree relevant. You have now multiple generations of graduates that need to justify their existence and most important they landed in hr - the position to recruit which allowed to seed more of their peers into corporations as they practice nepotism due allies & enemies thinking.
And more recently you have the esg development where the largest US hedge fund backed by fed made it more or less mandatory. The funny thing is china applies same pressure with some conflicting goals. So corps now get to squirm trying to appease both.
As for practical distinction between religion or not i would say that translates for most people to "believes in unverified claims". This gives of course potential for conflict because people have different opinions on what are facts and what is fiction. The people thinking its facts will claim its science while those saying its fiction say its just a cult since its based on nothing real. And this is also perhaps why nobody sees even the ideological open source fans as cultists - They say objectively true that closed limits you so they want open. So there is no grand ideology behind it. Its just an obvious fact anyone can agree with that motivates the movement.

I thought to mention how we don't technically know what Celestia did, but she still probably committed much less evil than what we know of YHWH. People come up with all sorts of justifications for killing firstborns, mutilating baby penises, and sending bears to kill people for insulting a bald asshole. Celestia has done none of that, because of how absurdly evil it is. It's just evil.

OP here. For clarification I use these definitions for religion:
“Religion is the state of being grasped by an ultimate concern, a concern which qualifies all other concerns as preliminary and which itself contains the answer to the question of the meaning of our life.” Paul Tillich
“Religion is a system of beliefs and practices by means of which a group of people struggle with the ultimate problem of human life.” J Milton Yinger

It would be better to describe this as the culural hero-systems than as religion, which is only one of the former.
By hero-system, I mean something which suppresses the basic death-anxiety by allowing the individual to identify with a immanent power.
Nihilism results from the collapse of the traditional hero-systems, but nihilism is unsustainable, leading to mysticism, revolutionism, or reactionism.
Revolutionism is the creation of a new hero-system in accordance with a value system.
Reaction is to cling to the old dominant hero system (e.g. mostly monotheism in the west).
Mysticism follows a non-dominating hero-system, chosen capriciously or for its inscrutability, approximating an identification with chaos itself rather than a monothestic power.
Of course, an authentic embrace of chaos would the lack of a hero system itself which is tantamount to ego death. Unsurprisingly, the pursuit of ego death is a recurrent ideal in these cases, something of a "point-at-infinity" (not achievable).
It is the choice of managers and psychiatrists; comparing their esoteric knowledge to the apparently dense subordinate or patient, they imagine themselves truly enlightened but it is only a pretension.
Pantheism, esotericism, lainism all go in this category.
Ultimately the reactionary and mysticist form an alliance against the revolutionists, since they identify with the powers that be.
Touches of these 3 modalities can be seen in all the groups you have noted, but ultimately the revolutionists must win if society is avoid collapse.
The ship on montheistic religion has probably sailed. The rigid, dare I say patriarchial, world view is hard to take seriously when power in the real world operates in such a decentralized manner.
That is to say, it can serve as a fantasy for the most unhappy, but for the majority it is too crude.
Mysticism will continue to flourish, backed by corporate seminars and ever-present in media due to its aesthetic qualities (see Serial Experiments Lain).

I'm part of a group in the PNW with 500 members on the FB and at least 30 people showed up in person to be part of ritual at the last meeting.
Seems like everyone there is also on the same page as far as state of the world, etc. Gives us something to live for and believe in as there are values, virtues, honoring/celebrating your ancestors and building community. 100x more spiritual than just "showing up at church" and snoozing through some bible readings with 200 other strangers

The internet has given people the false idea that by latching onto a religion they will be given access to some secret knowledge regarding angels, demons, the time and date of the end of the world, etc. Partaking in actual religion has less to with those things and more to do with bake sales, clothing drives and making sure the bills are paid to keep the church warm in winter. Any internet inspired "revivals" will therefore remain on the internet, as the newly faithful realize that modern religion is not in fact a gateway to becoming a vampire hunter or for getting on zoom calls with the angels.
