Why is everyone around me so retarded?

Yu-ichi · 2022-06-29 21:09
I try to make friends but everyone around me is as dumb as bricks. It's so hard to find anyone to connect with. I go to uni and study Physics, but even the people there aren't very bright. Most listen to pop music, go clubbing, absorb their ideology from the media, etc. I've only met a handful of people I can connect with.
Random · 2022-06-29 21:31
maybe you're a retard magnet maybe you have mystic retardation fields maybe they're just pretending to be retarded maybe you're a poor judge of retardation maybe you're just in a lousy uni undergrad program and should have expected retards the world is full of fascinating possibilities aint it

Or would they be just stuffy upper class pricks?
Gyula Kovacs · 2022-06-29 22:29
>>60217 Would have been the same, perhaps a lot of stuffy upper class pricks, or genuinely interesting. It doesn't matter though, only one who matters are those handful of people you connected to. Keep them closes

>>60211 you have to learn about what your priorities are for making friendship; is music taste really the hill to die on for connecting with other people? What is really important for making connections for you? I have a hard time connecting with normals as well but most of the soykaf that you nit-pick really reflects more on you and not others.

>>60211 Preferred music genre and whether or not someone goes clubbing is not a good metric for intelligence. Ideology really isn't either, except for some of the very stupid ideologies. >I've only met a handful of people I can connect with. That's life. Most people are not going to connect with you. >I go to uni and study Physics My experience meeting a bunch of physics students was that much of the people who majored in physics were of normal intelligence, but high arrogance and unwarranted levels of self importance who chose it because "physics is for smart people." That is to say, perhaps physics students are not the best pool of people to draw from if you're trying to make intellectual friends.

