Be it live action pornography, hentai, doujinshi, ecchi, video games, kinky "books", text written pornography of any kind such a sexual fantasies found online and horny posting of any sort. Not so long ago I realized it: I couldn't stop. That's when it hit me, I'm a porn addict. I felt so filthy, so powerless. Trapped, with no escape. Not only that, the mainstream encourages you to masturbate (almost) compulsively using pornography. I say almost because nowadays it's seen as normal for people to masturbate every single day for 10 minutes or just to have a day off inbetween. But how dare you go at it several times a day? Can't you control it? Are you some sort of freak? You have a problem, dude. Masturbating once daily is totally normal, trust me. But more? Jesus. Even worse, it's seen as something very positive. It's encouraged that you take a deep dive into it and for you to discover and acquire new fetishes and sexual fantasies through novelty content. New ways to get off, buy a waifu body pillow, buy an onahole or fleshlight, buy printed porn, buy a subscription to your favorite tube site... It'll calm you down a keep your horny in check. They even give you free samples and all you have to do is write a single URL a friend, family member or coworker told you in private or "joking" out loudly. Some sites not even have a pop up warning showing it's a site for "adults". Age restriction is a suggestion, rather than a reality. Would a young kid or teen be stopped by a single pop up? Of course not. It didn't stop me or you. Many such cases. This was designed. This was encouraged. Victims of very intelligent minds that got away with murder. And if you are bothered by it, you're a crybaby because how could you not control your own urges which are in your moral agency? And not only that, your porn use will get worse, because it always did at some point in time. Novelty and shame are key components in this. I'm pretty sure it wasn't as worse as it is now as when you started out when it comes to fetishes and variety. Maybe even quantity and regularity in consuming it, unless you made an active attempt to stop. Escaping porn... Tell people about it and some will say it's not possible, that you're exaggerating, and some will even send you porn just to "trigger" you so you proceed to masturbate again to it when you ask them please to just use the spoiler feature in the app or site you're using. We as a "community" dedicate large portions of the internet just to host it, promote it, spread it, consume it. We develop software for consuming porn and making the porn trap less subtle, more effective, more vicious. Porn is there to even further user traffic in non porn exclusive sites. Take porn away from people and they'll feel trampled on, like you're abolishing their freedoms. Long live pornography of any kind under the flag of freedom of speech and expression. The latest research shows this is a very bad habit we should steer clear from. Some don't even consider a porn addiction possible. Most people don't see high internet pornography as something to be worried about. They want equal rights for women, man and now they them, to abolish human trafficking and other man made horrors but God forbid they try to warn you about the dangers of pornography consumption for you to make a conscious choice or to be able to ask for help. We make ourselves products on dating apps, social networks. We all know some e-girl, c********e performer, p*****n or o******s content creator we like masturbating to. Craving, wishing. Glorifying whatever person or drawing as the most desired sex object of our perversion. Do you still consume pornography? I do. I'm trying very hard not to. I don't want to do this anymore. I'm tired of binging pornography, of making it a social activity in different platforms. I don't even want to consume it in "healthy" ways. I desire zero. I want NULL. I read https://easypeasymethod.org and it helped me a lot. It definitely changed my way of seeing this activity, this problem that me and many have. I'm even meditating almost daily to try to cultivate my ability to focus, off saying "No". How has your pornography journey been like? Do you worry about it or just embrace it as many people do? How has your escaping pornography journey been like? What have you found of great help in escaping? Please, help a brother out and let it out. Confess and repent from the sins you've committed onto yourself.
Lady Jessica · 2022-06-01 15:21
What are you talking about? From my perspective, I see no reason as to why I should stop pornography, as I am too mentally ill, ugly, and lack too much cultural knowledge to ever have a sexual partner, let alone a romantic partner that I get to fuarrrk all of the time. At least you're in a position where you can talk down to others like this, from your high-horse of normalcy. I wish I was like you.

