How To Be Productive in Society When You're a Mentally Ill Hikki-Neet?

Hacker · 2022-04-25 01:00
How does one go about reintegrating themselves back into society, when they have been away from it for so long? How does one reintegrate back into society when mental illness has caused them to become estranged from it? How does one become productive, and use their intellectual side for society's sake, when they're so mentally ill? I know it would take some effort on my part, and would probably be a couple months (years?) of serious effort and hard work, but any advice from lainons who have been shut-in hikki neets would be appreciated. My life at the moment really isn't worth living, and I've had very bad experiences with drugs (made me psychotic), masturbation (made me creepy), and other frivolous pursuits, and would like to find something better (which just so happens to be joining society in some way, and becoming "clean"). Basically, I've been rendered a hikki neet because of mental illness since I've finished high school. My last couple years of high school were terrible, and I barely made it through, so I don't know if college is really the place I should be (or one I could even get into decently). Now I am rotting away in my room, with nothing to do. Months have whizzed by faster than ever before in my life, and I'm starting to get weary of being all alone here in my shell, not doing anything. No help was ever received from my family, all who have always had a "I had to do it myself so you do too" kind of attitude. My life is not worth living at the moment. I know that this is going to be a humongous undertaking on my part, but even small advice is respected. I've thought about, instead of getting a low-level retail job, using my free-time to self-learn a skill so I can join society later and feel proud, but something like that would take years of effort; time which I do have, since I receive NEET-bucks, but I'm afraid that I'm going to kill myself or something in the meantime, or at the very least just waste away for years instead. >What mental illness Is it that important? >Age? Young enough, year out of high school. I'm just going to leave this here, as there are very few places left on the Internet where you can actually get a "decent" response.

>>58344 all I have to say is DON'T kill yourself. I was at that point once and know (if there was some spiritual realm or was alive long enough to see the water coming under the bridge) that I would've regretted it. Go slow. If you're not going to college right away (also a good idea so you can figure out what you want to do professionally) then a retail job or apprenticeship is a good route. But don't get too attached. You'll quickly learn to hate people, coworkers and customers alike. Just don't take anything personally and shut your mind off when working aside from being able to do your job. Try to see things in a third person perspective, how people talk, act, hang out, etc. and learn accordingly but adopt traits that you actually like. Be yourself but don't be afraid to change a bit to fit in if it means making new friends temporarily to make work bearable. And don't forget if your job or school or whatever is like kicking dead whales down the beach, move onto something else! But at least give it a chance...everywhere is going to have ups and downs. I'm sorry your family isn't supportive...I've been there. Plenty of good forums, sites and services to help people like you just ask and lurk. Best of luck, Lainon...certainly hope this is beneficial advice.

>>58344 To echo what the other Lain said, don't rush yourself. Also community colleges are more forgiving and many times have "certificate" programs that can translate into actual college credits (I am taking credits for cs for example). There are also apprenticeships like to be a stock broker that can pay 40-60k a year. Also there are tech certs but can be hit or miss on pay. Also there are the trades, but those tend to be a bit more rough around the edges so to speak but can pay well. If you have the means, taking a cheap holiday abroad once covid clears up can refresh the mind. When I was a Wal-Waggie I went to Colombia and had a blast. Just some thoughts Lain. Best of luck and hang on. I have been doing well, but even I don't know how to make sense of this clown world.

Obviously just get a job, any job. Just as long as you get your feet wet succeeding this goal will be the largest and most significant step in ending this purgatory state you're in. It'll suck in some ways, it does for everybody more or less, but I think the net benefit will be incredible and apparent. You've had time knowing your mental illness while many have not. They're doing fine and you will too. If you must be choosey, get into a factory job where you can still be relatively reclusive while offering a comfortable opportunity to socialize. A skilled trade will also be good for securing decent pay even during training without having to bullshit with people so much in the long run, but just get something first. Also I actually wouldn't recommend college right now. It's a huge financial and time commitment while not really addressing the root issue. >contributing to society Nah, do it for yourself. Contributing to society is a false meme. Everything is a racket and true contribution is something very few are innately equipped to do, so don't stress about it. My opinion is your priority should begin and end with how well you're able to support yourself and those close to you. Once you're able to provide for yourself those other toxic false memes should fall away in realization that none of that matters, instead acting on your own criticisms of yourself (not projections or rationalizations), and knowing that nobody is perfect. Despite that we can understand ourselves, have pride in ourselves, and accept others despite their inevitable flaws.

>>58344 >using my free-time to self-learn a skill so I can join society later and feel proud You are male, so your instinct is to find some kind of hierarchy and climb as high as you can so females will notice you. Most men combine their status-getting activity with their money-getting activity (called a career) but that is basically where your (lack of) self worth comes from.