>>60226 Consider the possibility of a demoralization campaign. Lately, this place reeks of PSYOPs noted in gentleperson's guide to forum spies. "I can't find any friends", "I'm so distracted", "everyone around me is idiots", "How do you cope with [insert defeatism]", etc. Followed up by "lower your expectations", "accept defeat", "First step is accepting you have problems", etc. cult of bAAl gibberish. Imagine how stupid the average person is... and half of them are stupider than that! Stupidity isn't a problem of intellect, it's a problem of good kind people believing what evil authorities tell them to... Most folk are lambs led to the slaughter, including/especially the rich culty type (anyone who can mount a substantial resistance will be roasted during the Fall of Babylon). Stupids don't want to be afraid, that's why they trust authority (and are easily controlled by them). You don't want to miss out on X, do Y... If you don't do Z, then crisis will happen / get worse. It is like kicking dead whales down the beach but it's a necessary evil, etc. etc. My tip would be to get a productive hobby, one that creates something (as opposed to just another excuse for rampant consumerism). Join a hackerspace / makerspace / men's shed, etc. for instance. The people you meet while working on a shared hobby will also share all kinds of epi-genetic trans-cultural similarities with you. It's weird as hell. Kind of like how most Perl hackers in the 90's also practiced martial arts, or hackers in general tend to like spicy foods & "exotic" cuisines. Foxes selected for being more sociable with humans will also develop droopy ears and waggy tails, just like domestic dogs. They probably will enjoy the same kinds of activities. Watch out for "rockstar" / "expert" folk at said hobby shops. Too often there will be a token person only their to look good, and false experts who (like school children) lie about having super-powers. It's fun to play the 1upmanship game "oh yeah? Well, I built a working Z80 CPU out of paper & glue that runs on rubber bands." [later, after they 1up this crap] "I was just joking to see if you'd 1up that ridiculous claim." Pretty good way to weed out un-friendlies. In the Hacker social-engineering toolbox there are things called "social filters" things you can use to passively or actively filter out folks so you can find your mark [or potential friend in this case]. Hey, here's a cool physics thing you can do to make more [or less] friends at uni OP: Shoot a laser pointer through a tiny slit a razor makes in tinfoil - close the gap back up almost all the way. You should be able to create a fringe pattern with a single slit. Ask your Physics friends if they actually believe that light (sub-structural energy) moves like water (meta structural waves) or rather - Isn't the dual slit experiment totally fuarrrking bogus? Couldn't you carefully position two slits such that the TWO fringe patterns made by each slit overlap and then just deflect [detect] one slit a little bit so that the fringe pattern is "collapsed" (covered up by each the other). Now, having ACTUALLY recreated this famous physics experiment (you haven't played with it before, right?) Play with this soykaf and see how you can "uncollapse" the "quantum waveform" by blocking a single slit with a card near the opening. Watch in horror as the detector merely causes one slit to shift its fringe back and forth when turned on and off. TL;DR: Everyone is stupid, you're stupid too, you're paying for a bullshit education in uni, fool. The Greek System is a collection of secretive cults (fraternal orders, etc.) that all swear on pain of death at their higher levels of initiation to keep certain wisdoms from you -- and you are paying them to teach you rubbish. If you join their cults, at the top you are revealed that most all of higher subjects is made of bullshit. Hint: Astronomers never try to disprove the null hypothesis. Lenses exist here on earth, but discovering refraction in the interstellar medium is forbidden, any lensing must be attributed "Gravity Lensing" or you're blackballed from academia for disproving their "god did it" "big bang" sex joke religion. Here's a good physics problem: Explain how the upper airs are able to keep up with the surface of the earth that is spinning at 1040mph. The increase in circumference traveled of those airs requires some energy to accelerate them and keep them above the spinning earth. Where does it come from, and how much is it. Is the edge velocity of the surface of earth sufficient to hold it together as it spins so fast? Isn't Eratosthenes just Earth-Thoth-ness? A guy who would eventually think about the earth is named after the god of thinking(Thoth) and Earth? How did the lensing of air modify the apparent position of the sun so that his measurements of shadows were remotely accurate to modern day earth size calculations? Hey, another experiment: Doesn't pointing a lamp at a white wall (diffuse light) cause nearby things to cast parallel shadows too, even though it's not an infinitely distant point-light? Try it and see. What shape is the desk that has a lamp on it with a stick under the lamp and another stick casting a shadow a little further away? An oblate spheroid, right? You found a handful of people to connect with? Well, then you're probably just dumb too. Maybe a bit above average smart. The actual smart people become hermits (hence "hermetic" wisdom) because you WILL NOT find a single smart person willing to admit basic bitch observations destroy their world views. Track the moon, where should it be on a new moon? It's in the heavens at dark as a crescent amidst the stars. Amun = God of Hidden Power, INVISIBILITY, and Air... Derp. Gimme a picture of the pitch black moon disc blocking out a circle of stars on the night of a new-moon (hint: it's supposed to be there amidst the stars, not always on the daytime sky, or else some freaky soykaf is going on, right? Why would it suddenly track the sun's position on that day and not those when it's a mere sliver? Beware: you try to see Luna and you'll get Lunacy, see?)

That makes no sense. If somebody is asking things like "how do I cope with defeatism" and stuff like that, then how do you infer from that that their true goal is to spread defeatism? How is asking for a solution to a problem actually a psyop to make that problem worse? If this really is a psyop, then it would be a psyop to heighten the social stresses within the society... something that many would consider a good thing. > Therefore two tasks confront those who hate the servitude to which the industrial system is reducing the human race. First, we must work to heighten the social stresses within the system so as to increase the likelihood that it will break down or be weakened sufficiently so that a revolution against it becomes possible. Second, it is necessary to develop and propagate an ideology that opposes technology and the industrial system. Such an ideology can become the basis for a revolution against industrial society if and when the system becomes sufficiently weakened. > As we stated previously, the two main tasks for the present are to promote social stress and instability in industrial society and to develop and propagate an ideology that opposes technology and the industrial system. When the system becomes sufficiently stressed and unstable, a revolution against technology may be possible. > Ted Kaczynski

