A satisfying death?

Frank Garza · 2018-03-07 11:27
What is a "good" death or at least a satisfying one? What would your ultimate "satisfying" death be? We are all mortal, and I'm sure we all wish deep down inside that we could choose when to die. The perfect death to me, the end to my ultimately worthless legacy spent on the internet and in escapist entertainment, would be in a car accident. Someone runs a red light at high speeds and crashes directly into me, my car rolls over a few times and I'm on the brink of death but not quite dead. Emergency services rips me from my vehicle as I am in the tightening hands of death. They try everything they can, and I am dead. No worrying about last words, no worrying about things I didn't do, no worries at all. There is no fear. I didn't think I would have been hit - it just happened. Right then and there. Enough chemicals released too so I don't think it would hurt all that much also. Sorry if this kind of thread isn't appropriate for the board or there is already a thread like it.

suicide by drug overdose would be relatively good, you just get really high and sleep, then never wake up. In theory at least
Ivan Horvat · 2018-03-07 15:22
I'd prefer a quick shotgun shell to the forehead, the fastest and the least painful way to go as far as I know. The exit bag would give me too much time for doubts to manifest, and the rope would be too painful, plus the latter could fail too easily.
Apoc · 2018-03-07 15:34
I have a nice place i would like to die at, not that i am in a big rush. >>6052 Would totally go for that if i had to make a choice. What also somewhat fancies me is a violent, quick but not too quick to not expirience it death. Like getting a full drum of .357 in my chest or falling off some high place.
Frank Garza · 2018-03-07 23:28
Drinking a bottle of vodka during strong winter and going to sleep in the middle of some forest while listening to favorite music. You will even feel warm while you will be dying

I wonder if what OP meant was to learn if there was a particular satisfaction to death, or if there was an appreciation of savoring life to the end. I guess the best way to describe it would be to look at it from the perspective of a short story >the lesson of the moth i was talking to a moth the other evening he was trying to break into an electric light bulb and fry himself on the wires why do you fellows pull this stunt i asked him because it is the conventional thing for moths or why if that had been an uncovered candle instead of an electric light bulb you would now be a small unsightly cinder have you no sense plenty of it he answered but at times we get tired of using it we get bored with the routine and crave beauty and excitement fire is beautiful and we know that if we get too close it will kill us but what does that matter it is better to be happy for a moment and be burned up with beauty than to live a long time and be bored all the while so we wad all our life up into one little roll and then we shoot the roll that is what life is for it is better to be a part of beauty for one instant and then cease to exist than to exist forever and never be a part of beauty our attitude toward life is come easy go easy we are like human beings used to be before they became too civilized to enjoy themselves and before i could argue him out of his philosophy he went and immolated himself on a patent cigar lighter i do not agree with him myself i would rather have half the happiness and twice the longevity but at the same time i wish there was something i wanted as badly as he wanted to fry himself -don marquis

Tossup between peacefully passing away in my sleep at 95 or some movie-tier battlefield blaze of glory. I'm in no hurry to die and if I ever end up fighting a war I would like to avoid the second one as much as possible. I'll probably keep struggling to survive until the day I die.

Ishikura "Tatsu" Tatsuhiko · 2018-03-08 17:57
I'm not sure but i'l be happy no matter what. Despite an overwhelming desire to kill myself I overcame and i've struggled and been brave despite being a coward and i've always done what I needed to do to survive and grow and i'l be okay resting finally when it ends. Like going to bed at the end of the day not tossing and turning over poor choices and regrets. I don't know if il get old, maybe I have 40 years left maybe I have 5 maybe I don't even have a week. There is still a lot id like to do but if I die before then theres nothing to do and I tried.
Bob Arctor · 2018-03-08 19:40
I used to think of death as some sort of emotional experience, a pain relief if you will, but I changed my stance on the subject. I now see death as a scientific experiment, the last one I'll get to do. At those last moments really bizarre thing could happen, reality could assume a completely different form you have never seen or imagined before. Maybe I'll even end up in hell, but I highly doubt that, since claims made in most of the religious scripts proved to be false. I'm curious about death, but I'll let it decide when it's time for me to leave. Until my time comes I'll keep exploring and exploiting nature and try to reveal as much of its secrets as I possibly can.

>>6044 Firing squad or hanging. There's something I like about one day being ultimately held responsible to the world by my others.