>>58344 >Young enough, year out of high school. So you're 19, maybe 20? Don't overthink this. At that age, you're expected to be confused and floundering a little about what you want to do with your life. You're not going to be reintegrating yourself into society, you're going to be actually integrating yourself into society for the first time. >My last couple years of high school were terrible, and I barely made it through, so I don't know if college is really the place I should be (or one I could even get into decently). Community colleges will take anybody and you can get an associates there to open a few doors and to save money by meeting your gen ed requirements there before transferring to a better uni. If your last years of high school were terrible because of people, college isn't like that at all. You're not stuck in a building with the same people for 8 hours a day, you're in a classroom with different groups of people for 1 to 2 hours at a time. And most people are a lot nicer than in high school. College (or trade school) is decent step if it won't destroy you financially and it's a convenient way to sort of delay entering the "real" adult world while also setting yourself up better for it. Otherwise, I agree with >>58350. >>What mental illness >Is it that important? Yes, some mental illnesses may prevent you from pursuing certain things. Some lains might have experience with your mental illness and can give specific advice. >>58473 Don't listen to this pseudoscience incel soykaf. You shouldn't derive your self worth from your position in a hierarchy, your career, or how many women you think want to fuarrrk you. If you do that, your self worth will rely on others, not yourself, and you will realize one day you've spent your life living for validation from others instead of from yourself.

>>58344 This comes from someone that realized way to late what was going on and couldn't use that to fix what is wrong with your life. Take a gap year abroad and make sure it is something that will get you around places. The first thing you should do tomorrow is grabbing a nice pair of hiking shoes, buy a one-way ticket and start walking the camino frances. Don't care about equipment, that's mostly a meme as everything is provided for somehow. You can't overthink it, because you'll be stuck in your depression that prevents you from taking action. After that, you might want to spend some time in Europe and look where it takes you. Just change the place whenever you feel like it. In most places it's safe enough to sleep in a forest. If Japan reopens by then, just go there with the Work and Travel or Tourist Visa. If you don't escape your circumstances, life will never become ok.

>>58344 Whatever you do, do NOT fall for the college bad meme. Most people who are susceptible to fall for that meme and who are on 4chan are uncertain, unmotivated, disillusioned, young men who can't decide on a path. The vast majority of these people have two real options: college or a trade/ vocational training. Committing to a specialty might as well be off the table for these types for obvious reasons. Committing to a trade or vocational training requires certainty which university will give you along with marketable skills, people skills, time and wisdom, knowledge, experience in different fields, etc. College is cyberhumped, yes, but it's still almost always the best choice for people from middle-class backgrounds and up. I'm exceedingly lazy, unmotivated, bizarre, haven't woken up more than a handful of times before 10:30 since I was 15 and yet I'll still say being a NEET fuarrrking is like kicking dead whales down the beach and is an out of touch completely confined to imageboards out-of-touch that and is only an idea that can be propped up because of...things, not because it's actually not a non-completely soykaf non-idea. You have to be a delusional indoctrinated 4chan fuarrrkwit repelling even the most basic of... You get the point get a job for now and move out if you haven't already it will help you. Don't kill yourself either, just think about how miserable f-ck's brains can poked around or altered and suddenly they become peppy and completely enthusiastic about or how you can go to atheistic from religious or whatever. Your brain is defective and killing yourself is robbing your future healthier non-clouded self of the life he'll want. Permanent solution made by a delusional defective clouded brain to a temporary issue. At the end of the day while you're living who cares if you're homeless or something as long as there's an option to move to a dirt cheap country and to shut off all the lights and make your computer your environment.

>>58491 >Don't listen to this pseudoscience incel soykaf. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem >You shouldn't derive your self worth from your position in a hierarchy You also shouldn't crave white sugar. Nothing in the world is perfect, least of all your brain. >If you do that, your self worth will rely on others, not yourself, and you will realize one day you've spent your life living for validation from others Your mistake it assuming that everything is subjective. Being a good programmer or fast runner is the product of your own talent and effort and nobody can take that away from you. You are also missing the other side of the equation which is when you do something valuable for others they will give value back (in the form of money or favors or whatever). Or to put it another way, to get what you want you need to give other people what they want. That's not living for other people, productive cooperation can be 100% selfish.

You've been a hiki for one year? That's nothing. Get a delivery job and just do it you pussy.

Take it as good or bad but the path of being less dependent or semi producive is the best. Grow plants either indoors outdoors anyway you can for starters. Its good for your physical and mental health and also gives you something to take your mind off. Having any sort of practical skill is always useful. Donth bother with "society" or "people", its dead wieght dragging you down. "Society" does not want thinking individuals, it wants exploitable and herdable sheep that the top ones can pick off when they feel like it.