Well, that and political threads. My theory is that, in anonymous social media, the inverse of the well known "only show your good side" effect from nonymous social media emerges. People whose lives are going great have no reason to talk about it anonymously (they get no clout from it) and people who are feeling misterable feel safer talking anonymously. Therefore any anonymous/pseudononymous forum that allows /vent/ing will have a tendency to appear filled with deeply unhappy people, whether they are or not. >Stupidity isn't a problem of intellect, it's a problem of good kind people believing what evil authorities tell them to... You're half right. Stupid is as stupid does, it's as simple as that. >If you join their cults, at the top you are revealed that most all of higher subjects is made of bullshit. At any moment of time, the surface of the earth is only accelerating away from you in a direction towards the center of the earth (this is called centrifugal force), which is incidentally the same direction that gravity pulls you, with much more acceleration. Therefore if the original tangential component of a body's velocity w.r.t the earth's surface is zero, and no other forces act on the body, its velocity tangent to the earth's surface will stay zero. >The actual smart people become hermits (hence "hermetic" wisdom) The adjective "hermetic" refers to the apocryphal writing of the sage Hermes Trismagistus and predates Christian hermiticism. Welcome to Modernity. Enjoy your stay till you die alone'. No but in all seriousness, you have a moral obligation to find a partner / people with which you can start a family or friendships. Why ? Because the people like you (and me) are completely alone and NEED contact or at least to know they are not alone. So stop trying to connect with normal people and start expanding your horizon and be open minded so that you can find individuals of the same predisposition. When you DO find someone that has a vibration of your level, you have to show initiative for your and their sake, it's already difficult for you to make friends because you are not used to it, so you need to put into the effort, you're not going to find someone again for a while so ask them out for a drink or talk. This could be a once every few months, years or decades kind of thing, since as I said, people of the "thinker" sort are so rare. Its kind of the same with everything else in life, most of the time you can let things pass by and pay little notice. But once a real opportunity is there in your peripheral (job, mate, friendship etc.) you must take action to capitalize.
Nameless · 2022-07-01 11:37
>>60280 I also want to mention that people with actual high IQ (>130 ish) have a MORAL OBLIGATION to procreate. Due to modern capitalism, and lack of natural selection, low intelligence r-selection individuals are breeding while smart career oriented people simply aren't having children. Previously these types found mates via arranged marriage or socioeconomic status, feminism and breakup of communities ended that. You have a MORAL OBLIGATION to take initiative to find a mate, preferrably also intelligent and procreate. The world needs more intellectually capable people to run the future machine, or things will be heading into a long if not permanent spiritual and technological dark age where things shift from creation and intellectual growth, to mindless maintenance of decaying machines. And yes we are already headed towards dysgenic idiocracy, look at USA decaying infrastructure etc. etc.