There needs to be more people pirating chat cam content. So much of porn is too produced and artificial, and often just previews for paywalled content. Mindgeek is ruining free porn outside of that. Chaturbate is my go to. Other than that, I have grievances with dating culture having been corporatized to spyware dating platforms, people becoming more mentally unstable in general, the potential economic and life consequences (economy being Tower 7'd, dates are expensive and no want baby), and last but not least the skewed standards I see in other couples -- I assume that without a fair bit of luck and compromise that I as an average looking short dude anything that is not obese is out of my league. My emotional availability is long gone at this point but my sex drive is not. Considering all of this I unironically support masturbation and people making imaginary gfs.

>>59500 getting addicted to fapping is not a good idea even if you are born 2 wizard. I think succumbing to hedonism only makes sense if you give up totally on life and find yourself devoid of any ambition. Otherwise you want to get rid of all addictions as they handicap reaching your goals. >>59499 Basic lesson of life: dont listen to normal people unless you want to end up like them. Even the smart ones are more desperate for group approval than making the smart move which leads even the best to stupid behaviour. I think that whether or not someone compulsively engages in masturbation and watching pornography acts as a good gauge to determine if they have self-control. Most (if not all) people I've seen who do either also lack very much emotional control amongst other things; it can act as a filter of sorts when evaluating someone, perhaps. That being said, I don't like the idea that masturbation is entirely "bad"--it isn't. Compulsively doing it or doing it whilst watching pornography is bad, but I think there are exceptions. In particular, if one masturbated whilst generating images in their mind, using that as what people usually use pornography for as content, then I don't see anything wrong with it. I think that perhaps it could even prove useful as generating a continuous stream of images in your mind is quite a taxing intellectual exercise and has other uses (visualizing concepts is an important part of learning in my opinion, and training yourself to do it effectively is a very good thing to do). Naturally, one would also want to exhibit self control even in this exception, as should be expected.
Yu-ichi · 2022-06-01 20:08
>>59519 I think compulsion and self-soothing have to be evaluated together. People may convince themselves they are using a tool and thus have self control, and this is not a "compulsion" as such (though it may be part of a broader complex and addiciton) when in reality they are relying on their environment to manage their internal state.
Boris Grishenko · 2022-06-01 20:15
>>59522 >...when in reality they are relying on their environment to manage their internal state. Could you elaborate on what you were trying to imply by saying this? Assuming "internal state" refers to the brain and its generating of images, I don't see the relevance to why relying on their (outside?) environment is bad. All imagery generated by the brain is generated like that.
The Phantom Phreak · 2022-06-01 20:20
>>59519 As someone who does masturbate in the manner you describe it can be equally detrimental. I'm just fine at visualizing and conceptualizing without masturbating daily. As good as that skill is to have it can also be overdone, day dreaming is a rather difficult vise to shake, especially because it can be indulged in near constantly and nearly undetectably.
Meddler · 2022-06-01 20:20
>>59523 I'm talking about pornography use, going to the screen to manage stress. Relying on outside factors to manage your inner world is always a form of vulnerability, and with something like porn it's a net negative.

Always some black and white dichotomy, no conception of complex or nonlinear processes nor synergisms. Nope, they're broken already and just coping, lol so simple. >>59528 I would say cum in one's hand is the ultimate symbol of porn. A black hole where you take all of your somethings, and turn them into nothings. You take your someone and somewhere, and turn it into no one, nothing, and nowhere. Build nothing out of something. Just inert cum in the hand, nothing to be truly gained, and nothing to show for it. Life on life support, walking corpse imitating a living thing.
Zero Cool · 2022-06-01 21:14
I'm a bit of a coombrain to be honest. I think my addiction to masturbation is actually way stronger than my addiction to pornography. My own fantasies titillate my desire way more than any porn produced by other people could, usually for those last few seconds I'm not even thinking about what's on my screen. For a while I actually wrote porn because I have some highly specific fetishes that are hard to find fap material for. I recently returned to porn after more than a month, reason being that I got a new gf which means I constantly fantasize about her but her sex drive is way lower than mine. I think some of her sexual anxiety has rubbed off (on me) and drove me back to porn. For a few weeks it was actually great, there was a bunch of new stuff at my usual sites to titillate me. But now I'm starting to fall back into the old rut.... I don't feel satisfied after an orgasm any more, I just feel regret. And I've had to scrape the bottom of the barrel for novelty (futa porn is everywhere, I hate it so much). I think I will return to writing. It was definitely a healthier way to deal with my unsatisfied sexual urges, although sometimes I got a little obsessive and the porn fantasies would leak into my dreams and daydreams. Maybe I can start writing for my gf so we can get closer to each other sexually.... we'll see.