If the situation ever presents I would protect anyone most importantly children. I don't know, the thought that those kids will remember me (hopefully) because i protected them from a danger it feels like a great reward for me The path to inmortality is to never be forgotten
Frank Garza · 2018-03-09 03:39
Shotgun to the head. Simple, sweet, relatively painless if you pull it off right.
Unidentified · 2018-03-16 02:23
Sacrifice is the most satisfying death. We all hate a part of ourselves, maybe more than a part. At least, I hate some of my components. Maybe I got a complex. Maybe you feel the same. There's two of you, at least. Who you want to be, and a sort of distorted version, a corrupt image that is still you, but with all the parts you dislike. In some ways, life is those two yous fighting to see who comes out on top in the end. Who gets to be the real you. Choosing to die for something you think is right takes a lot of courage, maybe some stupid. Maybe it's an idea, or a cause. Maybe it's another person. Point is, you are choosing an eternity of dreamless sleep for it. You're throwing it all away. It's liberating. All your ego, your bad habits, selfishness, the bad things you've done, it's all gone. In those moments you are the thing you will die for. It feels good, for those last moments, to be the ideal you've always wanted to be, but were too human to accomplish. Granted, you gotta believe in it. Death is a big deal. It's the Big Sleep. Don't waste it on some jerkoff bullsoykaf.

>>6044 A good death is the one that I cheat. Ideally, it occurs after sufficient warning that I can implement my preservation protocols before Ischemia sets in. "fuarrrk you death! You too shall die and I will exist to witness your demise you heartless bitch!" In any case, I would prefer my death to be slow up until my preservation protocols begin, then I would prefer to be euthanized quickly so I can get into the deep freeze in the best condition possible.

John Titor · 2018-03-17 20:42
>>6234 Embrace the beast and take everything back into yourself as your property, consume it all. And when you have finished, know yourself as the creative nothing, the void from which all concepts and ideas are born, and into which they must all return. Your are all in all, one in all and all in one, a lightning bolt in a suit of flesh. Death too is yours to own and to consume, and in turn to be consumed by. Do with it as you will.

Yodeling like crazy, riding an antimatter bomb accelerated with enriched plutonium rods in the critical mass arrangement, fused with a massive wafer of cobalt for the casing down upon the enemy. Think Major Kong from the movie Dr. Strangelove.

John Doe · 2018-08-28 01:10
To me, that would be suicide. Method of choice would be some sort of meds, probably somewhere in the woods where animals and insects would quickly find my body and make use of it. Otherwise, donating my body to science would be nice, too. Either way, I'd do it when I reach a certain age, one where dementia suddenly sets in or my limbs get noticeably weak. I'd rather die earlier and in possession of all my physical abilities than to cling to every intact piece of my body and mind. My grandpa was always a very tall and strong man and when he died of cancer a few years back, we was merely a hollow shell held together by skin and bones. That's the last picture I have of him and I don't want anyone to feel that way about me.

>>6044 checked. 44 = Death's Doors... > What would your ultimate "satisfying" death be? Almost fulfilling: I whisper the words that make the world go mad... perhaps upon my opening of the mouth ceremony, after I'm dead. Most fulfilling: I live with the goddess of hidden power, the gods of light and air, and while they ignore any pleading for assistance, I help myself to all I can. For you see, my mind is pregnant... I can either give birth to darkest monsters or brightest beauties.

I'd like to die in a revolution, fighting for what I believe in. If I don't achieve what I am demanding I'd rather die than become old wondering what I did wrong. I don't want a long live, just one in which I can say that I fought against the system and did my best to change things within the world.

Cereal Killer · 2018-09-13 03:11
Bhisma from the Mahabharata... He was fighting on the opposite side of God, because it was his duty. He fought valiantly but eventually became subdued from hundreds of arrows in his body. He was such a glorious warrior that he layed down, and said The Vishnu Sahasranam (1000 names of Vishnu) in praise of Krishna, then voluntarily let his life air go out of his body. I'll always leave the body voluntarily.
The Fin · 2018-10-18 17:54
Heroic movie-style death where I singlehandedly guard a nuclear weapon as it counts down to detonation. Not only do I get to sacrifice myself for some glorious purpose, I'll be standing right on top of that mofo when it explodes so I won't feel a thing.
Crash Override · 2018-10-18 19:28
Well, once I'm shure I'l never be happy, I wanna die young (from 35 to 45). And I think that an accident wouldn't be a satisfying death to me. My life is a piece of soykaf, I've done nothing worth my entire life, die this way would be a crap. I wanna die for a reason, for a cause, I wanna die fighting for something or someone, just like Spike Spiegel.
Linda Lee · 2018-10-18 21:20

Linda Lee · 2018-10-19 11:07
>>10343 suicide itself is inherently backed by a pretty extreme and romanticized ideology if you think about it.
Molly Millions · 2018-10-21 05:39
Other than dying after having made a positive impact enabling others to become wiser and live more fulfilling lives, it would be dying from injuries sustained after a successful battle against an enemy. I would die knowing I made an impact and that I will eventually be reborn either through my descendants or through the descendants of my relatives. I might even be reborn as a guardian spirit who will return to the living world to help guide my descendants or others. It would be kind of like the deeper meaning behind the Nordic concept of Valhöll.

>>6074 Almost exactly this. I would just add that I'd prefer it be on a completely normal day. The idea of suddenly deciding to die for a stranger has a certain appeal to me. Whether this be covering someone in a mass shooting, running into a flaming building, or even the cliche pushing someone out of the way of a vehicle. I would prefer the person I protect to be a young girl though