>>60277 Oh, please. Kids don't know what "drinking" is. They'll always say it's garbage because they're not "drinking", they're taking a drink of a weird beverage and judging it as a gastronomic experience. All their expectations and anticipations about flavor, consistency, and gut feeling are violated by alcoholic beverages, so of course they'll say it's garbage. If you buy a can of soda but it turns out to be unsweetened flavored seltzer water, your expectation of high-fructose corn syrup liquid candy will cause you to initially perceive the flavored water negatively, even if you don't dislike the taste of it per se. In order to approach the tasting of an alcoholic drink the way a fully informed adult does, kids would need to understand the presence of ethanol, its purpose, how it affects flavor, the rest of its effects, and the tradeoff of such effects vs. the compromised taste of the drink. They would need to be able to step into a mindset where, instead of drinking a beverage simply because it tastes good and quenches thirst, they're drinking it because it reaches their preferred balance among various metrics like how quickly or efficiently it can get them inebriated to the desired degree, how the inactive ingredients shape the nuances of the subjective experience of being drunk, and whether it tastes good. Or, more accurately, whether it doesn't taste overly objectionable. You do know, right, that it's pretty common for a drinker to find it remarkable, and to share the news with great enthusiasm, when they find a drink recipe or product that "actually tastes good" or that they "could drink just for the flavor"? The implication there, of course, is that it's routine for people to drink beverages that they don't particularly enjoy the taste of, but that provide the desired effects while remaining tolerable enough to the palate. If there are people who actually force themselves to adapt to the taste of alcohol just because it's cool and they think they have to do it to be accepted, those people are few, far between, and definitely dysfunctional, or misled at best. I don't know who you've been hanging out with -- well, it sounds less like you've been hanging out with anyone, and more like your understanding of drinking culture is informed entirely by MADD PSAs and the anti-drunk-driving section of the online course for the driver license written exam. People respect when someone chooses not to drink, and they avoid pressuring people into drinking. Meaning people in general, as in, the ones who do otherwise are considered douche-nozzles and gain a distinctly unfavorable reputation as people who don't have the best interests of their companions at heart. It is well known that advertisements for alcoholic products are seen by minors, whose perception of drinking and tendency to drink are affected subsequently. For this reason it's generally against state law, or federal regulation under the Federal Trade Commission, to publish alcohol advertisements that make false or misleading statements or implications, or that are designed to appeal to minors, positioned/located/scheduled so as to appear before minors, or even, in some cases, that simply happen to appear before minors in unacceptable proportion to adults. This is also why it's more or less universal that teenagers will be educated specifically about how to critically analyze advertisement and how to notice and avoid things like peer pressure. Yes, it does happen, but rather than bordering on criminal coercion, it more often appears in the form of what you might call "exhorting" or "wheedling". Some people feel obligated to make sure others are having a good time, and they may by default assume that this necessitates intoxication. They may assume, when inviting someone to drink, that they will have to overcome some soft objections in the beginning: Maybe the invitee is declining because they don't have money, but the inviter plans to cover them. Maybe they're not opposed, but only indecisive about whether they feel like drinking at that time, and trying to encourage or reassure them may not be considered out of line. Maybe the inviter grew up in a culture where it's normal and polite to decline all offers of anything two or three or thirteen times before accepting, so they're accustomed to what may look from the outside like being unable to take "no" for an answer. If someone were to state plainly that they don't drink, can't drink, are a recovering alcoholic, or in some other way someone who is not to be coaxed, it is, again, met with broad and significant social disapproval, to continue trying to influence them otherwise. People aren't influenced by alcohol ads to think that they must drink in order to be accepted or included socially. They're influenced to think that, if they drink the product being advertised, they can or will be like the people portrayed therein; namely, having fun, enjoying a rich social life, being a person of a certain type of appearance, demeanor, or accomplishment. Here it's fuzzy for me -- I'm not sure whether implications about the effects on one's social life are typically considered with regard to the prohibition of false or misleading advertisement. Some of them surely have made some rather optimistic and excessively specific implications, which is part of why you may have noticed that ads for alcoholic products have grown progressively more vague, to the point of making no actual statements about anything to do with the product, instead relying on the vague sense or suggestion they can deliver by the setting/atmosphere/activity portrayed, of how the product might help someone feel, see themselves, or entertain hopes of becoming. I do know, for example, that there are laws that prohibit alcohol ads from implying that drinking will grant or enhance athletic prowess, which seems tangentially informative, though it is a rather more material assertion than leading someone to the expectation that having a Corona with a lime in it will allow them to replicate the qualia of relaxing on a beach in Cancun with your girlfriend. But I trust you can see the parallel. >everyone does it Nobody for the most part uses their vague estimation of the popular vote-by-action as an actual measure of whether something is good or bad. The fact or perception that "everyone does" something is used, rather, as prima facie, reasonably reliable evidence that something is good or desirable, or at least not bad or particularly undesirable. This is not generally taken as proof positive of anything, only as acceptable rationale for a quick and rough decision, and as adequate reason not to bother actually evaluating the matter on its own merits. Everyone does it and pretty much nobody gets hurt and no huge moral objections spring readily to mind, so it's probably fine, is roughly the line of reasoning. Gotta give people a bit of credit; the NPC meme isn't to be taken altogether literally, you know.

>>60343 We start drinking here at 16 so the whole us situation doesn't hold up. In fact its a bit earlier because as long as you have someone hit 16 he is buying for everyone else. We've been partying for 4-6 years before you get to touch anything. Also lold at >yeah those npcs follow popularity but only if it doesnt cost them an arm so shouldn't call them npcs so they need cavemen punishment to stop, what a great limitation to the rule. And this why botting users works online now. You bot fake reviews / clicks and real lemmings show up to buy your soykaf. Doesn't cost them an arm so they do it and they will even defend your garbage because otherwise it would require to admit they made a mistake.

>>60316 It is not a matter of politics or religion in my case (different poster), but rather a rejection of bad practice. It is my doctrine that a relationship should be founded from true friendship. Sadly, this becomes very hard when you are an autistic weirdo who's hobbies tend to involve oil, electricity, and gunpowder; but I still stand by my doctrine. It is better to never be in a relationship than to get stuck in a broken one.