>>59529 >facilitates the continued degeneration and damage to already damaged people None of this has been proven. Coping, healthy or not, has a calming effect. A lot of porn users have the potential to become even worse if they get off it. >Life on life support, walking corpse imitating a living thing. What does this even mean? A lot of people, porn users and non-users alike, can find themselves in the doldrums of life. And that whole idea of cum in hand, the whole imagery of a black hole, has more to do more with shame than anything else. Far from being the worst thing in their life, it's just what a typical no-fapper has chosen to be the most ashamed of. Nor is "cum in hand" a universal way to symbolize autoeroticism. For all your talk about avoiding simple and linear thinking, you seem to do a lot of it.

>>59532 >None of this has been proven. [Insert soijak] >And that whole idea of cum in hand, the whole imagery of a black hole, has more to do more with shame than anything else. Tie it to whatever internal basis you want, it's a description of an objective mechanical process. No different than burning your money, casting sterile seed onto barren fields, or an adult clinging to their safety blanket. You took your time, energy, nutrients (esp/ zinc), desires, fantasies, and threw them intio a void. You turned your sexuality into a dumping ground where your somethings are done away with by being turned into nothings. Dead end. If you're looking at the system through a lens of cope, ie superficially, you'll tell yourself all kinds of things. That it's enjoyable occasional stress relief. That it's a tool you're using, and you're in control. That you're extracting some sort of utility from it, it's dual purpose. That there are no psychological effects and looking at naked people is healthy and inert. On and on. Fact is you're following someone else's script and the attractive women are just bait. You say oh I like the looks of this one, then you go along for the ride in a scene you have no control over. The most overt aspect of this is people complaining that the camera switches to the guy's face as they're about to cum, but fact is the entire scene is like that. This voyeurism, self insertion, whatever breeds passivity and reprograms your subconscious. And no, when it comes to eg classical conditioning, you're not immune, and you're not in control. Either way, so far as most people's value system, porn is a ahrd (ha) net negative long term.

I actually don't think any of this is real, there is a certain unreality to this place. What came to my mind this morning was the tendency of certain people to deflect apparent effort-posts by going all "wow look at all that energy you expended, you must be really needy and have no life" when in reality the irony of this: > imaging that I must be just like you. Is that this is exactly what you're doing. This stuff is highly structured in my mind, it's all just legos. It takes very little effort and maybe 3 to 5 minutes max to pound out posts like these. Maybe you think it takes effort and this shows something and is some good leverage in our conversation, I don't. Now I go to town and end up taking a walk, get back, continue this exchange with you, and you end up doing exactly what I thought about this morning. Something I've not encountered in many months, I think about it, then it happens. Likewise I was at the store and ended up looking at these pans, and all of them said "cast iron griddle" on them. I thought to myself, huh. Cast iron griddle. Cast iron.... griddle. Griddle. What the hell is a griddle? Cast iron griddle. Griddle griddle, cast iron griddle. Weird. I go on about my day. Get home, in some thread someone replies to someone and says he's going to hit him in the head with a cast iron griddle. What are the odds? Jung called these synchronicities, they have been described since ancient times, but fact is stull like this just breaks my suspension of disbelief. >You are indulging in a peculiar form of pornography, one that is unsexy in the extreme. There is some truth to this, though it's hard to describe in absolute terms. I often talk to myself through other people. Subconsciously I'm either seeing you as part of me manifested externally, some sort of messenger from the higher order of things, or at times a version of me. So you're correct, this conversation is a sort of masturbatory activity, and a lot of the time I don't see "you" at all. I am talking to my own reflection, the world is my mirror, and I am the world's dark mirror. I have tried to get away from this and rebuild the ego boundaries and come back out of solipsism, but it is the unfortuante truth. Also the only reason you're telling me I am unsexy in the extreme is because that's what I have come to think about myself predominantly, and iot loops in the back of my mind. If I changed my mind, your behavior would change automatically and you'd be telling me something else. Realizing this and seeing it proven out repeatedly, well beyond chance and some other mechanism like biasing of perception, is a burden. Lastly, for the hell of it. >But no, you had to get on a soapbox. This is such a bitch narcissistic thing to say. I wrote this stream of consciousness, that's how highly I think of you. Whine, project, and deflect more. Oh the irony.

Cat Mother · 2022-06-02 02:51
>>59541 >sure, bud. Whatever you need, Lain. >Why is watching porn any worse than other unproductive activity? The most succinct answer is that it's highly biologically active and is composed of supernormal unconditional stimuli and the resulting responses. It acts proundly on the brain, endocrine, and hormonal systems, and basically leads to functional decline. There are several factors for this, from conditioning itself to mesolimbic/dopaminergic desensitization (disruption of reward seeking) to where other normal stimulus can't compete. There is the release of eg phenylethylamine which drives down dopamine secretion and increases prolactin (which further modulates dopamine release in the longer term). Your brain also pretty much knows the activity is empty lacking the body of another person or meaningful connection, this has effects. The desire and delusion is that everyone has sexual needs and if you have no outlet in your life, porn is a way to more enjoyably take care of it. The reality is it warps the mind, conditions the individual to come to the screen which they rely on to access their "online harem", and it reorganizes the mind towards an avoidant character or otherwise saps the basis that would normally drive someone to seek out a partner or real relationships. Porn use also correlates with anxiety and lower self esteem,. but that's chicken and egg and I don't care enough to go into that at length. Go a week or two without wartching porn or fapping. You will notice a definite effect on your mental state. All I can tell you, that's the best way to understand.
Chani · 2022-06-02 02:52
>>59541 I'm new to this back and forth but best I can think of that I've directly seen/heard first hand is people attributing their disinterest in women and actual sexuality to porn, apparently persisting some years after breaking off porn. if this is a correct attribution I'd consider that somewhat worrying, usually havent heard this about i.e. video games, and I guess if you spend so long battling orcs and demons in video games that you loose interest in doing it irl, you're probably not loosing much. also please break off the dumb back and forth, its hard to follow and doesn't do much for the overall discussion, difficult to find which individual poster is on which position to those of us spectating.
Nell · 2022-06-02 02:59
>>59543 I've dubbed this effect "psychological castration", and it intertwines with early childhood factors and other life traumas. The core damage is with the means to bridge the senses in the external world, particularly, the visual and the tactile. You see an object in the external world, and processes in your inner world coordinate to make your body go and touch it, pick it up, whatever. Think infancy. Well, if that damage persists or there's some kind of bind with relationships, a man becomes incapable of bridging the visual and the tactile with women. He sees a woman and he knows he likes what he sees and wants to have, touch, or otherwise interact with her, however he either doesn't bother or is incapable. Because the internal systems used to interact with external objects are malformed or damaged, and associated with pain or other negative results. Porn perfecty facilitates remaining in that infantile state of absolute control, invulnerability, and exemption from risk and pain, exemption from the natural order. People who are damaged in the right ways, it facilitates never coming out of it during the developmental window where it's supposed to happen.

>>59542 Thanks. >basically leads to functional decline There is no proof of this. Hypersexual people also tend to be heavy porn users. Nor do I buy the idea that porn makes people averse to approaching women IRL. The real stuff still feels great, and is incomparable to the even best porn out there. People have been using porn since the late 70s, and it's only recently that we are seeing the phenomenon of the porn-addicted shut-in in large numbers. Even internet porn is not all that new. This tells me something else is at hand. Also, we must not ignore sampling bias when people report loss of function due to porn use, the studies catch almost all of r/nofap, but miss all of the hypersexual sleazebag drug dealers (for example) out there. >The desire and delusion is that everyone has sexual needs How is this a delusion? Desire for sex is a mammalian universal. It can be suppressed/sublimated ofc, but to say that there is no desire just strikes me as wrong. >but that's chicken and egg yes, this is a very big problem, and not one to be brushed off so blithely. Also another reason why I don't trust internet surveys on this matter. A lot of the respondents are already anxious, have low-self esteem, and have various mental illnesses. >>59543 >if this is a correct attribution This is a really big if. >>59544 >Porn perfecty facilitates remaining in that infantile state of absolute control, invulnerability, and exemption from risk and pain This is true, and that's why porn functions as an unhealthy cope for pathologically shy people. But I doubt it's because "internal systems used to interact with external objects are malformed or damaged." Formerly shy people can outgrow their shyness without quitting porn. Also the idea that "bridging the visual and the tactile" happens at a learned, cognitive level is very suspect. Such brain functions are usually inborn and instinctual.

Instead it is directed to the self, or something imaginary. >This tells me something else is at hand I agree. >How is this a delusion? Desire for sex is a mammalian universal. Such brain functions are usually inborn and instinctual. It's irrelevant what it is and where it comes from. Its functionality can be altered by external stimulus, and those disruptions are conditionable. Think about it this way, some people see a world of warmth and opportunity. Some people see all objects in the world as threatening, and feel zero warmth in the world. It is no different than learning not to touch a hot stove burner, only it is applied to people. Ahem. I sometimes watch porn, masturbate daily or almost daily, etc. But I've realized that porn doesn't turn me on that much anymore. What really tuns me on is more subtle, and the effect is more subtle too, it may be a consequence of growing up. I get aroused simply by the sight of casually dressed girls. Skirts are tue best. Sometimes even just their look can have an effect on me. And just for a few of them, most girls out there are really not at all attractive to me, some of them just marginally so, because of a certain feature or even the way they're dressed. I've been aroused by moe soykaf in a very strange way, I'm not even sure it's sexual arousal, though I think some of it is. I get this sensation from the weirdest most seemingly incospicuous, uh, imagery. It feels like sexual arousal in a way, but it does not make me want to jerk off to that. I jerk off to pretty standard fantasies that I've already developed and matured, but I get more pleasure from this kind of low-key arousal I get from rather plain stimuli.

getting a girlfriend and having sex, even though we're broken up now, cured my porn addiction, personally. it made me realize on an intuitive level (rather than an intellectual level) just how *fake* porn is, and it's genuinely significantly less arousing to me, now. I masturbate about once a week, watch porn maybe once every 8 weeks (and don't enjoy it; I think it's a remnant of my brain thinking I'll enjoy it but the orgasm is extremely unsatisfying). the most degen thing I do is sext with an online friend occasionally, and when I do masturbate it's usually to her, using my imagination. it didn't really take much real effort to quit porn on my part, I just stopped enjoying it and now there goes more and more time when I don't do it as i gradually get the message from my body that I just can't enjoy it at all anymore.

>>59570 so you've walked back from "no desire for sex" to "less desire for sex" and you have also acknowledged that there's no biological reason why a castrated/neutered animal or person would necessarily have no sex drive. Since there are many, many, MANY historical examples of sexually active eunuchs, I find your claim suspect.

>>59580 You're just a cluster B weirdo obsessed with being right. Everything you encounter you seem to try to rework in your mind to your initial opinion being absolutely 100% right, and everyone else being 100% wrong. Grow up.
